Age: 47
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 1
Appearance:
Gentry Morgan was born as stunningly beautiful as the rest of the line of women in her family—not as much so as her late older sister, but that was a matter she handled in time. She was born with deep red hair that fell into perfect waves and curls that were the envy of many a peer. Though she now must dye her hair in her older age to retain its vibrancy and hide the grays, it is still hair that many women throughout her district look to copy.
Her piercing green eyes have been the scorn of many men throughout her youth. So alluring and seductive, they played a large aid in her climb to power. Though in her youth she was somewhat ashamed of her freckly skin, longing for the warm tans many of her friends would hold during the summers, Gentry eventually embraced them as a unique mark of her own beauty. In a District primarily filled with blonde and brunette bombshells, she wields her unique beauty as a weapon in the nature of a true former “career”.
Though many women in their older age tend to fill out their curves a bit more, even in District 1, Gentry has maintained her tall, slender figure. Her willowy, sensual frame is often accentuated by particularly high sets of heals. Gentry is in fact a rather petite woman, but has natural grace for walking at least 6 inches taller at all times. She feels that height is powerful and refuses to be seen as anything as the most powerful woman of the District.
Personality:
Even in her youth, Gentry was always wise beyond her years. She seemed to have popped out of the womb with a knack for manipulating the world around her to her will. She, of course, quickly caught on to her ability and began weaving webs to a quick and powerful rise to success. Gentry’s manipulative skills also include that of manipulating her persona. She presents herself as charming, witty and graceful, or anything the world may want her to be. She knows exactly how to portray herself in any situation to bring the outcomes into her favor. Quite frankly, she makes the perfect political figure.
Though she was beautiful and shined in her own light, Gentry’s power hungry nature was only worsened by the shadows cast by her older sister. She was vain to a fault even in childhood, and she refused to allow anyone to be in the spotlight more so than herself, even her sister. Once her sister was indeed out of the picture, and the light shined only for Gentry, her vanity only worsened with time and appraise. Of course, all great politicians are well adept at hiding their faults, and Gentry Morgan certainly knows how to present herself with humility and grace, which only warrants further ego inflating adoration from the people of her district.
Gentry’s life is not entirely without love for that other than her own reflection though. She does have a genuine affection for both her husband and her children, Jem and Glitz. Though she may exhibit her adoration in odd methods, often comparing them to herself as an intended compliment, she means well by them. In a way, she is trying to make up for the family life she destroyed in her childhood with her home life now.
History:
Codeword: odairGentry was born two years after her equally beautiful sister, Glitz. The two grew up very close in their younger years, however as the two grew, so did Gentry’s desire for sole attention. Both were placed into training for the Games, and while Gentry was indeed athletic, her gifts lie far better within manipulation and words. Her sister however truly thrived under the role of the career tribute, and in a District where the eternal glory of victory in the Games was the only thing more revered than beauty, this gave Glitz the upper hand.
The ever-growing vain nature of Gentry was now sparked by a twinge of envy at her sister’s success over her own. It ate away at her, growing further over the years. Every dog has its day, and Gentry knew just what she needed to do to get hers. At the age of fifteen, she pulled a stunt that could have cost her life should anyone have found out. Upon the annual career signing up for tesserae to hope for the Reaping, Gentry placed Glitz’s name instead of her own for all of the extra chances. It was a long shot, but if she could get her sister into the arena, then she at last could leave her shadow. Gentry was no fool, she knew exactly what the odds of leaving that arena are. She may have wielded the status of career, but she had no desire to enter those forsaken Games. Instead, she would play her own.
It turns out the odds were in Gentry’s favor after all upon the Reaping Day of that year. Glitz was taken off to the Capitol to compete in the Hunger Games. Her sneaky plan was almost foiled when Glitz managed a close second place, but Gentry secured her position of power the moment that final canon fired. She now was the sole beauty and pride of her parents and used the lost sister card for all it was worth in her coming rise of power.
What Gentry hadn’t expected from her little game, was the collateral damage. The loss of Glitz genuinely destroyed her parents, two people the Gentry had genuinely loved. Their health deteriorated rapidly from that point, and they did not even live to see Gentry brought into her position of mayor-ship. The amount of guilt that lie within her grief was unknown to even Gentry herself. In her blaze of glory on her road to power, she twisted every emotion she had to bend it to whatever her audience needed to hear to gain her trust and adoration.
She supposed somewhere deep down their must be some regret over her sister’s life since she named her own daughter after her. Her main grief however lied within the destroyed life of her parents and what became of her family throughout Gentry’s climb to success even before the reaping of Glitz. She sought solace in building a family of her own. She was married young to a boy she had long trained with in her days as a career. Heath Morgan had his eyes on Gentry since the two first met, and though it was apparent he loved her far more than she loved him, Gentry was eager to fill the gaps in her life left by her own family and finally said yes upon his proposal. Through time, she has genuinely grown to love him, especially through the love they share for their son, Jem, and daughter Glitz.
Though her home life is still quite troubled, Gentry tries her damnedest to make her family appear strong. Her whole life has been dedicated to what the outside world sees her as, and in her own odd way, depicting her family as strong and loving to the rest of the District is her way of loving them.
