Lily Cochon of District 5 [~Fin~/Finished]

The face structure of Lily's can make one seem she is younger than she looks. Some baby fat is left in in the cheeks but will disappear in due time. All hair follicles are blond, ranging from shades of golden-yellow to citrine. Her eyebrows are thin and, sometimes, barely noticeable due to the sheer transparent blondness against the cream-white skin. The smiles are always dipped in mirth, joy, and pleasure. Lily's ears are usually hidden behind long strands of hair. Encompassing in her sockets are shining, brilliant teal with long eyelashes to accentuate beauty.

Her hair stops at the upper portion of her back, just past the shoulders. Only at the ends does the waviness trait present itself, some tickling her skin at times. The side bangs are the longest: they flow down a little over the chin line. The rest of the bangs nuzzle the bridge of her nose and sweep her eyes. As stated, all hair is a golden-yellow; but, when cast in good light, each strand is the new sun, eclipsing her optimism. Lily has lots to share.

'Small' can be what Lily entirely is, as frail as a flower but radiating mirth to everyone but herself; she stands at about 5'5 nearing 5'6. Her complexion is nearly flawless; but, in exchange, Lily is almost to the point of skin and bones. One can see her collarbone, prominent and jutting out. She bears a tiny chest, waist, and even hips. She might even be underweight, but she passes it off as not needing more than what she already eats.

Lily will be mostly seen with sundresses of blue coloring or clothes in general to bring in drafts. She loves the feel of the air and breezes, even laughing when it hits the hardest. Usually she has her hair let down, but she might tie it up in a ponytail, clipping hair parts away from the face, or try to be elegant, especially at parties. The type of shoes do not matter to her; she tends to go barefoot in her own house, yard, or even the forest. Lily loves the feel of nature.

As a rose is beautiful but thorny, a lily is cute and dandy, bursting of life, color, and radiant energy. Though of different color, they are flowing and free. Lily is a kind soul that loves to help others, unselfishly wanting to shower care and support. At least she tries. She is the type of girl to want to give up what she wants and needs to hand to someone else.

Lily is not sociable in the definition everyone would think. Though one cannot see it always, she tends to avoid those she has had personal negative encounters. In a gentle sense. She will look at them in the eye, smile at times, speak a couple or so words, then will hide away. Easily drawn into those with reclusive and outcast natures, Lily speaks cheerily and will try to break the ice. If one gets to know her well, maybe they can sense the uncertainty.

She exhibits her own courage and strength at the best of times, and the blond is a firm believer of friendship. Though Lily has enough heart to forgive, the worst moments make her hesitant and unsure on decisions, sometimes not even able to gather her true emotions. A devote follower of expressing self, Lily will ask that they share feelings and thoughts; though, sometimes she is hypocritical of her own word. One event in particular makes her uneasy.

Lily is extremely dense, which may come off as being childish when, in actuality, her intentions are pure. She is purity incarnate. She savors friendships to the point her mind is stuck in retaining the bond dearly. The blond is, a lot of times, ignorant of her true feelings and will think they are something else. Most of the time she will not get hints and must be explained in more direct terms. Stubbornness coupled with denseness spells trouble for those trying to convince her easily. The girl is actually more of a hard worker than smart, but she is decent in academics; Lily will keep working on something till she gets it right, which makes her stubbornness essential for learning.

Deep within her heart is a dark self she is unknown of. Unpredictability thrown in with psychotic is the best to describe her in a snapped state. This side presents itself in skewed smiles and wide narrow eyes abandoned of life and light. Lily's dark-half is wild, random, and thus is hard to predict her movements or intentions. There is only one time this state as occurred, and no one has the event recorded but herself and the precious forest and its inhabitants.

Magnolia, Lily's mother, was born poor and expected to be amongst poverty for eternity. She would work extremely hard everyday selling foraged items and materials, and in return - if any - a pennyworth amount of lucre. Her own parents had died shortly after she was five, and she had no desire to live with another family. Magnolia would run away from Peacekeepers and services for adoption shelters throughout her lifetime to - in her own mind - remain loyal to her own short-lived loved ones.

She had to gain skills of speech from overhearing people's daily conversations and still attending school, though with occasional abuse from peers. Magnolia kept the family of one a secret, biting back tears and crying.

