Appearance:
Ugly? You could say that.Personality:
Attractive? You could say that as well.
For Ophelia, it really depends on which features you focus on.
Mostly every face in the Bennington family pretty much looks the same. They each have the same pale skin, the same large hawk nose and prominent eyes; that's Ophelia right there. The differences? Well, thin lips do run in the family and Ophelia's lips are quite plump. She also has a weaker jawline than the rest of her relatives and thin, slightly arched eyebrows rather than thick, straight ones.
It's not as horrid as it sounds, and the colors make up for it anyway. Light amber eyes just like her mother and curly brown hair just like her father. Although her head, hair and face are similar to her relatives', her body is what stands out.
She's the shortest in her family; even her younger sister and cousins are bigger than her. At 14 years old, Ophelia stands at about five feet and weighs around 112 pounds. That's actually pretty reasonable for an average 14 year old girl. But for an average 14 year old Career? No! And even then, it's not good enough for her family. Now, she's certainly not too scrawny, but not muscular either. Still, next to the rest of her family, she looks quite delicate and weak.
Style doesn't really matter much to her. She'll take a shower in the morning, wear whatever she finds in her closet and bundle her hair up into a sloppy ponytail or leave the curls hanging around her shoulders carelessly. What does it matter?
Let's go back to her family. Sturdy, brave Careers they all are. Hostile. They won't take no for an answer. They're confident and sure of themselves. They'll do anything to get the job done.History:
Ophelia is the complete opposite. She's a sheepish, shy, shamefaced embarrassment to her family and their history. She's cowardly, doubtful, unreliable and lazy. She's a nervous twit.
Although she does share one trait with her relatives: not trusting absolutely anyone.
I know I've implied otherwise, but she is not completely useless. She's a runner, that's for sure. Fastest in her class. If there's one thing you can count on her for, it's running fast and far..and answers to math problems. Unlike her family, Ophelia is also pretty intelligent; particularly with numbers.
Now, as for fighting or murdering people, should the time ever come..Let's face it. She's weak. It's not like she wouldn't even try if the situation came up --- and miss a chance to win and finally make her parents proud? No! That's all Ophelia wants in life. But due to her own laziness and slow learning skills, her training hasn't been very useful to her. She's not that strong or skilled with weapons. Throwing knives is what she's best at and enjoys the most..though that doesn't necessarily mean she's good at it.
Like most other Careers, and District 1 inhabitants in general, her family had been training their children in preparation for the Games throughout generations. And yet only one of Benningtons ever got the chance.Codeword: Odair
Ophelia's family is quite large. There's the usual Mom and Dad, aunts and uncles, cousins and second cousins, and Ophelia and her four siblings, Madison, Kimberly, Garrison and Heather, Ophelia being the second youngest out of all of them.
Heather's the oldest at 17 years old. She's mature, well-trained and trains her siblings as well.
Kimberly's 15, the middle child. She's pretty strong but it doesn't show in her tall, slender body and gorgeous face. She's very spoiled and wouldn't last a second in the Games, but that's just fine, since her parents believe her beauty will take her anywhere she'll want to go in life.
Garrison is 16 years old and also nicely built but has been very quiet ever since his twin died. Jonathon had been the only one in their family who got the opportunity to enter the arena. Boy, were his parents disappointed when he barely made it to the top 6 before being stabbed to death like a weakling.
Madison's the youngest; she's 11 years old, about four inches taller than Ophelia and very muscular for her age. Their parents have a lot of fate in her.
Ophelia, however, lost her parents' fate in her a long time ago. They realized that she was hopeless and no number of years of training would ever prepare her for the arena. It annoyed them greatly, but actually didn't matter much anyway since it was unlikely she'd ever get the chance to be chosen. Still, what Career family would want a daughter like Ophelia? Useless since the day she was born in late winter, her sisters, together or separately, would often mock her and abuse her mentally, emotionally and sometimes even physically. Now all she can hope for is to make it to age 18 without being picked for the Games and then maybe even leave her home and family.
