Age: 18
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 1
Appearance:
Personality:
At 6'8 and and 250 pounds. he's kind of just a mountain of muscle, and the first word that jumps to the mind when a stanger sees him is intimidation. Other than his chisled physique, Hero's got a few noticable features. Of African descent, he has big brown eyes that have an unexpected warmth to them. His hands are callased from work, and full of tiny scars. His feet are the size of someone who has normal feet multiplied by 1.5, they have trouble fitting shoes, and true to the cliche' his hands are the size of catcher mits. He is the proud owner of the a broken nose that set not quite straight, and a subtely chipped tooth.
More noticable is the complete shaved head, and arms that are capable of curling, get ready for it, 110 pounds each. Not to shabby, especially when his strength isn't even his arms. The guy is just a giant, and many thik that he doesn't even realize what kind of gift he has.
The finer details of his face give the appearence of waking up from a nice, warm, nap. His face appears gentle when at rest, his mouth being in an ummovable smile. His eyelids that never seem to be as open as they should be, and a lazy chin that hangs in space, which his mother has been meaning to get out at the denist along with his not so perfect teeth.
That is unless he's angry. The eyes that were once softer than expected, now turn blood shot, and the iris falls even darker. A scar above his lip, a gap where the rest of his ear was is now noticable, and you realize how truley giant Hero is.
Hero isn't all there mentally, he lacks full understanding of things like saracsm, tone, puns, and intention. There's a good reason for his slow development, but not many people know it and after they get past the fearsom appearence they try to take advantage of him. He's especially receptive to beats and rhythms, but he's not into music, and even though they live in the richest district, his mother and him still can't afford any extra luxuries like instrument lessons.History:
It might be part of his status, but Hero is one of the most trusting people one could meet. He gets along with girls a lot easier than guys, probably because he feels most comfortable as someone in the background of the conversation and girls rarely stop to ask him his opinion, but nevertheless he's a very skilled listener even if he doesn't understand everything.
The gentle side that Hero posesses changes to the side that his trainer trys to provoke very quickly. And when erupted, it is awfully hard to calm him down. He's got a loose wire somewhere, and there have been mass damadages on other peoples property when that inner ape is released. Oh and I mean ape, Hero has never cursed, ever. It's wrong, and his mother would not be happy if he did that, instead inaudiable screeching is a way Hero shows his feelings about the poor guy he's about to wale on.
Compared to the other guys of D1, Hero is one of a kind. Fashion has no place in his mind, and he watches the Hunger Games with no feelings at all, just as test subjects with his trainer. Hero has never had any romantic intrest in anyone, though more than one girl has hinted affection towards him. But honestly we're not even sure if Hero knows how life is created.
Hero is resighned to the fact that he will be part of the games. No, resighned is the wrong word, accepted maybe? No, he know that is a given that he will one day enter the games. His athleticism and his one minded approached seems almost bred for the games. One minded, that's usually bad right?? Not with this guy, his loyalty to his mom should allow him to kill without second thoughts, or so reasoned his trainer.
When Hero was in the womb, his mother ran, crying into the center of the district, bruised. When they calmed her down, she told the story of her husband hitting her, and how she didn't know if she could raise a child with him around. The Peacekeepers had to respond, so a gang of them decided that this could not go ignored. Originally, the plan was to knock some sense into Hero's dad and them take him in, but it escalated and he died. [/blockquote]Codeword: Odair
Hero's mom noticed that Hero was mentally slow at age 9. District 1 has one of the best hospitals outside of the Capitol and D6, so the district decided to do a brain scan since Hero was only one of about 5 kids, all in the same year and all a little bit off. A build up of lead was found responsible, probably from old toys in a daycare that took care of kids while parents were working. The result was that Hero had the mind of someone quite a bit younger, and that is still in effect today.
Outraged at the condition of her child, the extra umpf really came through when it came to defending her child. It worked both ways though, Hero became a devout momma’s boy. He soon got a job to help her out, and he dropped out of school.
The job was creating custom tables, mantles, and anything that was obnoxiously big, heavy, and outrageously stylish. Hero helped lift the pieces into place, and was learning to weld. His labor soon defined his already strong muscles.
To many, the ultimate test of loyalty from a child to his mother is the request to train for the Hunger Games, but Hero didn't think twice, in fact his exact words were "If that's what you want mama." They hired a trainer, and between his job and training he never had a spare moment. He became the best hand to hand combat career in the district and he could crush armor with a blow from his hammer. Now, after training for 7 years, Hero is poised to volunteer for the D1 spot.
