I may be paranoid, but not an android
When I escaped the Capitol, I knew I was going to be in for a rough ride. For starters- I was traveling in an old carriage cart that carried supplies from station to stations, district to district. Luckily for me, it was outward bound with little supplies on board- with only a few small logs still rolling around in the carriage I snuck into. Secondly- the carriages were made of metal. It was cold to the touch and would get colder if the train continued on its journey through the night.
I sat in the corner of the carriage, in almost complete darkness. The blackness was so thick that I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. As I waited for the carriage to begin its journey, my heart beat loudly against my ribs- my head swimming with the sound of the blood pumping through my head. I feared being caught- the fact that I were a stow away as well as a run away would not look good. It wasn't long after I had snuck inside- did I hear the workmen checking things, making sure that every thing was working to allow the train to work at its best. Seconds later, the train jolted foreward and began to move. The vibrations through the metal carriage carried up my spine and into my head; drowning out the noise of my heart beating.
At some point, after what seemed like days, I must of fallen asleep because the train had stopped moving and I had no recolation of the train stopping. Silence had befallen the enviromment around me, not a movement was to be heard. Only the sound of my breathing alone in the world. Slowly, and catiously, I stood and crossed to beneath the hole I had climbed in to get inside. The sky was a dark violet- indicating it once night once again. Slowly I clambered up and peered around. No one insight- the train had stopped in the middle of a forest with no station or refill area in sight. It was probably just stopping for the night to allow the driver to have some rest. The area, was wooded. For as far as the eye could see- it was woodland stretching out forever; the tall connifers towering over head letting the silver moonlight rain down through their branches.
I jumped down, landing on the soft forest floor. I wondered where I was- I could be between Districts for all I knew. However, we had lost several carriages already- 6 to be exact. I looked around and saw no sign of driver nor guards if there were any. Slowly I walked into the forest. It soon became apparent that wearing the dress I was wearing was not a good idea. It kept getting snagged on twigs of bushes, tearing and pulling apart the fabric. My hair was also getting in the way. I had stupidly forgotten to tie it up before I escaped and it was now getting caught amoung the branches as well. However, I soon found myself in a small clearing of sorts- with mossy woodland foliage lying on the ground like a Carpet. Gazing around, drenched in silver moonlight- I observed where I was when a faint light in the distance caught my eye before I noticed others joined.
A District- not far from where I stood but it would be another couple of hours walk from where I stood and my legs and eyelids had grown heavy from the long walk. I stifled a yawn stretching my arms. I felt safer here, but not intirely safe. For all I knew- I was outside District 12 in the wilderness. Which would not be good if it were added to my reasons to be killed. However, judging by the amount of wood and how it intertwiened with the District ahead made me conclude that I must be within the fences of the wood felling District- District 7. From what I had read- was that 7 was by far one of the Largest Districts besides District 11 but was by far the least inhabited. Almost 95% of the area was woodland and the District bordered District 9, 10 and the Capitol as well as the Northen Mountains and of course, the Wilderness.
I yawned once more- deciding that it was time for me to retire to a night sleeping in the cold. I walked over to one of the large trees and lay at its foot. I stared up at the night sky- listing off the constelations I could see and recognize untile I fell asleep.. I woke again, and it was morning. The sun now replaced the moons rays within the forest and the stars had disappeared along side. Sitting, I listened to the morning bird songs. I had never heard a bird before- not in real life atleast. I had read of them, and their calls but never heard their songs. It was beautiful- the orchestra of the forest. The wind brushing through the branches, the birds and the sound of two persons approaching. I immeaditly perked up looking round for the people- afraid it were Peace Keepers coming to get me.
Slowly I stood and called out into the forest "Hello? Whose there?"
