God i hated it when I get caught, but gotta admit i gave Frank a good shiner. Looking around I see the peacekeepers joining up again for a beating. Mine. Frank comes over to me and takes a good look at me. Today i was in my worn jeans and a white tank top with my fathers Leather jacket around me. Frank standing about a head higher than myself looks down and smiles. Smiling back I jerk my knee up and make contact with Franks personals. The Peacekeepers holding my arms jerk me backwards moving me towards the stalks.Taking off my fathers jacket so its not destroyed I look over to him walking over."So Hart what was it today? " Frank asks in disbelief. I look at him and just smile. "Poaching" I say with a sigh, Frank rolls up his sleeves and takes the whip from a peacekeeper that stops my smarts remarks cold. Kent Whitherwrite saunters towards me with a smile on his wicked face. Turning my own i try not to look at him and ready my self for the slashes that are about to scar my back even more than they already have. Moving himself right in my vision i have no choice to look at him as Frank delivers my punishment. 10 lashes later they leave me in the square on the ground bleeding, as i try to get up.

I watch the girl as she is beaten by the peacekeepers. True I think it's a little much, she's only a girl after all, but far be it from me to criticize the peacekeepers in their work. After all, it can't be easy to control a district where everyone has owned a weapon and used it at one point or another. Ok, well anyone over the age of 11 that is. But if I didn't know any better I'd think that they almost enjoy wipping that girl senseless...

No! I know better than that. They only do it because they must. District Nine is going through changes and the peacekeepers can't afford to be weak in their punishments. The peacekeepers must do the unpleasant things like public torture to keep the districts in order. There are plenty of people who don't think they have enough and feel like breaking the law is what is best. Well I don't see how chaos is better than a slightly empty stomach.

I look back up as the peacekeepers begin to leave the beaten girl to bleed. People being to turn away and no one is willing to help her due to fear of their own safety, but I know that the peacekeepers wouldn't hurt anyone for helping this poor girl, she's paid her price and now she's free again. I walk over to her and put one knee to the ground. "It's ok. It's all over now. Come on little girl, I'll help you get home." I reach for her arms and try to help her lift herself to her feet. "If you didn't break the law they wouldn't harm you, ya know?"

I hear him before he reaches me , sitting my self up I look over at him. " Little girl? I dont know if you realize this but i am the same age as you are. We have been in the same class in school since we were little. " Getting up I wait to answer his comment about not breaking the law. He didnt understand, he hasnt been through the things i have fought for.
What ive gone through, he wouldnt understand i just keep telling my self before i eventually answer him." You wouldnt understand. The PK's and I have a good system going here... i piss them off... ok I piss one of them off and then I get the crap kicked outta me... and the cycle starts again.." I say as I am half leaning on the guy and half walking.I hear someone approaching us and I cring knowing exactly who it is. Knocking in to me He turns and smiles.

" You know Bren if you would jus listen to me all of this could stop.. how about I take you out after that heals in a few days " He laughs and starts towards me , I'm weak but not weak enough to throw a punch. " Kent get your lowlife ass away from me before I pumble you to the ground again. " I say leaping for him but stop because of the pain. I look over to the guy helping me out. " just get me home please"

OOC: Just curious if you know how to color your text...would make reading the voice of your character a lot easier. You don't have to if you don't want though, just a thought.

Jade Starr

Jade is disgusted by the blatant display of vigilance this girl shows toward the peacekeepers. What Jade can't seem to understand is why this girl continues to not only dislike the law and it's enforcers, but at such a level that repeatedly gets her beaten and bruised. Jade wonders what form of misguided teachings that this girl's mother has given to her. "You know they have to do their job. It's not like they actually enjoy whipping a young girl senseless." Jade is trying to get her to understand that its her own darn fault she got whipped in the first place. "Come on now. Nice and easy. That's it..." Jade guides her as they reach her doorstep and cross the threshold.

A voice call out from the other room inquiring if it is Ria returning home. So that must be the girl's name...Ria. Maybe Jade should talk to the mother. If she knew what her daughter was doing she might put a stop to this rebellious nature before it causes real damage to her and her daughter.

My mother comes to the kitchen and sighs pulling a chair out for me and starts to clear off the kitchen table. Mom keeps busy taking out the nessasary medicines i am going to need to get my back to heal. "Thank you for bringing her here" My mother says to him Ria our helper that comes over after school to help my mother walks in the door. Pausing she sees me and rushes away more in likely running to get our healer.

"Brenna what did you get caught doing this time? You hid the bow again correct?" My mother asks me I look at her then at him. Moving towards the door she closes it and looks at him. " I would appreatiate it if you do not repeat anything that may be said in this house. " Walking back to me she helps me on to the table and I look back at him and take my shirt off. laying on the table i lie on my stomach as my mother puts some salve on my lashes.

"Poaching.. we need food mom ,and you know better than anyone that i have the best shot in the district.plus you know I hate that Peacekeeper Kent and..." Mom touches one of my lashes and i wince and nodd my head getting the point to shut up.

