Ten. Ten tributes stood between Liliana and home. It didn’t seem real. Lili hadn’t encountered a single other tribute, yet somehow thirteen of them had managed to die. Perhaps the arena wasn’t as big as she thought. Perhaps it was just pure luck that had kept her from meeting her death on the end of another tributes sword. Whether it was luck or skill, she wouldn’t complain. Regardless, she was a lot better off than some of the other tributes.
Lili had spent the night wandering around the sand, trying to make her way to a different tower, to water. She hadn’t gotten very far before darkness fell, and she was unable to see the other towers. She had tried to continue on in approximately the right direction, but got herself hopelessly turned around. In the end, she decided it was probably best to just wait it out until morning. Hours later, that was when she had seen the anthem, counted the tributes, recounted, and realized how close she was to home. She was more determined than ever to survive. She even somewhat hoped to find someone else out here. She had to kill someone before leaving this place.

Every man has a place,
In his heart there's a space,
And the world can't erase his fantasies.

Still Lili walked on. It seemed like all she had done in this arena was walk. She was so restless, so sick of walking through this never ending desert. Not only was she bored, she was tired, and thirsty. It seemed like every step she took, her thirst doubled. She hadn’t had anything to drink in two days, and if she didn’t get something to drink today, she knew she’d never make it through the night.
Hold up, Ana’s voice warned her. Lili slowed, wondering what it could be now. Ana usually didn’t say anything unless it would directly affect her chance of survival. Looks like you won’t have to worry about the thirst killing you. At least, not yet. Lili instinctually tensed, ready to hide. Of course, it wouldn’t do her much good. There wasn’t anything to hide behind out here, and the towers were all too far away to take shelter in. Then, Lili spotted her. The girl, moving quickly towards her. Another tribute. Lili didn’t recognize her, but that wasn’t a surprise. Lili only knew the names of a select few tributes, most of whom were already dead.

Every thought is a dream,
Rushing by in a stream,
Bringing life to the kingdom of doing.

Knowing her name doesn’t change anything, moron. You can’t run, you can’t hide. The only thing left to do is fight. You’re going to kill her, whether you know her or not. It wasn’t a suggestion. It was an order. Lili would fight, and she would kill this girl. There was no other option, if she wanted to win. Her hands shook slightly. She had gotten too used to being alone here. She hadn’t seen another person in what seemed like forever. Well, she wasn’t alone anymore. Her luck had just run out.
Liliana ran forward, closing the distance between the two girls within a matter of seconds. She hefted her axe, mentally preparing herself to use it on another person for the first time. She swung with all her might at the girl, praying it would end quickly.

Come to see victory,
In a land called fantasy.
