Crys was coming back from training, alone for once. No crazy siblings who crave Crys being reaped. Last night, Crys had heard her two older siblings talking about how they would forge Crys's signature for tessera sign-ups. She rolled her eyes at the thought of that. Most town officials knew Crys's face by now.

Crys hated her family so much now; she hated how disappointed her whole family was when her name wasn't pulled from the reaping. She considering signing up for the tessera, and if that didn't work, she was going to straight up volunteer. Crys had nothing to live for really. She had nobody to love, she had no friends that were true friends. Sure, she had friends, but not real ones. Ones that would murder her for a few hundred bucks.

Crys had no idea why she decided to walk home the back way. Maybe she, at the time, had wanted to spend as much time away from home as possible. All she wanted to do now, though, was get home. She didn't like the neighborhoods she was walking by. They were scary, for they were some of the poor areas. Even in a wealthy district like one, there were still people struggling to live.

She began passing the public recreational areas. The soccer field, the baseball field, the swimming pool. She began to walk by the basketball court when a basketball came bouncing towards her at a fast speed. The ball collided with her nose, causing her to shriek in pain. A girl about her age came racing towards her. A boy that Crys assumed was the girl's brother stay in his place, his eyes wide and his jaw hanging open.

"I'm really sorry about him, are you alright?"the girl asked.

Crys clutched her now bleeding nose."Of course I'm not alright!" Crys wanted to spit in her face, but she didn't. Right now, she needed to be nice to this girl. She was unsure if her nose was broken or not, so she simply shook her head.

"Um, I think the ball broke my nose."

Crys pulled her hand away for a quick second, showing all of the blood smeared over her hand. She resisted the urge to lay on the ground, curl up in a ball, and cry. She didn't want to appear weak in front of a stranger. Instead, she sat down on the ground, resting he head against her jeans. She pressed her nose against her knees hard, hoping to apply enough pressure. She'd rather not rip a piece of her sleeve off or a handful of her jeans.

Crys listened to the two argue, waiting for them to remember she was here. The girl finally said, "So, um, what's your name? We could walk you home if you want. Some parts of this town are pretty dangerous and it's getting kinda late. We'd be fine with it."

Crys smiled a real smile. This girl didn't even know her and she was being so nice. It was so cute that Crys almost laughed. If this girl knew Crys, then the only thing she would've done was get the basketball back. No apologies, no questions, no words at all. So why not take advantage of this? Crys pulled he head up from her lap and plastered a big, fake smile on her face.

"My name's Crystella, but please call me Crys. If you could walk home with me, that would be great. I'm not sure why I came home this way anyways. I've never been this way before, so having somebody who knows the area will help."

Crys stood up, brushing off hers pants as she did. She knew her nose wasn't broken now; the blood had stopped flowing and her nose didn't hurt. She wondered how old this pair was. Obviously they were brother and sister, for Crys knew that no girl would play basketball with a guy friend. At least, a girl her age wouldn't. A girl her age wouldn't play basketball at all. It was now obvious that this girl wasn't Crys's age.

Crys began walking the direction she had been heading before, not bothering to look back and see if the two were following. She knew they would though, and it was confirmed when she heard footsteps coming at her. She slowed down, allowing the two to catch up.

"So," she said when they had caught up with her, "How old are you guys?"

Crys was honestly curious. She had never seen either of them at school before, so she wondered what age they were. She wanted to ask them many more questions. Did they have any older siblings? A brother? Her age? She guessed not, since he would probably be with them if they had a brother. Why hadn't she seen them before? How did they not know who she was? Hadn't she done enough things to make sure everybody knew who she was? Maybe they were twelve. That was pretty much the only way they couldn't know her. They would know her soon, though. She suspected they would ask her more questions, ones she would have to answer, but she didn't care. Crys loved talking about herself. She always has; she's that kind of person. There's nothing that will change that; its just become a part of her, of her act.
