Tahlia glanced over her shoulders as she entered the dark green woods. It was sunset and the trees were lit up with the many colors it had to offer. It was the first time in a while she had ventured into the woods after work. She had been extremely busy lately and had had no time for herself. As the cool winds of the night crept down and blew back her wavy blonde hair, Tahlia sat down on her favorite log. It was a little wet from the rain earlier that day, but she didn't care.
Tahlia grabbed one of the large rocks off the ground and put it on her lap. It was about the size of her head, but it was smooth and flat. She then reached down and retrived a smaller, rounder rock off of the ground. Tahlia then began to sketch the sunset. The larger rock acted as a piece of paper, and the smaller rock took on the job of a pen. It was a trick that Tahlia had figured out a couple of weeks ago that saved paper and was much more fun to draw the sunset on. When Tahlia had finished her picture and the sun had sunk down into the horizon, Tahlia lied down on the log and gazed up at the dark blue sky as stars began to appear.
The stars dotted the skies as spots dotted a ladybug. Tahlia sat and thought about everything going on around her. Normally, Tahlia would have went home around this time to make dinner for her dad and for Madeleine, her sister. Ever since David had become her adopted brother, he had been left in charge of most of her family's meals because he was such a good cook. That was why Tahlia decided to stay out a little longer tonight.
Suddenly, Tahlia heard leaves crunching over to the left of her. She abruptly sat upright and hid behind the nearest tree. She was frightened because she didn't have anything to defend herself with if peacekeepers found her. Tahlia could only hope that whoever it was didn't notice that she was there. She could only pray that her special place had not been discovered by the peacekeepers of District 7.
