Kani Nolan (District 4)

Kani Nolan seems normal enough. He has some muscles and seems athletically fit due to his job helping with the fishing and he is tan because of his constant working outside in the hot sun with the water reflecting off the surface of the Ocean. He stands about 5'9 and weighs about 149 lbs. That being said he cannot lift things easily unless they are about or lighter than half his weight. He is not a bodybuilder however, he is fast and quick with his hands.

He has clear blue eyes and dirty blonde hair that he is constantly messing with usually a sign of him getting nervous or feeling uneasy. He often wears orange clothes since orange is his favorite color. He also carries with him a necklace with a tooth of a fish he found on a fishing trip with his father.

That being said his most prominent facial features is his eyes. His nose and eyebrows could be described normal at best. Neither being prominent or completely invisible.

Kani tends to be a very easygoing person. He finds solace in the ocean and his work and cares deeply about his friends and tries to avoid topics of politics and the Hunger Games. When the topics are brought up in discussion he tries to focus on his work to forget the horror that he usually watches on TV during Hunger Game season.

He is secure with his friends and feels comfortable being around them. His worse fear is to be alone and losing those dear to him. Which is why he often socializes and remains on merry and happy topics so that none of the memories he has with those he loves are bad ones. He is not a jokester but he can take a joke and laugh embarrassments off and had been known to prank people occasionally as a child.

Because Kani relies on his friends it can be hard for him to let go of a relationship if it has failed. Often leading to conflict that hurts him more or allowing him to be manipulated easily. While for most people a second chance tends to be the last chance, Kani will easily go into chances 3, 4,and 5 before he finally realizes that he is being played for a fool. After that he will normally get angry and struggle to keep his temper in check isolating himself until he feels better or going out to work more.

Kani also dislikes mispronunciations of his name, often getting frustrated with those who mispronounce on accident or on purpose. Some people pronounce it as they would "Connie" or "Ka-ni" however Kani's name is properly pronounced as "Ka-nai".

Kani was born around the time of the 41st Hunger Games. He barely remembers the 45th but the 50th quarter quell has been seared into his memory when he first began watching he remembered a beautiful arena filled with lovely flowers and he didn't understand why everyone was so upset about the Games. It was soon he realized the pretty things were poisoned and seeing people from his district and others get killed took a toll on him. As such he refuses to talk about the Hunger Games instead watching with a stony silence trying hard to make sure he doesn't get too attached to the people who get chosen for the reaping.

Kani's family is made up of his Mother, Father, and little sister. Kani's father taught him how to fish at a young age and his mother taught him how to make knots for nets. His happiest times are taking his younger sister (aged 8) to the oceanside during off hours and looking for seashells that wash up to give to their mother. His mother works at a pearl gathering area. Often diving into the water to get Oysters to open up and discover pearls and growing oysters in a farm. Kani's father mans one of the fishing boats that catch fish for the capital.

When asked about his childhood Kani often comments that it was normal and he has no reason to hate his past. If anything he came from a loving family who support him just as much as he supports them. He dreams on becoming a sailor and fisher like his father and earning enough to help his family sustain their comfortable living. He has a tight group of friends that he relies on and has attended school with for a long time.
