Name: Willow Tate Roseta
Age: 28 years.
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 11
Appearance:
She's spunky, able to get through things with a strong will. Sometimes its hard for her though, and when Marlow (her husband) died of pneumonia, she was extremely depressed for weeks. That is one of Willow's weaknesses, her bouts of depression. When overtaken by it, she becomes almost on the brink of ill. Still its only emotionally, but none the less makes her terribly sick. When people talk to her during these times, it helps tremendously. Because then she knows at least someone cares.
Another weakness of hers, if one could call her that, is Peyton. The little girl is the only one Willow loves more than anyone or anything in the entire world. When Marlow died, Peyton became Willow's most treasured person, and the mother has strived to keep her daughter safe no matter the consequences. Willow's mother has told her many times that it wouldn't be worth it to die for Peyton or to try and prevent her from being taken away to the Games if that ever happened. Yet the woman stands firm in her resolve, knowing that Joyce has never been a lovable or loving person in the very least.
[/ul][/blockquote]History:
She was seventeen when she met Marlow, and it wasn't 'instant love' at all. In fact, Willow didn't even like Marlow for a while, since his humorous and charming personality put her off immediately. For so long Willow had been deprived of good and nice things and people. Her mind had been so clouded with the death of her best friend and the evils she had experienced, that there wasn't immediate room for kind people to become her friends. After almost a year of Marlow tagging along behind her in the fields, talking her ear off, and tapping into her cold and hardened heart, Willow finally warmed up to him. Still, it took months for their relationship to grow into love, and by then they were old enough (and had been for a while) not to have the fear of being pulled in the reaping.
Willow married Marlow, and the two spent three and half years together. To say they were just 'wonderful' wouldn't be quite true, as it is always hard for ones so poor to keep themselves alive and to find enough food to do so. Especially when a baby comes into the mix, which was, of course, Peyton. The girl was born to Willow and Marlow at a particularly hard time in their lives, when food was scarcer than usual for them all. Three years after Peyton's birth, Marlow died of a horrific case of pneumonia, and left Will and Peyton to survive on their own.
Even though Willow was barely keeping herself afloat in the depression department, she still clung to Peyton. The woman was overly protective of her for months to come, and tried with every last bit of strength she had to make sure her daughter wouldn't die as well. They had the most horrible time staying alive, and many close calls. One, while playing out in the fields, Peyton was overtaken with so much hunger that she almost ate a handful of grapes without knowing how terrible a crime to the Peacekeepers it was. They caught her, her fist nearing her mouth, and Willow had to plead with them not to punish her four year old in such a way that would scar her for life. In fact, Willow stepped in to take the punishment herself, which was another short whipping (since Peyton hadn't even eaten the grapes anyway, it wasn't as horrid as it could have turned out to be).
Joyce, Willow's mother, sometimes helps out with Peyton, and the little girl seems to be growing on the older woman slowly but surely. Pey' does this to most people, just by flashing her cute little smile, and Willow has often commented that she's inherited about ten times more of her father's charm than he even had in the first place.[/ul]

[/i] lives on the line as well as hers. Bribery, she has learned, is the key way to get what you want, and its worked wonders for her in the past. When dealing with anyone she doesn't know, Willow immediately snaps into 'guarded mode'. Her mind is always on the alert for anything in the dangerous world she lives in, and Will knows its dangerous. She doesn't try to cover up that fact like others.
