Appearance
[/color][/b]Standing at a slightly below average height, deeming Luca at 5 feet and 4 inches, Luca isn't as thin as he is muscular. Years of exercise had left him equipped with a 6 pack, and muscular arms. Dark hair covers most of his body, especially his arms and torso, as well as his back. Luca has large, almost gawky feet and hands, both of them callused and scarred. His fingernails are bitten rather than cleanly cut, and often have a good amount of dirt underneath. Rather than freckles, Luca has birth marks. A couple circular ones rest on his arms, while others are much larger. On his back, a birthmark stretches over his left shoulder. All of them are slightly darker than his fair skin tone. Over his back are several long scars from a whipping. Luca's pores are quite large, contributing to rough skin, helped along by years of labor, and pimples. As an Avox, Luca lost his tongue, and is unable to talk. However, most people first notice his leg, rather than his speech impairment. His left leg is crippled, after a childhood accident, causing him a limp. From lack of use, it's much less muscular than his other leg, appearing weaker. Luca refuses a cane of any kind, and would much rather deal with his limp, using his other perfectly functioning leg. He often has to stop from the pain it causes him.
Sitting atop his slightly thick neck rests Luca's head. His face is long, and square-jawed. Above his jaw, and round chin, are his thin lips, peach in color. Not many would expect that without a tongue one's lips would fall into disrepair, but Luca's lips did. They're always cracked, dry, and bloody. Sores often pop up along them, and in his mouth, causing much discomfort. His teeth aren't too well-kept. They're straight, but yellowing considerably. Over his lips, and above his thick philtrum, is his rather large nose. It's long, with a thick bridge, and tear-drop shaped nostrils. Above that are his small close-set eyes. His eyes are brown, with gray accents, and a large jet-black pupil. Close above his eyes are thick dark eyebrows, which are almost triangle shaped. Luca also has a rather overbearing forehead, but it is usually covered by his thick, curly hair.
Luca's hair is extremely unruly. Dark brown, and increasingly curly, it falls diagonally across his forehead. From lack of washing, it's greasy, and may appear lank. He has sideburns, and stubble along his chin. However, he never lets any of his facial hair grow too long.

Personality
Luca is a determined figure of sorts. He refuses to give up, contributing to his nasty temper. When underestimated Luca has been known to have a terrible temper. It's quick, and as fierce as a forest fire. His face has been known to get red, and he can get violent, unable to express his fury with words. His anger comes from people thinking less of him, from being an Avox, from being the underdog. Luca hates not having control more than anything.
Luca has serious trust issues. Having lost his tongue and freedom to the Capitol, he is not loyal to them, but he is too scared to not obey. He never agrees to trust anyone unless he has a good reason too. He is wary of newcomers, and takes a long time to get to know people. However, he can be quite amiable, voiceless, but friendly once one gets to know him. Before that, he's distant, treading carefully. He only trusts and is loyal to a small group of people, rather than Panem or a larger group. Once loyal to someone, that bond is strong. Luca would never hesitate to do something for someone else he trusts.
Over the years, Luca has learned to endure pain. After a while, pain has become something he's quite accustomed to, therefore he's found it unimportant, a mere distraction. Luca is a man of actions, seeing as he cannot speak. However, his actions are often irrational. He never thinks anything through, and acts on instinct, leading to trouble. Luca is always looking for opportunities to prove himself, always engaged in physical activity, if he can.
Luca does his best to enjoy life, as down as his may seem. He escapes the trials of life through physical experiences. As an Avox, he often has little time to do this, but he does his best, never wasting a moment. His biggest fear is the darkness. The darkness holds many secrets and limitations, which Luca is highly opposed to. He does not sleep much at night, laying awake, trying to overcome the darkness that wraps around him.

History
Turner Stentori grew up in a large household in District 4. As the youngest to ten children, Turner was often ignored, and left behind. While his family went off fishing, Turner would stay behind, below everyone’s notice. He’d steal away to the junk yard, retrieve bits and pieces of objects, come home and put it all back together. He loved to invent things, repair things, create things. It was his passion. Of course, living in a fishing district, this wasn’t accepted. His parents scolded him, and Turner began to move farther and farther away from his parents. He’d pick fights amongst his siblings, and steal things from them in order to get back at them for something. His parents tried to little avail to “set right” the child. It came as an even worse surprise to them when he married Quinn Mitchell, a girl from the poorer part of town, with a family who hardly fished and did any work at all.
