Finding some personal alone time is incredibly hard to do these days, not with adults milling about or bullies trying to pick a fight. It's a miracle that Ronan managed to find a quiet place near the "training" field where he could read a book on plant anatomy and botany without some epic disturbance.
He likes to read, he likes having knowledge, and if anything, it's the one thing that his trainers have encouraged with him. What's the point of having high intellect if you aren't gonna use it after all. Books keep his mind armed with things that others don't bother to learn, it gives him advantage, and Ronan knows how important having an advantage is for someone as small as he is.