Age fifteen was prime for reaping the years of bitter hardship. A harsh summer day and a pocketful of earnings to finally indulge in a rare treat, the blond strutted to the shop for an icy sweetness. The time was just right. Magnolia, whilst ordering her item, overheard the complications of an elder coughing and walked over to the lady. She had ensured the woman was fine until receiving her order; and, upon walking out, the old lady called her over. Having no television for years, Magnolia would not recall the woman's status.

A winner of the Games had gotten friendly with Magnolia the poor, smiling, laughing weakly at the girl's notions worded badly though with good intention. Within the old woman's heart mustered kindness which needed to be validated with multiple encounters. She promised Magnolia to talk at the shop, even promising more treats to entice the girl to come, having been raddled of years of less human contact due to her status and former raging pride.

Various discussions finally mustered the kindness to manifest in letting a finally-persuaded Magnolia stay with her, but not for long. Only a year passed before the old lady went along with her long-lost beau in the sky, who was also a winner of a Games and died terribly short. Magnolia was left in the house with past money of the older woman, now under her name but keeping her old family tight in her heart. She knew not of the festering rage she garnered from the District 5 poor.

The girl always had the thought she was not going to be set for life; but, instead of fretting about that, her old money-saving skills were intact. Magnolia rationed and stored reserves of cash in case of emergencies.

Like, say, a broken window.

A lad smirked as a rock smashed through the glass, shattering shards on her floor and yard. He seemed to wait for something, a response of irksome emotion. To that, Magnolia replied, "How nice of you to break my window. It leaves me work to do." The tone was in pleasure, not even the slightest bit irritated. The boy could not understand, and that intrigued him.

Information exchanged, the guy was a wandering soul, one that had abandoned a father drinking away life and problems after a beloved wife passed away. He loved to break the rules, the thrill, the adrenaline rush of taking off as, for example, a baker swung a rolling pin after him. He lavished in the excitement, though home always got to him once in a while; but, maybe, he could find a new one. With a particular someone.

Magnolia, a belly round and hard after years of talking over, would watch and listen her 'husband' lament the results of having thrill but no work. Their family would suffer, the money would disappear eventually, being that he ate more than his 'wife', and he could do nothing about that. Unless he went back. The man, having no passion for animals and herding as the District 5 people did, decided to return to his home-District to practice in work that could help District 5 without working directly with animals. Finishing school would be only the start; becoming an apprentice would take more years.

Yet Magnolia agreed. The wanderer left Magnolia with an unborn child, and she smiled.

A daughter was born of dangerous love; one flower gave birth to a different breed: Lily. A sweet bundle of joy that giggled when extremely happy and laughed loudly when tickled. Magnolia salvaged the time without her dear 'husband' by teaching Lily an assortment of skills from the books left in the library; and, even when she herself did not understand concepts, Lily would practice her hardest to please her mother and an approaching father.

The age of seven, however, repeated Magnolia's five.

Magnolia contracted a fatal cancer, wilting about a year-and-a-half after obtaining it. Lily would try to shake her mother awake, spilling tears that she would not 'wake up'. Not knowing exactly an action to take, the little child took to her own instincts of eating and supplying necessities for, now, a family of one.

Her father returned a few months after Magnolia's death, pleased to have knowledge to support their three-person - and perhaps, in the future, more - family. How much devastation his heart endured at finding no Magnolia and no child in the house. The building had started to become out of shape - a little Lily not tall or strong enough to clean every spot of a huge place - and food spoiling if not already spoiled - the child had no idea about the freshness of items yet. The 'husband' of Magnolia left the District with his own forming thoughts, never knowing that his daughter had gone shopping for new materials and food.

Lily fended for herself for three more years before finally giving up the notion of a patriarchal figure coming to her rescue, the knight of a damsel-in-distress. She was never disappointed. Just hurt, forgetful, and never wanting to live with another family. Ever.

Ever since starting school, Lily was teased and abused for reasons she could not understand by the poor students. The parents would call her a "bast*** child", "money wh***'s daughter", and so on. Fortunately, the children would call her the juvenile versions: stupid, ugly, and et cetera. By the time the mother passed away, they grew worse; it seemed all of District 5 was in on the belittling, to Lily. The girl started with ignoring; but, as time passed and she grew older, they started to sink in. The name-calling was not helped by the fact that little Lily and older Lily was friendless to humans.