Losing faith in their youngest son, the Stentori’s decided to cut all ties from Turner, believing it unhealthy to have him in the family any longer. Turner, deeply hurt by his family’s rejection, was plunged into depression, a depression that forced him to retreat into the darkest corners of his home. His time was devoted to inventing new things, and muttering himself, sometimes coming home drunk. He began to grow thinner, and gaunt. Quinn, distressed at seeing him like this, did all she could to bring him back. She figured perhaps if she got pregnant that would pull him out of his stupor. However, his depression kept him from engaging in such activity. Dejected, and feeling completely hopeless, Quinn took to visiting a male friend. The friend, Denny, a single man, didn’t have to work hard to get Quinn to sleep with him. This went on for several weeks until finally Quinn realized she was in fact pregnant.
This news to Turner pulled him out of his depression. A child! He was not aware that the child was not his, figuring it was the result of a drunken night. Quinn, elated by his change, did not tell him the baby wasn’t his, and stopped going to see Denny, who was well aware of the identity of the child’s father. Nine months later, Luca Bennu Stentori was born. Overjoyed, Turner got back into his routine, going back into fishing, and inventing in his spare time. As soon as Luca could walk, Turner brought him out onto the docks, and began teaching him everything he knew.
When Luca was seven, he was lying on the docks. Some men came past toting a large heavy anchor. One of the men tripped, sending the anchor flying. It landed on Luca’s left leg, crushing it under its weight. Luca screamed, and Turner ran over, scooping up his son, and bringing him to the doctor in town. The doctor told them there was nothing to be done, the boy would remain crippled in that leg forevermore. More irritated then upset by this, Luca only used a cane for a couple years, being refusing it, preferring to strengthen his leg by limping about. With his impairment, Luca turned to the only thing he figured he could do in the fishing district: rowing.
Every morning, Luca and Turner would set out, Luca rowing, while Turner cast nets and caught fish. Neither of them knew that Denny watched from afar, envious of Turner for raising his child. Finally, when Luca was 14, Denny invited the family over. There, Denny revealed the truth, insisting he was Luca’s father, therefore he should raise him. A jealous man Denny was, he demanded Luca be handed over, and Quinn may come and live with him if she’d like to. Turner turned to Quinn, asking if it were true. Sobbing, Quinn admitted it: she’d had an affair. In a spat of anger, Turner attacked Denny, screaming at him. Quinn yelled, and ran off to alert a Peacekeeper. When the Peacekeeper arrived, he found Turner standing over the lifeless body of Denny, strangled, while Luca looked on in horror. The Peacekeeper drew his gun at Turner, but suddenly overcome with adrenaline, Luca attacked the Peacekeeper, unwilling to see Turner die now. He was loyal to the man who raised him as a son, and would never turn his back on him.
By the time more reinforcement arrived, the Peacekeeper in question was critically injured, having been stabbed several times by Luca’s pocket knife. The Peacekeepers managed to restrain both men. The penalty for attacking a Peacekeeper was steep, and Turner knew it. He begged the men not to hurt Luca, but they’d already seen enough. Turner was beat, and forced to watch Luca be Avoxed. The grown man wept as he watched the child he’d thought was his son in pain. Luca was sent to the Capitol, never to see Turner or Quinn again.
At the Capitol, Luca was immediately sent to work for a high-ranking official. The man, Jupiter, was cruel and took great delight in abusing his Avox servants, especially the young women who worked for him. Immediately, he gave Luca jobs that required him to go up many flights of stairs. With his bad leg, this often lead to falling and stumbling, but Luca just grit his teeth and went on. Luca sourly missed his life in District 4, and often sat up in bed, thinking about it. He’d rarely cry, but when he did, the Avox girl in the next room would hear it. Her name was Velia, and as a young, beautiful woman, she’d often be paid visits by Jupiter nightly. Luca would hear her crying as well. They’d both lie awake, listening to each other, until finally, Luca built up the courage to sneak into her room. They were both 16 by that point. At first, they were nervous and awkward around each other, but figured out a way to talk to each other by writing words on the dusty floor. They created a friendship, comforting each other, and eventually began to help each other around the house. Their relationship flourished further, until finally Velia welcomed Luca into her bed. This went on for hardly a week before Jupitor found them both. Angry, he whipped both of them, beating Luca harder than ever. Luca was forced to sleep in the cellar, learning to stay out of Jupitor’s way and things quieted for awhile. However, a month later, Velia realized she was pregnant, much like Quinn was. She was unsure of who’s child it was, but knew she couldn’t keep it from Jupitor. Now enraged, knowing far too well that it could be Luca’s child, Jupitor forced Velia to get an abortion, and cast Luca out of the house.
Just as dejected as if father, Luca was accepted into another home. He decided to go about his work, but still misses Velia, Turner, Quinn and the life he’d been forced apart from. As an Avox, Luca knows he must obey, as to not risk anyone else getting hurt. He does his best to move ahead of those trials, keeping his chin up, doing as he’s told. He exercises in his spare time, doing his best to strengthen his bad leg. He’s been there for three years.
