The Anthem — Day 6

The ever-shifting mass sand beneath your feet seems to grow still all of a sudden, as the torrent of granules raining down from above momentarily ceases. The Capitol seal takes its place along with a loud swell of familiar music that you recognize as the anthem. The notes sound slightly flat, as if something is bending the pitch, and it manages to make the haughty tune sounds as if it is ridiculing you even more than usual.

The melody finishes, and the seal is replaced by the faces of the dead:

Yaron Raidan, District 8

It only takes three of your fingers to tally up the dead, and the subtraction is simple enough that even your tired brain realizes that there are only eleven tributes left in the arena including yourself. Ten more have to die if you're to make it home.

The music stops and the projection fades, throwing the Arena into darkness once more.
