Appearance:

Serena is a semi-tall girl from district 4, who has worked the docks for as long as she remembers. She has strong, tanned arms that are used to lifting heavy loads, such as the crates and barrels that come and go from district 4. Because of this, the muscles in her arms and legs are prominent. They also add to her weight, about 140 pounds of skin and bones. People are often intimidated by this, and tend to back off from her.

Her thick black hair runs down her back, all the way to the back of her knees. It's generally described as a 'rats nest' as she doesn't have time to brush it in the rushed morning before work. It is generally shiny and slick, and very oily. Serena feels as if she has worked hard to get her hair that long, and is VERY sensitive of it. If anyone touches it thoug, they have a force to be reckoned with. (One persons scar never healed. Lets just leave it at that.)

She has a rather flat nose from when she was young. She also keeps a scar from where it was cut with a fishing line. It stands out among the more normal features of face, like her small ears and deep forest green eyes. Freckles also form a line across the bridge of her flat nose. Serena is incredibly embarrassed about this fact, and goes to great lengths to disguise it.

She has always been the in-betweener, as she is now, with her build being nothing exceptional, neither stout nor lanky, just...There. She is often considered normal by most people, and things beyond her appearance are rarely noticed. About 5 foot 3, Serena stands at eye level to most of district 4. People tend to look down on her because of her stature, but they get a fist in their face. Needless to say, most people who know her, know better.

Personality:

Serena is a friendly, but rough person, who jokes around with her friends, but is bitterly ill-disposed to her enemies. Unlike her friend Karanna, Serena has trouble keeping a level head in fights; and tends to be the first one blamed when something goes wrong. She is short tempered, and never really thinks her way through a fight. Most of her enemies (not that there are many) outsmart her constantly. This of course, makes Serena madder, and less civilized than she normally is.

Serena is brave, but often foolish and headstrong. She tends to rush into things, and dive headfirst. Along with that, she is very nosy, and a bit of a gossiper, though not if it'll hurt someone. Serena is (usually) blamed for hurting some one with her small talk, but it's (almost) never the case. Her bitter enemy, Minerva Springfell, is a teachers pet, that attacks her without violence, in a way that hurts her more.

Serena was born in district 4, and will always be a sailor at heart. She is always happiest when off the land. She releases her full self to the ocean when no one is watching, opening up from the strong, powerful school girl, to a softer, more fragile child that lurks inside her. She sometimes scoops one of the small silver fish that swim around the shore that she lives near. Serena enjoys thinking about the theory of evolution, and breeds those fish, for specific patterns and shades. Then, she sells them for a slight profit, but really; she only keeps them because she enjoys it.

History:

Serena is lucky enough not to have lost either of her parents or siblings to sickness, famine, or even accidents. She loves most of her family with all her heart. But- her father is a complete different matter. A raging hate burns within her heart, because her mother was his SECOND choice, and her only chose her because, the other one was married away. This, to Serena, was unforgivable, no matter what he did for her.

Serena was never the perfect student, to say the least. She got into more than her fair share of fights, thanks to Minerva. The principals office was a familiar place for her, and there was always that blue-chair-of-doom waiting for her. She never failed a class, but was never an A student. Always in-between...

Her nose is flat, because one day on the docks, when she was very young, she started playing with her fathers fishing equipment, and got tangled up in it. Her nose was the worst tangled, and turning blue, and since they could not unwrap the string, they needed to cut it. They ended up cutting off the tip of her nose, to sever the string.

Her family is fairly well of, but it hadn't always been so. When Serena was very young, about 3 or 4, they had their house taken away by the district, because of her father. Yet another reason to hate that gambling two-timer. When her eldest brother, Nathaniel, got a job in the shipping industry, her life returned to almost-normal. Nothing could change the memory that was burned into her mind, and the words that her mother had said to her, as they took apart her house. "We are Robinflights. We will survive." Nothing could make her forget those words, or the terrible, foreboding feeling that accompanied them.