In her pre-teen years, Lily had garnered enough resolve to climb over the non-electrified fence to enter the forest, where her heart resided most peacefully. She loved the smell, the feel in her hands and under her feet, the scenery, everything. The girl fell in love with Mother Nature. When Lily was 13-years old, Mother Nature gifted her with her only friend at the time. In one of her excursions, the blond fell upon a wounded gray wolf pup that would become an adult - scientifically-speaking - in a couple months. With attempts and nipping of the hand, the girl and the wolf befriended.

Lily and loyal "Mr. Wolfie" would always have the best times; the moments were much sought after when she was in school getting more abuse. And more abuse. And more abuse. She was dense to her own decreasing mental and emotional states and tried to smother her 'uncertainty' in the wolf's presence. Lily had not a clue that her smiles were true yet false.

The lily finally snapped its stem as, one night, a year or so after befriending the wolf, the girl began recapping all past horrible events. She had done so in the past but not with fragile mentality and nerve. Her mother cast to the wind, a father that never returned to save her, the poor class pulling numerous pranks and slobbing negative names all over her, her natural - though not conscious - unfitting in with the rich and middle classes, people staring strangely, all collided and bumped themselves.

She suddenly widened eyes and smiled with mysterious intention.

Lily left her house with a candle burning confusedly, allowing the cooling wax slither to the fingers, sticky and hardening, and a letter opener - an object she could imagine her late mother would carry around, with her gentle nature and love to teach her daughter new material from books and letters. The girl climbed the fence and made way to an inner section of the forest. She looked left and right, smiling that mysterious smile, eyes glassy and dim of light. Her hand dropped the candle on a patch of death below her, the grass brown of age and crisping.

Red ate the brown and eventually the green, masticating the wood, dropping branches and limbs onto scurrying animals. Her beloved nature, destroying itself with an enigma of nature - fire. Lily cackled, giggled, laughed at the show. It was a show; the sparks glowed against the brown like stereotypical Christmas lights, the blood was spilled thick punch, and the music of cackles entertained her. An insane Lily spectated as her love burned fiercely. One sight, however, slapped - even if slightly - reality back in.

A comet soared past her face, yet another glance recognized what the object really was: her friend's fur caught on fire. Mr. Wolfie's yelping, adding to the yellow dance on his pelt. Lily shook watching her gift rolling around against an already blazing ground to rid the always-thirsty flames, his frenzy riding proper processes to think of water sources nearby. His panic, her slap.

Lily skedaddled home to snatch a large container, fill it with water while tearing badly, screw a cap in and rush back to the site. The girl tore her charring and holed dress in attempt to save her precious friend. The blond rushed, heavy in breath, slacking in strength, pleading, begging.

Her friend seemed to be loyal one more time, staying in the area where she saw him though laying on the ground, a ball of consumed fire. Lily doused most of Mr. Wolfie, bawling as he would not move. Just like her mother. The fire she created out of 'love' ate the current love of her life. Another psychotic moment took a hold of her, except without the mystery.

The sharp letter opener was gripped tightly. It shook with both a dream and anxiety in mind. Mr. Wolfie had any sign of breathing left in him. All the oxygen seemed to have floated out as the tissue, muscle, and even bone was exposed. The thought in her head screamed sense.

Lily dug in to the chest, her orbs glassy and tearing, ripping out rib bones to extract the very engine of all large-bodied life. Though she accidentally punctured it little, the girl smiled when the heart was out, still but lively in color.

"We'll be best friends forever and ever, Mr. Wolfie. We'll live together till I die."

She feasted, puked, and feasted.

Two years passed calmly, the reconstruction of the forest going smoothly, and Lily lives in the house lonely and friendless. Her and Mr. Wolfie. Together. She will not come out and always talk about Mr. Wolfie; but, subconsciously she knows the blond and the wolf will exist because she will keep thinking about him.

Forever and ever.

Lily is refined in her tastes, which transcends to even her music and reading. She had continued her piano studies from her mother's books and especially loves to perform a certain man's concerto and another calming classic. One could see the resemblance between mother and daughter in looks and personality, yet there is always confusion on the father's whereabouts. Many suspect that her surname is in respect of her father. Lily wants to take care of animals or grow flowers when she gets older, and she has even started tending flora as a hobby and little job (for a tiny salary).
