Age: 17
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 11
Appearance:
She is tall - she stands at 5'8 - and is pretty strong. Even though she is only 17, she is shaped like a woman. Shes fully grown and knows it. Her breasts are on the bigger side, paired with a trim waist, and a tight butt - she catches all of the wandering male eyes. She has long dusty blonde hair that goes down to rest in between her shoulder blades, and she always wears it in a ponytail. In the sunlight it turns gold; when her hair is down, and the sun is setting, she looks like an angel. She has eyes that are like the storm clouds, morphing and changing with her mood. Her eyelashes are long and dark, paired with dark eyebrows, high cheekbones and a delicate chin she looks almost cat-like.Personality:
Her skin is soft, and despite her working in the sun all day, it is still light, not dark like her friends'. She has a scars all over her from her many adventures in the forest. The easiest one to see is on her neck right underneath her left ear - it isn't shaped like anything, its simply a line that follows her jaw for about two inches.
Linnea was named after a flower, because her parents wanted a daughter that was just as sweet and delicate. She is the farthest thing from delicate and sweet. Being the oldest she is the one her younger brothers look to as a role model. She is tough, sarcastic, and a total tomboy. She is very analytical and will break things down a million times over before she understands it fully. She has more guy friends than girl friends. She can talk about anything with guys: sports, hunting stories, scars, and what they would do if they didn't have to work in the fields. She likes hanging out with guys because they don't judge her like girls do. They are more fun and less drama. Even though she only hangs out with boys, she still likes them. She loves watching them when they are hot and sweaty out in the fields. She loves how they are solid and strong, and how their arms surround and protect her. Oh she likes guys alright, even if she's "one of the boys".History:
When it comes to boys she plays hard to get. She is cool and collected, and let's her over-analytical mind take over. She second guess's every move she makes and every move made on her. In order for her to be 100% sure that a guy likes her, he has to come out and say it. Not that living in Panem allows any time to be wasted on boys. She is too busy trying to help her family get by.
She cares deeply for her two younger brothers, Conall (16) and William (11) and will do anything for them. The only time she will ever be "sweet" like the flower she was named after will be when she is among her family. It is almost as if she is two different people. She is cold, hard, and sarcastic around her friends and in the fields. But around her family she is funny, lively, and loving. She would never let her brothers participate in the Hunger Games, even if they are supposed to be the men of the house. She would rather die than watch her family starve; which is why she and her brother, Conall, go hunting every day they have off work. Lin is really brilliant with traps and snares, while Conall is the one that shoots the animals. Lin wishes she could shoot birds out of the air or kill the ones on the ground while she hid up in a tree, but she is more of a hand-to-hand combat type of girl. Even though Conall is only a year younger than she, he towers over her and can beat her at anything involving strength. With him standing at 6'1 and her at 5'8, they make a vicious pair. When they go in the woods, after they have caught a few rabbits and birds, they do a little sparring. They aren't practicing for the games or anything, this is just what they do to stay in shape, to keep their strength up, and to bond.
Linnea is very guarded around strangers, which is why she comes off like she has two different personalities. She doesn't really have a split personality, she is just very careful with who she opens up to. It takes a long time for you to get to know the real Linnea Sloane. But once you are past those initial walls and boundaries, she will open up to you completely. She will tell you about her dream to own her own orchard and to pick the fruit from the trees and eat them right there in the shade. She will tell you of her love for the sea, and how she would love to go to District 4 and see it. She will show you that underneath the hard exterior, she is sweet and delicate like the flower her parents named her after.
As soon as she could walk, her father - Albert - would bring her into the forest and taught her everything there is to know about the woods. He taught her how to make traps, track animals, and to use the forest. When she turned 10, her father began teaching her how to fight. At first it was just to defend herself from the bullies and big kids at school, then it turned into self-defense from anyone who tried to mess with her. Albert knew that people would do crazy things in desperation, and he did his best to prepare his children for the worst. Albert had been taught how to fight by his father, and his father had been taught by his grandfather, and so on and so forth. Lin is a very fast learner and was sparring with her father at the age of 15. Albert didn't forget about Conall either, he taught him how to fight with his hands, but Conall was far better at shooting things at long distances than he was at quick hands and feet. Albert tried to teach Lin how to shoot a bow and arrow, but she was much better at anticipating punches and kicks than she was at trying to shoot a bird out of the air 100 yards away.Codeword: oDair
Soon, Conall and Lin were having target and sparring practice in the woods with her father every day they didn't have to work in the fields. Until her father was arrested, he had been smuggling food in and out of District 11 and selling it to the people of District 11 and to other districts. He was taken away by some Peacemakers and never seen again. At first, Lin was devastated by this. She was furious with the Capitol for taking away her father. Then she grew angry with him for being so stupid and getting caught. After a while she grew out of her anger and started to respect her father.
She grew curious about how he had managed to do it. She wondered how he had not only come up with a way to steal food from the fields without getting caught, but also how he had shipped them from District 11 to the other districts. She couldn't even imagine how long it must have taken to find all of the loop holes and blind spots in the security. Lin wishes he was still around so that she can ask him all of her questions, and because her mother simply went off the deep end after he was arrested.
Her mother - Maya - has been silent since the day Albert was arrested. She ignores Linnea, Conall, and William entirely. Lin doesn't even consider Maya her mother anymore - she only thinks of her as a tenant. Lin has tried and failed to talk to her mother about this, because it is a serious issue. Every time Lin tries to speak to her, Maya just gets up and moves to another room. Lin no longer considers Maya her mother because she has clocked out completely as the mother of three children.
Conall and William look to Lin for guidance and she does her best. She always has food on the table, whether it be some steamed plants or some hot rabbit. She always lets her mother have some food before she herself eats; and her brothers are always fed before everyone else.
The scar on her neck happened when she and her brother were sparring in the woods. He was shooting arrows at her - blunted arrows of course - and he was supposed to be aiming for her chest because she was wearing a makeshift chest protector. She was working on her stealth skills, and he was practicing shooting moving targets. Whenever they practice, they get really into it; both of them are very competitive, and have no problem with making the other bleed a little. She had crept behind him and was behind a tree, waiting for the right moment to come up behind him. He was walking slowly through the brush, straining to hear any tell-tale sound that would give her away. She took her steps slowly and carefully, willing her feet to melt into the leaves rather than crunch them. She nicked a small branch with her arm and he immediately swung around and shot. She didn't dive out of the way fast enough and the arrow had scraped her neck. It just barely hit her neck, but it was enough to leave a scar.