OOC: Color is very simle to do. Just put the code [*color=X][*/color] around the area that you want with color. (Of course remove the * and put in a color for X, i.e. Red, Yellow, or even more complicated colors like BlueViolet.)

Also, could you start the next post with your character's name just so I know who I'm RPing with, just to be sure? thanks

"I understand mam." Jade says understandingly. "But do you realise how disrespectful your daughter is toward the peacekeepers here? she treats them like dirt!" Jade sighs and walks over to the cabinet where the girl's mother is and looks at the medicine. They seem to be of the simple varity that are cheep and most would be inadquate for the pain killers that this girl, I think the other girl called her Breanna?, would need to dull the pain enough. The mother is trying to coat her daughter's back with some sort of salve, but it seems to only take the edge of the pain off, nothing more.

Jade was pretty shocked when the girl just stripped her shirt off right in from of him but after tying it into the situation, he begain to understand how in a situation with her back all scrapped and beat up, it's understandable. Jade is wondering if maybe he could talk to his friend, Brandon, in the peacekeeper core, who just so happens to be second in command over the district. Maybe he could get a temporrary pass from the district in hopes to change this girl's mind about peacekeepers. After all, Jade himself is one day hoping to join the ranks of peacekeepers and Brandon himself knows Jade to be among the most loyal of all Panam's district citizens.

About the information of this girl owning a bow, Jade figures that for now, he won't tell anyone for many reasons. One, the peacekeepers probably already know about the girl hiding a bow and two, that kind of information could always be used as knowladge for blackmail if it was ever nessary. Besides, this poor girl is in enough pain as it is with her recent score of wippings, no sense adding more worries to her mother.

Brenna:

The pain is so great from my back I can barely stand it. Mom is doing all she can but there is only so much one person can handle so much. Ria comes bursting through the door with the local healer, she and I have become great friends these past few years. I can see from her face that its pretty bad , hell I can feel how bad it is. Immediately she starts working on my back fist making sure that no infection will come to it, that of course the worst part of it all. I feel as if acid is being poured into the cuts of my back. “ Ahhhhhhh” I scream out in pain and bite my shirt for something to keep me awake. The pain is so great that I almost pass out but I am able to hold on a bit longer.

The next is to put salve on my back and bandage , all is still very painful but once they get the bandage all the way around me I stand up and walk over to Jade. ]” If you say anything about what you know to the Peacekeepers I will…” But right then The pain has finally gotten to me I feel very light headed and I fall into Jade being engulfed in darkness. My body feels weak and my back is burning and I feel something grab me but unsure of what it is i let the darkness swallow me whole.

OOC: Looks nice!! Sorry this took so long, I had company over yesterday.

Jade is amazed by the girl's bravery as the local apothecary does her best to heal the damage done to her back. This girl was lucky at least in one regard because had she been of age, they would have beaten her to death in front of the whole town. Jade knows that their compassion for law breakers can only go so far.

A relatively short time after the apothecary finishes patching up Bree, she is struggling to get up. Jade stand from the chair he was sitting in and nearly makes her lay back down but when no one else does he decides this is normal behavior for her. Bree is staggering toward Jade mumbling something clearly meant for Jade to know when she just falls into his arms completely unconscious from the pain.

Jade catches her under her arms being careful not to touch her back because of all the open sores. He looks up at Bree's mother and just sighs. "Don't worry 'mam, if you just show me where her room is I'll take her in there and lay her down on the bed." To Jade's satisfaction, she only nods and leads him into another room with a bed. Jade slowly lays her down on her stomach and brushes Bree's hair behind her ear. She is such a pretty girl. If she just understood that the Capitol wasn't out to hurt her but protect her. Jade lets out a small sigh, gives a small smile and shakes his head slightly before standing up and leaving Bree to rest.

In the other room Jade informs her mother that Bree is sleeping soundly but when she wakes up, she will be in a lot of pain and that she needs to get a little stronger medicine from the apothecary's store in town before tomorrow morning. And when Jade hears that she doesn't have the money, Jade reaches into his pocket and drops five coins on the table. "I know it's not much, but it'll pay for her medicine."

After that, Jade leaves and heads down the street. He was planning to go home to his uncle's house in the victor's village but now he kinda wants to go by the town square. But after finding nothing there of interest, Jade goes back home and settles in for the night. His uncle is oblivious to Jade as always, he's working on something in one of the upstairs rooms but Jade has no clue what. His Uncle doesn't ever tell Jade what it is and Jade doesn't ask.

wakeing up in my room i look around and see the healer bringing in soem medication.. medication i would never have the money to pay for I start resisting but she basicly shoves it down my throat. i'm hurting but the pain meds are helping amazingly Looking up I see mother is there worried telling her that all will be fine she tells me about jade and how he helped me and our family. damn i am going to have to repay the favor, i hate having debts that need repaid . Getting up I exit the house and go oer to Jades. The walk there i s painful but i will not submit to pain its a state of mind. Kent is terrorizing soemone so i quickly try to get past him. but it doesnt work. [color/] Bren it looks like your doing better[color/] he slaps my back i almost collapse from the pain or not well you still have the rest of the week till our date Bren and ... you Will be there wheather i have to dress and drag you out of your shack myself [color/] glareing at him i keep walking i cant belive this man. he laughs and walks the other way. I keep walking to the center of town where i hear Jade lives when i ask though i didnt expect to have to go to victor village. Making my way there i have alot of stares thrown my way.

