Alright, to start it off, let's put a couple poems.
Give me light
A darkening heart
Coming across fallen stars
Each one giving her a tiny hope
But when they die
The flames are extinguished
The bright light
Trying to fight the darkness
But can't reach her
Though he tries
Stretching out a hand.
She falls
He calls
Desperate for a sign
She screams
He dreams
Both feeling blind.
Reasoned beyond hope
Needing to find themselves
Lost in the darkness
So far
Yet so close.
Slipping through;
The brave jay
A song pure of heart
Woven around the lovers,
Tearing the darkness apart.
Upon the cry
Sight was finally found
And in their arms
The other was bound
Ever separated
Never apart.
Celestials
Falling forth, the evening sun
Saying it's many goodnights
Displaying it's colourful shimmers
As it sinks below the sights,
Sinking low, the morning moon
Whispers of 'goodlight'
Casting its final silver mist
As it fades into the night,
A silent wing, a haunting howl
The animals of the night do stir
As all around them, rustling
The birds of morning were
A song of day, the hoot of night
Wings that slowly flap
The call of the feathered ones
Alert all to their perhaps,
'Good night' they hoot
'Good day' they cheep
Then they go about their business
While the others sleep,
Morning moon and evening sun
Eternal opposites, matching mirrors
Lighting the lives of those below
Making their actions clearer.

War
War is cold and peace is sweet
Blood, that's warm, causes tears of weep
Cruelty rains, kindness falls
It is not the jay that calls.
Screams of pain, tears of sorrow
Some won't wake up tomorrow.
Hate flowers, blooming bloody red
Love falls to pieces, shattered by the dead.
War is cold and peace is sweet
Blood, that's warm, causes tears of weep
Cruelty rains, kindness falls
It is not the jay that calls.
Screams of pain, tears of sorrow
Some won't wake up tomorrow.

Let the Truth Shine
How can we evolve,
When there is a problem,
We cannot solve,
One that affects us all.
It shadows our thoughts,
It covers our hearts,
It makes us believe,
In things besides the truth.
Can't we come together,
And decide as a whole,
To change the world we live in,
So it's not so cold.
We can overthrow the darkness,
And boldly shine the light,
For truth is our ally,
Even when we lose the fight.
It's a harsh reality,
That we cannot accept,
Another of the same,
They're considered different.
Must we separate,
When we are all the same,
What does appearance matter,
When inside we share a name.
So hold up that candle,
Let the truth shine through,
They may look different,
But they're just like me and you.
It's our denial that drags us down,
The truth is the key,
To setting our hearts and minds free,
So let the truth shine through.
It's a dawning realization,
One that needs to spread,
Dispelling the illusions,
That made superiority grand.
And then we can evolve,
As the worst problem,
We have come to solve,
Letting the truth shine through.
How can we evolve,
When there is a problem,
We cannot solve,
One that affects us all.
It shadows our thoughts,

Horrors
The boy with the haunted eyes
Hiding in the shadows
No one knows his story
No one hears his words
He's alone with his horrors
Outside he appears blank
Inside is a raging turmoil
His disguise is immaculate
But he's waiting for someone
To break through and save him
Retrieve his soul from the dark
The girl with the unfocused gaze
Her life is a mindless routine
She never wakes
From her endless nightmare
She cries in the night
Alone with her horrors
She fakes her life
Living only from habit
Another darkened door
She passes through them all
Unblinking, unfazed
She had survived worse
In her ghastly dreams
He thinks of only what has happened
His mind locked in the past
Despite his dreams of the future
The former is all he has
They walk past the other
A quick glance tells it all
They see past the guise
To the underneath that is true
An unspoken agreement
Now together with their horrors.

If I Could
If I could
Take your place
I would
Fight your battles
Not for the Glory
But for the Pain
If I could
Keep you close
I would
Save you from suffering
Not for the Glory
But for the Pain
If I could
Protect you
I would
Even at the cost of my life
Not for the Glory
But for the Pain
If I could
Cry your tears
I would
Dry your eyes
Not for the Glory
But for the Pain
If I could
Hold you near
I would
Give you my love
Not for my Glory
But to ease your Pain.
If I could
Take your place
I would
Fight your battles
Not for the Glory

Ranchers
Up at dawn,
Sleepy eyes gaze at
Husky dawn sky;
See the silhouette,
A lone figure walking,
Swinging a lead.
Hear the nicker
As the gate slides open;
The clink of a clip
As horse and rider are joined.
It’s time for a comb,
Then work is on its way.
Creaking leather, the flap of a blanket;
Dressed and ready
They set out,
Off to push horns.
Smell the sweet hay,
As the ponies chew breakfast.
A long day, dusty day
Taste the flying grit
Watch the cattle run
Horse and rider as one
Driving them home,
Back to the sweet hay.
Feel the metal of the gate,
And the jolt as it closes.
The steer are home for the night
It’s time to pass out supper
Before relaxing
Because a rancher never sleeps.

A Moment To Breathe
The times were dark
The evenings bleak
Many wouldn't come back
The lucky survived the week
Stripped from home
And thrown away
The lives of men
Artillery comes to slay
The living fall
As the dead sore
A thousand numbers
Now are no more
The muck is gray
The water brown
It's hard enough
Not to drown
Starving and rotting
Blown to pieces
How to survive
With all the diseases
A green cloud
The mustard gas
As every breath
Might be the last
Then it's over
And in that final breath
You realize nothing happened
Nothing changed with your death
Though you fought bravely
It was all for naught
As your country is ruined
By the nation you fought
How did this all start
And how did it end
With logic like glass
Willing to break before it bends
Tension decreed this
And we didn't get far
As millions were killed
In the first world war
When all that was needed
Was a moment to breathe
But now it's too late
For all the deceased.
