Personality:
Annalaya stands out when it comes to her appearence. She is tan, as most people in District 4 are. The muscles in her legs are noticeable, like many others, from years and years of swimming. The one thing that makes you capable of pulling her out of a huge crowd is her hair. Her natural bleach blonde hair that isn't very common in her district. It reaches to about 4 inches below her shoulders and seems that the longer she spends in the sun the blonder it gets. Another thing that dosen't go unnoticed are her eyes. They are a brilliant blue. Her father tells her that they are the color of the ocean on a clear day. She always smiles when he says this, she likes being different.
Laya's overall stature is pretty much normal. She is a bit taller, about 5"6(5"5 and 3/4 to be exact xD) and weighs 143lb. This may seem heavy for her age and height but about 15lbs of it is muscle. Between the swimming and throwing spears for fishing the muscles in her arms and legs have developed quite well. Her legs are quite long. It gives a supermodel appearence to her, though she's no where near tall enough to be one. Her long legs are helpful though. Besides swimminm and training, her other favorite pass time is running. Annalaya loves to feal the wind through her hair and on her face. Her legs do make her one of the fastest Careers in the district. Even though Annalaya isn't gorgeous she is pretty. With her angular jaw line and big blue eyes she is something of a looker. Though, her nose is slightly out of proportion with the rest of her face. It's a little bit bigger then it probably should be but most tend to ignore it. Her lips are slightly off balanced as well, with her bottom lip being slightly larger then her top. Laya dosen't mind though, she finds these are the things that make her unique. And who really wants to be a replica of everyone else?
Annalaya is a very bubbly person. Most people tend to enjoy being around her because she is an honestly kind and decent person. She always seems to give people a chance no matter what their reputation. Even though people may enjoy her company, she dosen't have many friends. Maybe it's because she is so willing to accept others or she just scares them away with her optimism. She never seems to be able to find a negative side to things, no matter how bad it may look. People try to put her down a lot, but she ends up coming up with a positive spin on their comments. That's when most of them walk away.History:
A lot of people refer to Annalaya as a dumb blonde. She seems to always be the last one to get a joke or be slow on understanding something. Even though her parents tell everyone this and she just agrees, this isn't the truth. Laya is schizophrenic and her parents are so deeply embarassed by this that the only ones who know are them and Laya's brother Caleb. It is a very mild case, so her parents were never concerened with taking her to a hospital. She does hear voices though. Most of the time Iris, Storm, and Echo( Yes there's three of them and yes they have names : D) are very helpful. They help Annalaya make many of her choices and if she's having a tough time with something give her words of encourgament. The only time they ever really say bad things are when someone who may have harmed her or may be harmful is near by. Then they become very opiniated.
Since Laya enjoys being different, her opinions always seem to change. You can ask her what her favorite color is in the morning and then by noon it will change. It generally reflects what kind of she's in. Though she has one opinion that will never change. And that is her weapon of choice in trainging, her spear. She feels like it is a crucial part to her survival. In the games or out, she dosen't know what she would do without it. Another thing that seems to bother people is that she never gives up. Ever. It could be because she always sees a positive side for things or The Voices in her head whisphering encouragement.
Ever since Annalaya was little her parents knew she was different. At first they believed she was talking about her imaginary friends when she spoke of The Voices. But, when she didn't outgrow them they knew it was something a whole lot worse. The only reason her parents had an idea of what was wrong was because her mother's sister had the same problem. But it was at a much worse degree, it was to the point where she had to be taken to a mental hospital. Her parents barely spoke to her again after they figured it out.Codeword: odair
So the only family she had growing up was Caleb. And he adored her. She was his Lay-lay and would do anything in the world to protect her. In school. Annalaya didn't have many friends. Maybe they could sense that there was something different about her or maybe it was her always positive attitude. Who really knows? She didn't mind much though. Her favorite thing to do when she was smaller was watch the Hunger Games. She was always so fascinated by them. She was impressed how well some of them could wield a weapon and how others could seem to survive the harshest conditions. Her parents thought she was sick. They hated the Games with a passion.
When Laya was about 9 she had finally been able to convince her brother to teach her how to fish with a spear. So everyday when they got home from school he would take her out on his boat and teach her how to properly use a spear. She became better and better each time. In about 3 months she was almost as good as he was. This worried Caleb a little though he decided to not think to much of it.
One day, when she was almost 10, the TV was on and Annalaya was watching a recap of one of the Games. She had heard some of the other kids talking about training. At first she had no idea what they were talking about, then a few days later she had finally had gotten the courage to ask Caleb what they meant. He had explained the whole Career process to her. She was so fascinated and wanted to find out more. Though, never being a Career himself, Caleb couldn't give her the details. As she watched those recaps it hit her. She wanted to train to be a Career.
She had literally gotten on her knees and begged her parents to allow her. Though they would not. No matter how much they may have resented they didn't want their only daughter to die. After about two weeks of begging and no budging, Annalaya had given up. But a day of sitting and thinking she had come up with a plan. She would train to become a Career behind her parents backs. With the agreement of The Voices, well agreement of Storm and Echo and much disagreement from Iris, she decided to go through with it. Starting a little later then most of the tributes her age, she was at the bottom. But, after a lot of hard work and dedication, she became someone to look out for. The Voices always seemed less present when she was training. Only offering words of encouragement, but even then they were a soft whispher. She liked the feeling of leaving them behind every day for a few hours. It was peaceful.
At one point and time someone had gone and told Caleb about Laya's training. He confronted her about and she told the truth. There was no way she could lie to him after he had done so much for her. Annalaya gave him her reasoning and explained how the voices were barely there when she trained. He didn't approve, but did not stop her from training or tell their parents. Thoug, she happened to notice that he didn't call her Lay-lay after they had that talk. It upset her a little, but not enough to stop her from doing what she loves. Now, Annalaya feels so much more confident about her skills. She plans on going into the games and coming out alive.
