Remedi - District 6

Like any other District 6 child, Remedi looks like an exact replica of her mother. Dark wavy brown hair, curled at the ends with little ringlets, run down her head, up to below her shoulders. Straight cut bangs cover her forehead, and two longer locks of hair frame her childlike face. However, her eyes are an innocent chocolate brown like her father’s, yet they seem to glow with some unknown evil intent that only those close to her know what it means. Her cheeks are usually a rosy red, either caused by the cold or by the continuous pinching of her cheeks by some Capitol residents that visit her district.

Her skin is pale; a mixture of her mother’s snow white skin and her father’s peach colored skin. A somewhat long scar runs down her left shoulder, running up to her elbow. Remedi acquired this wound from a mutt that ran loose in District 6. Her parents tried to heal and sew it up, but it just never healed, so she was allowed to wear long sleeved clothes to hide it, much to Remedi’s chagrin, as she hated long sleeves. However, she reluctantly accepted having to wear it, because she didn’t like the scar herself.

Remedi's legs are always filled with scratches, bruises and the like. This is because she seems to run into trouble every time she plays outside with either her only best friend or her brother. Both her knees have still-healing scars from one of her more dangerous games, setting off a more unappealing look to her, since she rarely wears long socks or long skirts. Her lips always seem to be dry and chapped, and she has the tendency to peel off the skin of her lips even though it hurts. Remedi is also pretty stick-thin compared to other children, even though she tries to look healthier.

Remedi, unlike her brother, Mewt, is pretty much the quietest child in District 6, which is ironic since her brother’s name was derived from the word mute. Her tiny lips are always pressed together into a thin line, only curling at the ends whenever she smiles or frowns. She is characteristically timid, and extremely shy when it comes to new people, especially boys her age. Usually, Remedi squeaks in fear whenever a boy approaches her, except for her brother, and will usually quiver if she can’t escape.

However, at some points, Remedi is truly the ruthless one of the two Malheur twins. She is capable of punching the lights out of someone whenever they tell her they’re going to put her in a dark room, because she is terrified of the dark. When this happens, she will usually scream in animalistic fury and pummel the poor victim with her fists, unless they’re unlucky enough to catch her while she is making poisons.

Sometimes, Remedi is remorseless. She sometimes feels no pity or doesn’t seem to care about her surroundings when she is left to do her own thing. However, sometimes she also really cares. Sometimes she excessively cares for something or someone, and will do anything to protect it. At times like this, she is extremely aggressive if that thing or person she cares about is hurt, and sometimes she is extremely timid, but either way she would try and have a 50-50 chance at protecting whatever it is she wants to protect, even if it’s really worthless.

Remedi is a hopeless romantic. Even though she runs away from boys, she is sometimes seen admiring couples and their romanticism from afar. The young Malheur girl is also a lover of nature, and will constantly look out her bedroom window and gaze at the grasslands beyond her home. She is terrified of everything that can kill and the darkness, yet she seems to have a fondness for anacondas and the like that she sees in her textbooks, and poisons. Remedi loves poisons too much, which is evident in the way she always brings along a notebook to list down possible poisons.

Even though she doesn't look like it, Remedi is pretty intelligent. Her whole family - Mewt included - is intelligent. She's got more brainpower than Mewt, but either way, they've got the maximum intelligence they inherited from both their parents, but split equally into both twins. Remedi got her mother's excellence in medicinal studies regarding the insides and the outsides, while Mewt received their father's excellence in sciences regarding the world around them. Mewt rarely uses his talents - unless to get good grades - but Remedi shows this off whenever she can. This is one of the only things she is proud of, and she never denied herself showing off her talents either to those who bothered to notice, to her only friend, and to Mewt.

Remedi Grace Malheur was born to Shaira Malheur and Ryan Christian Malheur alongside her twin brother, Mewt Randell Malheur, one winter’s day. At birth, however, Remedi was definitely the noisier one, while Mewt was, well, mute. He barely managed a simple wail, while Remedi bawled her eyes out as their parents tried to calm her down. She was named Remedi, in tradition of naming one of their children after something from their district, while her brother was named Mewt because, well, he was mute.

At the age of seven, Remedi started to quiet down and hide in the shadows a bit, while Mewt started growing rowdier, hanging out with the tough-girl class president Ritz Radiuju and her gentler and more timid vice president, Marche Aquanos. By the time she turned nine, Remedi was practically a shadow lurking in the darkness, while Mewt was the most popular kid in their school. He sometimes let Remedi bask in his popularity (because he cared that Remedi only had one friend in the whole school), but Remedi usually hated this because no one paid attention to her even if she was the most popular kid’s twin sister. Nobody noticed her, at all. She was the plain and simple wallflower sister of Mewt, pretty but extremely quiet, nothing special at all.

Turning eleven was a turning point for Remedi and Mewt, because they were only one year away from being eligible to be Reaped. She never wanted to be Reaped, and neither did Mewt, because it meant possibly dying, without any of their family members around to care for them until their final moments. This agreement brought Remedi and Mewt closer as siblings, agreeing that if one of them was to be Reaped, the other would volunteer to be the other tribute for District 6. She wanted to be better known, known not as wallflower Remedi, but rather, as Remedi Malheur, one of the coolest kids ever. Remedi, in this case, started to learn how to protect herself by learning about poisonous plants.
