Appearance:

Sapphire is a twelve year old female with curly blond hair and eyes the color of baby blue that sparkle in the moonlight. Her skin is snow white, smooth and fair. She usually wears a pink frock with frills with pink tights that disappear into her brown boots that come half way up her skinny legs. Her long fingernails are painted with a hot pink gloss which are protected inside of a white glove. She wears a light pink hat with a pink ribbon tied around the middle.

Sapphire is about 5 foot 6 inches and weighs a little less than 85 pounds. Her face is peppered with freckles and she has a little button nose. On her left leg, you can almost see a tattoo beneath her knee. It is a picture of a single rose, with white petals and a forest green stem. Their are many bruises and burns down her arms and legs from training and from working with her father at his shop in the town center. She has a long scar down her right cheek from her cat when she was young.

Personality:

She is a prissy individual, snarky and rude. Very few can have a conversation with her without their feeling getting hurt. She insults her classmates and disrespects her teachers. But what does one expect of a merchant's child?

She is also romantic and likes the fourteen year old boy who sits next to her in class. She does not talk to him, for he ignores her, afraid to talk. Deep inside, Sapphire is a kind and loving person, but her heart has been scarred countless times.

She excels in logic and common sense, and can be a genius in times of survival. Her father has taught her how to throw a knife and how to use a mace in battle. Could her kindness shine through in the end, or will she become a nasty old witch??

History:

Sapphire was born when her mother was thirty nine. She is the youngest of the four children, Amethyst or Amy (17), Jade (15) and Ruby (13). They are all named after gemstones, which is a big industry in District 1. She is a merchant's daughter.

When Sapphire was just five, her brother Danburite (Danny) was chosen as the male tribute in the Hunger Games. He never returned. She cried and cried, the only person that cared about her, the only person that was friends with her, had died. She forced herself believe that she had made him die, thinking that she should have prayed more than she had. She hadn't tried hard enough to help him win.

When Sapphire was ten, her mother died. She had died of malaria, and had passed away in pain. Her father had quickly remarried, not mourning the great loss. She hates her father now, for remarrying and for forgetting about her mother. He never cared about anything.

Sapphire loves reading, imagining the impossible and reading love stories. Her heart aches often when she reads them, reminding her of her brother and her mother. Like many others in her district, Sapphire trains frequently, and can often be found lifting weights and toning.
At school, as every other child learns the "history" of Panem and how it was founded. She sometimes doesn't believe it, because teachers, have given her different "facts" throughout her schooling.
