Personality:
At 6’4 feet and 179 pounds, Wester Sparks is a relatively big guy. Some might refer to him as intimidating. Wester Sparks goes for the bad boy look by sporting leather jackets and ripped denim even though he can certainly afford better clothing. He has quite a good-looking face. Overlooking the fact that his dark hair is never in order, he has brilliant green eyes and decent bone structure. You would imagine that someone of his status would care about his image more. Wester Sparks is obssesed with dental hygiene but fails to accomplish simple tasks such as shaving his rather scruffy beard and showering daily. Nobody could ever make the mistake of calling him graceful. He’s about as flexible as a tree trunk but can lift up to 100 pounds. The thought of being in a fight with him makes even the strongest of men a bit nervous. Being a Career was expected of him but he shocked District 1 by declining. It is likely that you’re thinking to yourself that a boy with these traits might have many friends or perhaps a long line of ladies hoping to be his. Well, you couldn’t be more wrong. Wester Sparks has managed to intimidate almost everyone in District 1 and mostly keeps to himself.
What the-? Who the hell is this guy? What’s with all this Wester business? It’s Wes.
First off, I’m not intimidating. I prefer the term… misunderstood. Second, I don’t ‘go for the bad boy look’. I don’t even care about clothes…. My face is average. What does bone structure even mean? … My eyes look like a muddy pond but I’m growing out my hair and it’s looking good... Obsessed with dental hygiene?? I don’t like having things stuck in between my teeth, so what? I’ m not obsessed. The reason why I don’t take many showers or shave is just ‘cause I can’t be bothered… I can be graceful, dammit!... Careers are idiots ‘nuff said... What? Who says I don’t have a long line of ladies, I mean just because they’re not here it doesn’t mean they don’t exist... Somewhere… Alright, I’m tired of this guy. From now on I’m answering my own damn questions.
History:
Personality? I have a personality… Let’s see. I’m… Err… Alright, alright, bring in the uptight scholar to finish this thing up. Just don’t trust a word he says, ya hear?
As you can probably see, Wester, Ow! Pardon me, I mean Wes, is not the most tactful of men. Mostly because he’s extremely blunt, although he refers to it as ‘being honest’. Wes takes honesty very seriously and is bothered when he senses lies. He talks openly about personal matters if asked but if not he tends to keep things to himself.
He thinks highly of himself and forms opinions about others quickly. When dealing with Wes it’s better to be straightforward. I wouldn’t recommend playing games, because he’ll win. I wouldn’t pull rank because that just makes him want to put you in your place. He has great faith in his ability to overcome any challenge. He isn’t patient with people he considers unintelligent and doesn’t bother hiding his impatience. Wes is very competitive. He can also be considered a show off.
Wes likes anything that causes an adrenaline rush. He finds dangerous situations appealing. He has a perverse sense of humor and enjoys playing devil’s advocate. Cutting corners and not regarding rules is typical in Wes’ life. He has had slight problems with the law throughout his entire life.
A word to describe him is probably ‘Clever’. Wes is usually cerebrally as well as verbally quick. He is innovative and good at problem-solving. He loves to argue just for the sake of arguing. He tends to confuse and anger others who don’t see argument as a sport. He changes his mind easily when somebody makes a good point but he’ll never admit it. It’s extremely hard for him to admit he’s made a mistake.
In terms of relationships, he is very capable of bonding with loved ones. He isn’t afraid to show his feelings once he’s sure he has them but has a problem when it comes to admitting his feelings to himself. He believes deeply in karma and in doing the right thing. He has a soft spot for dogs. He may sometimes come across as being oblivious to the rest of humanity but that’s just because it’s hard to get his attention. He can become petulant about small setbacks since he is such an optimist but major setbacks are considered a challenge in his eyes.
Ehh… that sounds about right. He forgot to mention I’m awesome, though…
Wes is the only child of Wester and Ophelia Sparks. They are good folks who have upstanding jobs regarding luxury items. They make a ridiculous amount of money a year compared to people from other districts. He has always felt a special connection with his mother and has trouble seeing eye to eye with his father. Ever since he came into the world, Wes has been a lively child who questions established truths and norms. He loved to scheme and developed unusual ways of doing traditional childhood things. He’s forever been oriented toward doing the unique, which meant taking risks and outwitting parental, school, and societal authority.
As a child he also enjoyed inventing new toys and languages. He rarely accepted things just as they were. He liked to test people and explore. When he was 6 he began going to the forest to play, not knowing why it was forbidden. When he turned 8 his father caught him and beat him to prevent it from occurring again. His mother found out and threatened to leave. Since then no matter what rebellious activities Wes gets into, his father just glares but does nothing more.
When he turned 12 he was expected to be a Career due to his strength and stature. Wes being Wes, was determined to prove people wrong and wanted to choose his own path. He rejected being a Career and decided to set flexible goals for himself. He’s much too proud to change his mind but it’s hard for him not to be able to explore the road not taken. He often wonders what it would have been like to have accepted.
Wes found a lost dog about a year ago. He reckons it came from another district or something because he had never seen anything like it. The canine is big and covered in long dark hair. It has nothing in common with the tiny mascot dogs that most of the girls carry in their purse around these parts. When Wes found him, he was skinny and his fur was falling out. He named him Dirt and took care of him until he was healthy. His father was not pleased but there was nothing he could do about it since Wes’ mother had also taken to liking the big animal. Dirt and his mother are his only allies as of now.
Despite the fact that this guy is a tool, I think he did a decent job with my history… It’s like he can read my mind or somethin’… The only thing he forgot to mention is that I recently discovered the miracle that is alcohol... It’s some good stuff.
