Marietta Toppari, District 4 (Fin I hope)

Despite being sixteen years of age, Marietta has the appearance of someone far younger. Her face is rounded and soft. Her lips are a full, shell pink and hardly ever curl up into a true smile. Above her shell pink lips is her small, button nose, outlined by her full cheeks. Her eyes are a deep blue, outlined by a fringe of thick dark lashes. They are, without a doubt, her most attractive feature. Her pale cream skin makes them pop. Her chocolate brown hair hangs in thick waves, nearly reaching her waist. It is usually pulled back with a blue headband or in a French braid to keep it out of her eyes as she works.
To also add to her child like appearance, Marietta has a lithe, small body. She is skinny and short, only standing at 5'2. Her arms and legs are muscled like that of a strong swimmer. Despite being very thin, she is not starved or bony.
Marietta, unfortunately, is marred by ugly scars. On her arm, stretching from her elbow to her wrist is a long white scar that twists with her skin. An unnatural indent forms when she bends her arm. On her back, scars, thick and thin meet in a crossroad making her back look more like shredded paper than actual skin. Marietta is lucky because it is so easy to hide underneath her shirts. She does, however, hold her head high when it's severity must be displayed.

Marietta is quiet and hard working. She keeps to herself and works to get her chores and various other jobs done. She is kind and does her best to help others and look after those who need and request the extra help. Marietta is not a proud girl and most certainly not a fool. She is clever and quick, and will do what she needs to do to get what she needs no matter what it is. If it means saving herself, she will do it. Marietta is self-centered in this aspect, but she does try to help others as long as it does not affect her in any negative aspects.
Everything but flirtatious, she is frightened by other boys advances, but too shy to speak up or escape their romantic intentions. This has often opened the door for many of the boys and girls to tease. This often inspires what can only be described as a sort of bipolar trait. She will be very kind, blushing, and sweet but can just as quickly turn around and be very cold and mean. This bipolar attitude has lost her friends, but she pushes it away and pretends it doesn't bother her.
Marietta is very charming and she knows it, but she is often too shy to invoke such a trait. However, she does relish the fact that she is a talented liar and will often lie to get what she wants. To those who do not know her well, she is innocent, sweet, childlike, but truly she is cool, calm, and calculating. Her self-centered attitude has gotten far. She takes cares of the others and helps the people of her district, as long as it does not affect her in any negative fashion. Her mind is on the mission and she fights only to win. Marietta refuses to let anyone see her fall.

In late April, Maarika and Paavo Toppari had their final child, another dark haired daughter to add to their already large family. They are poor fishermen and struggle to feed their daughters. Marrika and Paavo had five children total. Their oldest daughter, Vellamo, died in the Hunger Games when she was fifteen, dying in the beginning of the Games much to the despair of her District and family. Their next children, the twins, Tuula and Sirpa, made it through the Reaping without being chosen along with their other daughter Klaara. Tuula, Sirpa, Klaara, and Marietta grew up hearing consistently about their brave sister, Vellamo, named for a cold-heated goddess, who gave her life for their District. The four daughters strived to be all that they could be and more in order to impress their parents who mourned the loss of Vellamo. Tuula even considered volunteering as Tribute until her sisters were able to talk her out of it. The weight of the Games hangs so heavily on the Toppari family and nothing that Marietta does can help her escape it.
The four sisters learned to fish when they were all six and all four train in combat as the weakest career District. Marietta specifically has a mindset that there is a ruler and a killer and has trained harder than all her other sisters. This attitude that she has to keep her mind on a mission has won her no favors within her own family though the people of the District do not know about her hard training. Her parents, Maarika especially, believe that Marietta should only fish and that because Vellamo was chosen for the games that Marietta can not and will not be chosen leaving no reason what so ever to train in combat. Marietta has not stopped though, and will not stop, driving a firm wedge between herself and her mother.
Marietta is not close with her sisters, but has found that her hard headed sister, Tuula, is the most like her and the most willing to support her. Tuula has defended Marietta time and time again from her emotionally unstable mother and has even helped her train. Tuula and Sirpa were the ones who taught Marietta to fish and swim, not Maarika or Paavo who both have their own careers. Even when Marietta was severely injured by a fishing trap (this caused the scars on her arm and back), Tuula and Sirpa were the ones most concerned on getting her better not Maarika and Paavo who did not help other than to cry that they were going to lose another daughter.
Marietta, being the youngest at sixteen, still lives in her parents house along with her sister Klaara and goes to school when she is not training or fishing. She often sleeps at Tuula's house and finds excuses to visit her in order to escape her mother and practically non existent father who is more interested in his career than his youngest daughter.
