After a long day of stomach cramps and just pure tiredness. With a touch of embarrassment, I was eager to get home. I didn't expect it, but he was walking home too. I rushed out the door to him, luckily Aspen was close by. I acted as though I was running towards her, but the dirty truth is I was running to him. His hair glistened in the sunlight. I noticed the rip on his bag strap. I giggled like a girl with Aspen. He was stunning. He was tall and rather pale. He was wearing a plain gray tee shirt, his collar was damp with sweat. Earlier we exchanged glances. He would notice I was looking at him, he'd look at me, then turn away quickly as if he didn't want me to see. He had an strange gait which I imitate often. Donte and Micheal were next to him, I hardly noticed them. We stayed right on his tail, I almost stepped on his foot once or twice. He walked down the hill, and when Aspen and I turned down a street, he crossed the rode to the post office. I lost sight of him and stopped faking small talk with Aspen.
We walked down the street and decided to go up the hill. It's a short cut to our houses. I love walking with Aspen, her smooth words calm me after the stress of the day. Her hair glistens as well. The natural highlights in her blonde hair really stand out in the hot sun. We walk at a quick pace. I tell her I have things to do at home, and she responds in a kind of sad voice. Over the years, we have become extremely close friends, but there are some things I restrain to tell Aspen. Her perfume smells like Spring flowers and it blossoms in the heat. We part our ways at her house, and I head home. My house is only three houses away, but it seems like forever.
I walk into the house and see Dad in the Great Room. Brodie jumps off the couch and greets me with a tail wag. I should say a nub wag mixed with a butt shake, because that's what it looks like. I hug Dad and walk upstairs. I'm covered in sweat and I'm burning up. I walk into my room and strip completely naked. Brodie followed me up the stairs. I know he's just a dog, but I shoo him out of my room. My just stripping to cool off turned into a mildly cold shower. I don't even grab my robe, I just grab a towel and walk to the bathroom. I turn on the fan and let the cool water run over my hand. A little warmer, a little colder, warmer? Perfect. I pull the nozzle and activate the shower. The cool water runs over my body like a waterfall of peace and serenity. I didn't even know how good this would feel. I feel all the struggles of the day along with the layers of sweat wash away from my body. I begin to sing. My voice is low, I don't want anyone to hear me. Even though Dad is downstairs, I feel he sometimes hears me fantasizing or singing to myself. I ponder at the meanings of the words I know so well and rub my wet hair. I reach for the body wash and rub it into a sponge. It feels cool and has little red beads in it. I rub the sponge over my body. I love the feeling and sensation of rinsing the soap off my body. It feels cool and soft. I apply a light conditioner to rinse the sweat from the roots of my hair. Just standing there was getting boring. I turned off the water and pulled the curtain aside. I try to get all the loose water off my hair and reach for the towel. I dry myself
and tighten the towel around my loose hair.
I walk out of the bathroom and into my bedroom slowly. I once had a dream he was there when I got out of the shower, but I never worried about him seeing me naked because I almost always wear a robe. Today, I was stark naked besides the towel on my head. I peeked around the corner and found my room empty. I let out a sigh of relief and continue getting clothes on and going on with the rest of my day. It's only 4:05, I have plenty of time before Mom and Abby get home.
