Jacob Titus |District 10| Status: Complete

JT is a fairly tall individual. Noticeably taller than the average boy his age, but not freakishly tall either. He stands at six feet and one inch, and frequently imposes his height by standing close to people, namely women. His frame is well filled out, weighing in at about 175 pounds. He has very well defined muscles, but is by no means bulky.

His facial features are both sturdy and soft at the same time. His jaw line is definitive and his chin is strong, but overall he has a fair face. His eyebrows narrow often when he’s in deep concentration. His mouth is of average size, and his nose is slightly large, though set well. His eyes are gentle, though they are a light hue of brown. Winters on his ranch could be harsh, so sometimes they show flecks of gray.

JT is a very smart and creative individual. The Titus family never gave up on intellectual pursuits, even as the district became more and more agricultural. His mother taught him the art of poetry as well as freehand drawing. In his free time, he frequently draws, and when he’s supposed to be completely focused on working, he “writes” poetry in his head. Ancient to most of the world, but normal to JT.

As was implied by his lack of focus, JT is rather nonchalant at times. While he has the capacity to be a great worker, he’s too whimsical to apply himself properly. He’s very relaxed and has a cool demeanor, getting that from his mother. This comes in handy when working with groups, but can lead people to not take him seriously at times.

Perhaps of all his traits, the most prevalent thing people notice about JT is his charm. He is incredibly smooth with his words. He knows how to get under people’s skin without getting hostile, and knows how to break into people’s insecurities. He is always able to find the best and worst about people, and is sure to let them know either depending on how he feels about them. This could make him highly annoying, or highly romantic. JT certainly knows how to appreciate a woman for all of her qualities because of this.

Jacob always appears to be confident. He comes up with thoughts quickly and can seem self-assured. This is really just an attempt to mask his insecurity. He doesn’t often let people know the real him because he’s afraid of being left alone. He is often told by his father that he doesn’t live up to expectations, so JT has a way of being super confident to compensate.

As a boy, JT was cared for well by his parents. His father was extremely proud that he had a son and often talked to JT (before he could even understand him) about the ways that he was going to help the family. It was going to be great to have an extra pair of hands and a man of the house for when he was gone. His mother would always caution her husband to go easy on the boy and let him be a child, at least for a little while… until he had no choice but to grow up.

His time to grow up came early, three years old to be exact. Once his gross motor skills developed enough, his father put him to work around the house. He organized feed for their livestock on most days, and found this to be incredibly boring. He just wanted to play! Every now and again, his neighbors would come over and they had two daughters who he really enjoyed being around. His mother told him sadly that they moved away, and that he was not allowed to ask about it. At the time, he believed her, but would grow to believe that something much worse than moving happened to them.

In school, Jacob was always fairly likable. He was charming and polite to the teachers and the kids knew him for being relatively popular. He would make friends well, being easily sociable. He spent most of his time with the girls though, writing poems for them or drawing the ladies pictures during class. He never really dated anyone, as he wasn’t interested in being told what to do by anyone, so he mostly just enjoyed their company when he could.

Now Jacob is still struggling to understand who he is and the world around him. His mother did well to keep him “innocent” to many things about how the world works. He needs a big reality check, because he lives in one of the lower districts and stills has an idea that things are okay the way they are. His mother did so much as to not really explain to him how the government works, food rations, or anything of the sort. Now, JT will hopefully get answers to questions he never asked.
