Personality:
Saber is your average massive male from District 1, standing tall at 6’2 and weighing it at about 220 lbs of muscle. His years of training have built his beefy frame up to the size of a tank. He has dark, dirty blonde hair, which he keeps very short. Spending so much time hot and sweaty in training, he makes sure his hair doesn’t add any extra heat. His hazel eyes vary from day to day as they range from looking light blue to an amber, brown color.
His face is chiseled and handsome. Saber has a strong jaw line, which is often accentuated with slight stubble. Whenever he laughs or smiles, his dimples are revealed which leave men and women alike weak in their knees. Though his face is handsome and his body is strong and built, Saber’s one detracting feature would be the amount of scars his body holds. Through training he has picked up some pretty gnarly marks, most of them from his rival, Charm.
Though many admire Saber’s large physique for it’s strength, the downside of his size would be in the awkward way he carries himself. Though he is powerful and brutal in the way he runs and fights, all the bulk makes Saber’s everyday movements awkward and clumsy. He is forever knocking things, walking into things and tripping over himself. Though usually a confident guy, this is one thing Saber is a little self conscious about.
When people first spot Saber, his size and career status makes it easy to assume he is your typical cocky brute. Well, those people would be correct, but there is still much more to him than first meets the eye. He is one of the strongest career potentials for the Games, and he knows it and acts like it. This doesn’t exactly make him popular among his peers, especially coupled with the constant praise he receives from his trainers.History:
Only adding to his reputation for being an asshole, Saber has a rude sense of humor that tends to prey upon the insecurities of those around him. He has a knack for finding just what makes people tick and using it to break them down from within. This is a tactic he often uses to shake up his opponents.
Though Saber’s overall demeanor is cocky, aloof and cruel, he acts this way to cover for his severe self-doubt and the feeling of emptiness that still lingers after the loss of his sister to the Games several years ago. Despite his outward confidence, Saber is actually fairly unstable, as many careers truly are deep down, and he doesn’t like anything or anyone that threatens to reveal that.
Saber lost his sister, Stellar, at the age of 10 to the Games. She was 14 at the time and a trained Career, but the odds still had not been in her favor. This was a crushing moment for the young Saber and played an instrumental role in molding his personality at this impressionable point in his life. Saber’s parents were ritzy, upper class citizens who had no time for their children. From a young age the two had been left home alone on a daily basis to fend for themselves. Stellar practically raised Saber, and she was his role model.Codeword: odair
The first time in his life Saber saw any form of pride in his parents eyes was the day Stellar had been recruited to join a training group led by former victors. Being only 6 at the time, this was imprinted into Saber’s brain: being in the Games would please his parents. Maybe if he was recruited too, his parents would look at him.
The morning his sister was reaped for the Games, his parents through a grand party in her honor. At said party, her trainers attended and offered Saber a chance to take her place in the group since whether Stellar survived or not, she would no longer need training. Finally, Mr. and Mrs. Malachite gave Saber the look he had so desperately been longing for; approval. The feeling didn’t last long, however. Stellar was killed in a fight at one of the “feasts”. The Malachite’s were not so much as sad over the loss of their daughter, but embarrassed at having to face their friends when their daughter would not be named victor. They began to put even more pressure on their son to train, constantly belittling his sister as a failure and ensuring him that he would be better off not returning from the arena if he met the same fate.
So train he did. Saber grew to be strong and powerful, defeating even much older careers during his training. He was quickly regarded as the best in the group, until the day Charm Lazuli stepped into his life.
Another Games had gone by and another career from his elite training group had been reaped; it was time for another replacement. Saber still remembers the day so vividly, the day that boy was brought in by the trainers. People flocked to him almost immediately, enthralled by his looks, his grace, the way he spoke… Saber hated every minute of it. He was top dog at this place and he was going to let this new comer know it.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite according to plan; suddenly someone was showing this big shot among careers up. It ate Saber up from the inside as he watched the favor turn to this boy who was so good at manipulating the world around him to his own liking. The worst of it was, it was so hard to hate the charming boy with beautiful eyes, so Saber had to hate him harder and treat him crueler than the rest; he would not let this boy beat him.
As word got around about the new recruit and the Malachite’s heard of their son’s new competition, they showed further disdain for their son. He better be the best or he was worthless to them. This only added to Saber’s hatred from himself and hatred for his rival. One day in particular when he was about 16, Saber’s mother had made a passing comment over how attractive Charm was. The very next day, Saber couldn’t control himself in their training activity. He always insulted Charm’s appearance and personality, but that day he was relentless. Though he too found the face so appealing, he had to ruin it. He had already knocked Charm out and the fight was over, but he grabbed a nearby knife and sliced across Charm’s face.
The trainers had ripped Saber off of Charm’s bleeding form so quickly, and Saber himself had barely realized what he had done. Saber was almost kicked out of the training group for that, and he knew he deserved it; the image of what he did the boy he was secretly so drawn to was engraved in his brain whenever he shut his eyes. Luckily, the trainers saw Saber as too valuable to their group and such a great potential tribute that they allowed him to stay. The gash he had been left on Charm had been pointless anyway, his parents had paid to have it removed. It may have just been Saber, but to him Charm was looking even better than ever, making his conflicting feelings even more unbearable as each day passed. He just wanted to be reaped for the Games, win, earn his parents’ pride and never have to look at that stupid blonde again.