Getting to the house i stop and just look at it. it must be nice having everything yo want. mooney food, place to stay everything shaking my head i walk up and knock on the door and wait .. a older man answers and looks at me as if i dont belong. No crap i dont belong but i am respectful and i ask if Jade is there he answeres with a yes and invites me inside. the house is one word amazing. everything everyonen wishes they have but cant have because of the the captiol i shake my anger and wait for Jade to come down. i sit down careful not to tle tmy back touch anything but i wonder what the heck he could be doing up stairs.[color/]

Jade Starr

Jade woke the next morning and started his daily routine of exercises. Push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, and just a few other things when His uncle, Alex, comes through the door. "Didn't I tell you not to invite your friends over?" Alex yells at Jade. "I told you never to have any friends over you understand that boy? It's bad enough I have to take care of you!" Alex then backhands Jade to the ground and walks out. "Now go tell that whelp to leave here, before I really do something to her." By the time Jade stands back up Alex is down the hallway, probably headed to his secret room. Jade just lowers his head and sighs "Yes sir."

He walks downstairs to see Brenna, standing there waiting for him in the kitchen with he back toward him. "You wanted to see me?" Jade says. All to late he remember the hit he just took from his uncle, and he hopes with all he's got that there isn't a bruise or anything to show that he was hit.

the uncle walks down the stairs and he looks pissed. Maybe i shouldn't have came but right behind him is Jade You wanted to see me? I take a look at him he doesnt have a shirt on and he is all sweaty i must have intureupted something .I stand up,slowly because of my back and i wince a bit.[/color] ya, uh... i gotta thank you for helping my family.. not only for the medicine but also for everything else...so uh ..thank you.. I'm not sure what else to say i look Jade over again and gotta admit the guy had it going for him. I walk to the door and open it.. i feel like i am in your debt..and dont spill the whole you owe me nothing crap... meet me at my house at 6 i want to show you something. I walk through the door and start making my way home i dont know if he is following or not but if he is..gota admit i wouldnt care.. I dont know why i wouldnt care but oh well. I make it to town square and look behind me to see if he is behind me. Instead i see Kent. I sigh and try to make my get away but im not fast enough . Kent catches up and puts my arm around his like he is escorting me some where. I ignore him and keep walking towards home but he is pulling me a different way.your coming with me today brenna and you dont have the strenght to fight me witch exactly why we are going to my house. panicing i pull harder towards my house but its no use.. we make it to his door and in side the house i run from him as fast as i an to the back door its locked crap i turn around and look at him.

He watches Brenna as she leaves the house. "JADE!!" His uncle calls out "Jade! That girl better be gone and you better get all your chores done! If you don't I'll. . ." The voice suddenly trails off followed by another swig from a bottle.

Jade knows that his uncle has a problem but he doesn't even care. He's been that way for as long as Jade's known him and that's probably never gonna change. Jade starts to work on some of the dishes when He looks out the window and watches Brenna as she walks down the street. She's almost out of eyesight when suddenly a peacekeeper comes up from behind and grabs her arm. Jade would normally think nothing of it but when he remembers that this was the same peacekeeper who was clearly enjoying himself when the girl was being whipped, Jade begins to worry.

What could Kurt be up to with Bre? Jade wonders. But it doesn't take long before he puts the fact that Kurt is always getting in trouble with the head peacekeeper for his...relations with a few girls. Jade knows his uncle will be ticked at him for leaving before finishing his chores, but for once, he doesn't care. Jade puts on a clean shirt and starts jogging toward Kurt's house.

When he arrives, he notices that the front door is shut and all the windows are closed. Now I just have to find an excuse to be here. Jade smiles as one presents itself. Knocking loudly on the front door Jade and after hearing muffled cry, a curse and a little rustling, the door opens.

"What the H*** do you want?!" Kurt snarls and then recognition hits his face and he straightens up a little. "Well Jade, what are you doing here? I'm a bit busy right now." Kurt says a little more gently but not too much.

"Well, I was supposed to have a meeting with Lex but he canceled on me yesterday. He told me that you were off this morning and would be more than willing to help me." Jade smiles a little to try and throw the peacekeeper off.He knows that Kurt is quite a suck-up and most likely, will not turn Jade away because Lex is his direct superrior.

Well, alright. Give me a moment. Kurt shuts the door for a short while and then opens it for Jade. He probably went to hide Bre somewhere. I bet she's tied up too.
