Personality:
Mellor is physically big. Large, broad shoulders and defined arms give him the physique of an athlete. Not Career-worthy, but certainly fitter than average. His pale white skin still shows signs of hunger and hopelessness.
He has dark, cropped hair that parts to the left almost giving him a mysterious aura. His eyes a dark hazel, hiding many a secret. He rarely smiles, but when he does, it's a half-smile on one side of his face.
Standing at 6'2, Mellor has large baggy clothes that have been handed down, but fit him well. The clothes consist of a plain white t-shirt, usually covered over by a winter jacket of some description. Work slacks are always worn to the lab, and casual denims at home. Black boots or work shoes accompany the rest of his attire. He can also be found to carry a rucksack, brown in color, with his valuables inside.
Mellor may appear a menacing and cold figure, and he likes to keep it that way. He sees openness and emotions as weakness, and doesn't want anyone taking advantage of how he feels. This isn't to say that Mellor doesn't have feeling. He has very strong feelings, he just chooses not to convey them to other people. This gives him a dark, unsociable persona.History:
He cares very much for his Grandmother, who has looked after him for most of his life. On the brink of death, his Grandmother is the one person he feels he can open up to and be himself around. He never feels weak or exposed around her. He doesn't need to be the tough guy. He enjoys her company very much, and often fears life after her.
Mellor has strong views towards Avox's, as his workplace is full of them. He hates what the Capitol has done to them, and often takes long vows of silences in personal protest. These silences can last weeks at a time, and mean a lot to Mellor. His views are very strong, and whilst they may not make a difference, he feels it is necessary.
He enjoys cooking for his Grandmother and tending to her garden for her. He also enjoys jogging and general exercise to keep in shape. He has a strong hate for the Capitol and their methods, and will not talk to Peacekeepers.
Mellor Carruthers was born the only child of two proud, hardworking parents. They decided that his career was to be that of a Doctor, as it was the most well-paid job in any District. Competitive, yes. But his parents knew that in studying to be a doctor, other pathways would open to him.Codeword: Odair
Mellor's parents suffered a terrible illness when he was but a few years old. A plague that had spread from Lab Rats. They had their child sent to live with his grandmother for his safety, to prevent it spreading to him. She raised him after they passed, and he developed a strong bond with her at this young age.
Mellor schooled as a Doctor, but lacked the intelligence, and was squeamish. He dropped out after a year and studied Mechanics. He obtained a job as a railway worker, often having to board Capitol trains to fix parts of the train, or tracks further inland.
It was after a year that he met an Avox boy, of only five years old. He pitied the Avox, but knew he had committed a crime, so it was justice. But it wasn't justice. It never was with the Capitol. The boy had sneaked a Capitol snack under his shirt, and offered half to Mellor. Having never seen such devise food, Mellor could not refuse.
They were caught by a Peacekeeper, who accused Mellor of stealing and assisting an Avox. The Peacekeeper beat the Avox and put Mellor under custody, telling him that he may well share the fate of the traitor. Mellor knew this was ridiculous, and the Peacekeeper was merely boasting his authority. The teenager told the Peacekeeper to go ahead and process him for Avoxination. At the next station, he was thrown off the train.
Mellor hated the Capitol from then on. The innocent look in the boys eyes and the beating he received were enough for Mellor to develop a loathing, and passionate views.
