Keela Kara Lightwood
Keela walked into her house wordlessly as she left the boy standing outside waiting for an invitation inside. She knew that would never come. The girl had issues with trusting people. Well, people in general. If her siblings didn't see through the clichés, she would say she's working on her issues. She was the girl who didn't let people get too close but close enough that she fulfilled the need to belong somewhere. It wasn't a sexual thing, though sex was often involved, she just wanted to be in the presence of someone who would show her affection and it meant nothing. She liked living without repercussions. It was nice.
It was early morning when she arrived home from the party. The clock read 7 AM. She rushed up to her bedroom to change out of the clothes she wore when she sneaked out of the house the night before to meet her companion. Riley would be up soon. She didn't want to hear another lecture from the boy who called himself both Mom and Dad. She loved her brother, honestly, but he tried too hard to be the parent and he didn't allow himself to be a child. Sure, Keela knew why. It was for the same exact reasons she only spoke to her siblings. Keela knew very well how Riley felt. She never spoke about it to anyone except Riley and Avon, her siblings turned murderers.
Riley had helped Keela protect their siblings by killing the man who abused their family for years while their mother did nothing. Keela was the mastermind, Riley the executioner, and Avon the brawn. Keela probably could have come up with a better plan than the tracker jackers they had used, but the one they used was ironic. It was the same way several years earlier that their stepfather killed their father out of jealousy. Keela was the one Xavier told about the plan and that later proved to be a fatal mistake.
Her bedroom was the color of a lit jack-o-lantern's eyes. A bright yellowish orange paint covered every inch of the walls. Orange was one of her favorite colors. Her other was aqua blue which was splashed occasionally across her bedroom. Her bedroom carpet was in a blue, orange, and red polka-dot pattern. Her bed was large, high off the floor, and her comforter a nice white fluffy thing that didn't exactly match the coloring of her room. Riley had picked it out for her. She sat on the bed as she tore her deathly uncomfortable knee high boots off of her legs. She didn't wear them to dance; she wore them to seem normal. Her jeans were skintight and dark like Antoinette's eye shadow. She dressed sexy for a reason. It was a way of getting noticed when she wanted to get noticed. Other times, she wouldn't want to leave her room at all because of the anxiety that plagued her often.
She changed quickly into something Riley would prefer; a pink T-shirt and sweat pants. God, she wished Riley would just allow her to wear what she wanted whenever. But, everyone knew Riley was boss around the Lightwood home, however gullible he may be. Riley always required a push if she wished him to budge. He still wasn't awake when she got downstairs. Her black grand piano lay in the living room, tempting her to play. Her siblings always made a spectacle about that too. None of her siblings could sleep while Keela played. Her playing was loud and always at impressive tempo. La Campanella was their wake-up call and she felt proud that she had managed to beat Riley awake this late. She at least hoped he had no idea she was out.
