A Breath Taking View
Eli Cardozo
District 6
Eli woke up this morning to a humid moist room. He got up immediately and put on his clothes. He then walked out to see his mom and his father on the phone talking in hushed voices. "Oh he's here I guess we should share the good news". Her voice sounded excited but he guessed it may of been a stupid promotion. Thats all they care about....promotions. "So..what is it" he said. "Well... were going to the 56th Hunger Games Arena!" "Really" he jumped with joy as his step sister walked out dressed to. "Well...we better get going" his mom said. They walked out the door and walked to the train station. When the boarded the train it took off. It seemed like hours before they finally arrived.
Eli stepped out and excitedly ran over to the cornucopia. He looked inside and saw where all the weapons were. He looked around and noticed spots were other tributes died. He let out a sigh. "You know how messed up this is". He said in a ungrateful voice. "Just enjoy it honey". His mom snapped angrily. Then he said. "Lets play hide and seek Jess". he said to his sister. She started counting when he ran inside the cornucopia and sat down. Why am i playing hide and seek in a arena were children my age were slaughtered? He stood up to hear his sister say "Ready or not here I come". Oh no he said as she walked in. He ran passed her and tripped over some grown creepers in the gravel. He fell on his nose and a thick pool of blood spread out from his head as he was on the ground. He got up and took his shirt off. He gently nudged it on his nose.
After a while the bleeding stopped and he threw his shirt on the ground. He just couldn't take in the fact that he was at a arena. He suddenly remembered those games. How horrible they were. Lots and lots of blood. They walked around taking in sights that were unimaginable to the human eye. He finally gave up and shouted "can we leave this is getting uncomfortable knowing that a bunch of innocent children died here". He stormed off to the train station and sat and waited for his parents and step sister to come so they could leave.
