Liliana Rhyson
Age: 17
District: 10
Appearance:
Liliana is small and twig thin, shorter than most her age. She may almost be an adult, but she definitely doesn’t look like it. Her face still has the slight roundness that is generally associated with a child. Her nose is slightly upturned, and spattered in freckles. Her face is framed by light blonde hair that although during the day lies flat, is not naturally that way. It is uncontrollable and she has to work hard on it in the morning to get it to look the way it does. Liliana rarely smiles. Most people think it is just because she is unfriendly. In fact, it is because of her teeth. They are pretty crooked, and Liliana detests them. She would get them fixed, if she had the money.
Liliana’s eyes are wide and pale green, and although everything about her seems young, the minute you look into her eyes, you can tell she is not childish. When she looks at someone, her gaze is deadly serious, and it seems like she could turn you to stone with one look. Of course, half the time she won’t even look at you. She’s too caught up in her daydream’s to pay attention.
Personality:
Liliana is almost completely different from the way she may appear. She seems like a silly little girl, but she is the opposite. She is a serious, studious person. She has always been told that she was stupid, and her goal to prove the people who told her that wrong has deeply affected her personality. She spent her school days studying and working hard to become the best in her class.
Of course, being a respected and intelligent person is difficult for her. Her “Daydreams” are what gave her the reputation of being stupid and ignorant, even crazy. She can’t control or avoid them. They are too real. Sometimes they even replace reality.
In front of people, she is usually serious and strict, but not so when she is alone. She can gaze off into space for hours, alone in her head. She is the biggest daydreamer, although she tries to reign it in when she is in front of other people. She can live a different life in her head, and personally prefers it there anyway. Sometimes when people speak to her, they have to repeat what they say because she was too stuck in her head to listen to them. Her daydreams are reality to her though. She can get so caught up in them that they seem real.
At first, the dreams seemed harmless. They weren't causing any damage, or affecting her, so who cares. Then they started getting worse. It was like someone else took over her mind when she dreamed. It gave her thoughts and feelings that were polar opposites to how she actually felt. She wasn't herself when she dreamed. Soon enough, fulfilling the dreams became what was most important to her. In her mind, if the dreams couldn't be real, than what else did she have? Who was she without the dreams?
Liliana knows that there is probably something wrong with her, which is what causes the fantasies. She knows that seeing something that isn’t real and believing it is crazy, that she is most likely crazy. She won’t admit it, though. That, or she can’t. It’s much easier to tell yourself that you have realistic dreams than to admit to yourself that you are, in fact, crazy. Which she’s not, by the way.
History:
The dreams started when Liliana was very young. She once told her friends about them, but they were so far fetched. It was difficult to believe that someone so young could even imagine those things, let alone believe in them. So she kept them to herself. She never even told her aunt, who has been her guardian for almost forever. Of course, she didn't need to tell her aunt. She may not realize this, as she is completely oblivious when dreaming, but she is very obvious about it. Her aunt can tell there is something wrong with her, and resents her for it. Her aunt was a somewhat esteemed member of society before being stuck with Lili, but now everyone who ever respected her can see the kind of people who are a part of her family. At least, that's how she sees it. She can be a bit dramatic.
Liliana doesn’t know and honestly doesn’t care where her parents are. If she ever knew them, she doesn’t remember now. She lives with her aunt, and works on her ranch with horses. She does what she's told and works hard, although she doesn't particularly care much about animals.
By now, the dreams pretty much control her life. It's like the dreams are her reality, and the real world is fake. Liliana tries to control it, but it's getting harder every day. Now she's just trying to get by, hoping to appear mostly norma, trying to balance work, school, and her endless dreams.
