I sat there. At the stool in front of the cash register. I took a breath of the shop's air in through my nose. A blast of different spices that were set up around the shop hit me. Wow, I never realized until now that the shop had it's own way of making everything smell nice. I could smell the different spices and instantly name them all. Dill, cinnamon, curry powder, garlic, ginger, and some recent traces of mint. I am pretty sure my dad was making a minty sort of spice because I could hear him yelling in triumph.
I walked into the back to see that I was correct.
"Making a new spice?" I ask.
He nods and I look over his shoulder to smell a nice aroma come from the mint spice.
"What is it exactly?" I ask.
"Well, it's a ground mint leaf and a few drops of lemon juice," He told me, "try a taste, it's good."
He held out a tiny bit of it on the end of the spoon he held in front of my face.
I tasted it. It was very good and I was happy he created a new spice to sell in the shop.
"It's great!" I answer.
And he smiles when I say this. He must be equally happy about his new spicy invention.
"Here," He says, pushing a couple spice containers toward me.
I looked inside them and there was already a bunch of the stuff. It was labelled: 'Citrus Mint'.
Dad told me to go set it up out in the front and I instantly knew he was talking about the shop. I did as I was told and after setting them up at a table, I put a small sticker that said 'New!' on all twelve of them. I moved back to my place at the cash register and hoped for someone to come in so I could say, 'We have a new spice, it's called Citrus Mint.'[/color]
