David Jay [District 5]

He has dark, jet black hair that reaches just below his ears. His long bangs often cover his eyes, unless he shakes it out of the way. His eyes are a silvery-gray color, that always have an icy glint to them and almost have a snake-like quality. He almost never smiles, and prefers to keep his face indifferent to anything. He also has a more pale in skin color, as he favors traveling through shadows or at night, and his eyes have dark shadows under them from lack of sleep from these travels.

David almost always wears a coat. Whether it be hot or cold, wind or rain, he almost never takes it off. He's never seen in shorts either, and prefers to wear jeans of colors varying of black to a lighter gray. Whether it's because of it's his being stubborn, he doesn't know. It's that same stubbornness that is why he doesn't wash his face often, resulting in a (sometimes) rather bad case of acne.

He's about 5'2 in height, which isn't very tall for his age, but he makes up for it by being incredibly quick. David is thin, and his ribs show clearly through his skin, but he isn't weak. He isn't really strong either, though, which often means he is a target for others.

David is painfully shy. He won't speak in front of anyone unless he has no choice at all; even his parents. When he was young, he wouldn't speak for anyone, so he was thought mute. When he does go outside his house, he tries to keep out of sight so that he isn't drawn into any conversations. Because of this shyness, he doesn't have any friends. It doesn't faze him however, because he likes being alone just fine.

He is also very observant, and tries to notice everything in his area. Although, sometimes he thinks he does almost too well, and this causes him to be overconfident in his abilities. Because of his over-confidence, he can miss things easily. When he does, he reminds himself to be better, but of course, over-confidence is hard to overcome.

The few times David does speak to others, he does so in a way that can only be labeled as a sort of quiet intelligence. Often times, this causes others to think that he can be rude. Of course, he's not trying to be, but most times no one tries. When people tell him this, he usually tries to correct it, but is not always successful.

With his shyness, David can be hurt very easily. The slip of a word or phrase can send him into a week of intense thought on how he can fix what he did. Even when people aren't meaning to hurt him, they can. When this happens, it is unlikely that he will talk to you for a while, and often will avoid you until he works the guilt out of his system.

He can also be very stubborn when it comes to certain things. For example, even if it was over one-hundred degrees outside, unless he had a really, really good reason, he won't take off his jacket. Likewise, he will never wear shorts. He wouldn't care if he lived in the desert, those clothes won't leave him for a more comfortable temperature or shorts. Ever. End of story.

David's story is not a depressing one. He was raised in a family of five, with one sister, Arianna. His mother usually stayed home with Arianna and him, while his father was at work. Although, his father does get paid, it occasionally isn't enough for them all to get food, so they divided what they could. But more often than not, they could get enough food for them to eat well enough, so those nights didn't matter much to them. They thought themselves lucky that they could eat at all most nights, because of some families that struggle in districts.

David's house was built as far from the smog as they could get. It was usually a hassle for him to get to school, and his father to work, but they enjoyed the clearer air. There was still smog, sure, but less so than if they lived further in the district. Because they live farther away from the main area of the district, David seldom has to deal with a lot of people, so he was happy with the location.

David's father worked in the factories often, and was away from the house for long periods of time. It never bothered David, though, for when his father was home, they didn't speak much anyways. His mother was often in her room, working with a thread and needle, painting- it varied. She didn't speak to him much either, and David was okay with that. His sister Arianna, however, loved to talk. It seemed to him that she could talk to him for hours, without him uttering a single word in the conversation. He was glad she didn't pry into his business, though, and let her talk.

When bad goes to worse in his house, he leaves. Most of the time, it's a night when his father isn't home. He doesn't go anywhere in particular in these night-time travels, he just walks. Even when things are going fine he often goes out at night. The lack of people and the silence help him clear his head of anything that might have went on that day.

As you can probably see, I'm relatively new to this.. So, if there is anything that needs extensive fixing, I'm sorry.
