Ryce, District 11

Ryce is a dark tan girl, since most of eleven is dark-skinned. She is a little tall, but more on the average side at 5'6". Her fingernails are sharp, but short. She has muscle, especially upper body. Ryce is skinny at around 120 lbs. There's no fat, though. It's all muscle. Who has the food or resources for extra fat?

Ryce's face is heart-shaped. She has eyes that are considered hazel, but they really don't have a name. There are green, blue, and hazel flecks in her eyes, and they do turn to a darker green when she's mad. She has full pink lips, which can mislead someone into thinking that she is vulnerable. She has thick, curly brown hair with ringlets, and it gets tangled all the time.

You would want to be nice to Ryce. She has a bit of a temper, but only when someone deliberately annoys her. She can be very loyal and protective. She's pretty open to new friends and doesn't dislike anyone if they don't give her a reason to. She usually doesn't pick any fights, and doesn't like to.

Ryce is very intelligent. She has common sense and is good at problem solving. She knows that animals are much more trustworthy and enjoyable than people, which is why she befriended a falcon that flies around the field that she works in. She wishes she could run away, but she knows she must stay to help keep her family alive, since like other District 11's, she is very poor. The only reason why she really hates the idea of going into the Hunger Games is because she knows her parents couldn't survive without her helping out. She doesn't care about dying elsewise. It's a part of life.

Ryce can be very responsible, and has been since she was very young. She was always mature, which helped her when she was trying to get some extra food from some people. She can be clever, but sometimes she just uses the wrong strategy and ends up in trouble. When it comes to danger, she would rather hide than fight unless it's a fight she knows that she'll win. She stays out of trouble, as she knows how severe punishments can be.

Ryce has her parents, and that's it. The only reason she was born was because her parents agreed that she would be a great help to the family. Ryce's mother, Praira, has almost always been sick ever since she had Ryce. She gets winded very easily. Because of that, Ryce's father is always either with her mother or working in the fields, so Ryce doesn't see either of her parents very often except for at night.

Ryce grew up having to work hard. Sickness was not an excuse, and there were no days off, no matter what. When she was seven, her friend's family was slowly starving to death. When she was caught sneaking some unripened rice, she was beaten and died shortly after. After that, Ryce's friends were the animals that lived around the field.

The family works in a rice field. They barely get by. Ryce's mother refuses to let her sign up for tessera, but she probably will anyway. They need it. Ryce's mother gets sicker every year, and Ryce has no idea how long her mother has left to live.

The falcon isn't really a pet; it's more of an old friend. Sometimes Ryce dreams (unrealistically) of finding someone who loves her, and then maybe her family would get along fine... But that's silly, of course.
