Age: 17
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 2
Appearance:
Ellie Limerick has a devious look about her. Her dark Brown eyes always look shifty and her thin lips and pointed nose make her look no less trustworthy. She has a prominent jawline, high cheekbones, and a sharp chin. Her fair skin is almost totally covered with freckles. Ellie’s auburn hair is long and neatly kept. She almost always has it in a braid without a strand of hair loose. She tries to keep her mouth shut when not talking, because she has a severe overbite and really crooked teeth. Ellie’s thin eyebrows are often arched in a curious manner as she takes intimate interest in her surroundings at all times. The clearest indicator of even the slightest bit of anger is to look at her slightly smaller than average ears. When they start to turn red, it is best to stay out of Ellie's way because she can have a fierce temper when agitated.Personality:
Ellie is pretty little. She stands at about 5’0” and weighs around 115 lbs. Her hands are small and smooth with perfectly manicured nails, but her feet are big and often clunky. Ellie's clothes, which are almost all blue or green, are always pressed and neat giving Ellie the tidy appearance of someone who really cares about how she looks. As the daughter of a former career tribute who never got into the arena, Ellie has always been pushed toward the Hunger Games by her somewhat overbearing but still good natured parents. Despite her distaste for the Games, she has been taught basic combat and survival skills and therefore looks physically fit if not at least slightly intimidating. Ellie stands up straight and goes everywhere with an air of superiority and purpose.
Ellie is a perfectionist through and through. She is very perceptive and apt to notice flaws or inconsistencies in the world around her and she will not hesitate to point them out. Therefore, Ellie often doesn’t get along with the type of people who take offence to her “constructive criticisms. Her talents in reading people and noticing things that are not right in various situations makes Ellie a valuable prospective friend to those who can put up with her judgmental nature, but Ellie expects ay aid that she gives to anyone to be justly reciprocated. Ellie has high standards of herself and of others and has been known to act unkindly to those who don’t act as they should, such as liars, cheaters, and thieves. Ellie is quick to help those who are being victimized by such people.History:
Ellie strives to maintain her purity of self. She is a strict vegetarian, she meditates often, and she runs daily to keep up her physical and mental superiority over the far less disciplined brutes of district two. Here lies the main reason why Ellie does not want to be a tribute despite her mother’s continued encouragement to volunteer. Ellie fears that if she is sent to the arena, she may have to skip her meditations to avoid being vulnerable, not have a chance to keep up with her appearance on camera, or worse yet be forced to contaminate her body by needing to eat flesh of other animals. Yuck! No, the Hunger games are not for her. She is perfectly happy to stay here in the comfy quarries of district two to show up the other students in school.
As an only child and a great reader of people’s intentions, Ellie is used to getting what she wants. She can normally say just the right thing to get others to bend over backwards to help her and she is kind of spoiled because of it. Ellie is responsible and nice enough to not take advantage of people too often. Still, it is always nice to know that she can when she needs help. But when nobody can live up to her expectations, the last thing she wants is to become reliant on others, so she tries to do her own bidding whenever possible.
The daughter of a former career tribute, Ellie has been encouraged by her mom to train and volunteer for the Games to bring The Limerick family the Panem wide honor that her mother deserved, but never got the chance to try for, victor. Since the age of seven, Ellie has trained off and on while bickering with her mom about going into the arena. Ellie is familiar with the other district two careers with whom she sometimes trains, but she looks down upon them for their lack of self-control and they tease her for her lack of killer instincts. Still, she can hold her own against them in hand to hand combat, and she is without a doubt the cleverest kid who trains with the careers.Codeword: <img src="http://i41.tinypic.com/16h2ibt.png">
Despite her distaste for the hunger games, the young Miss Limerick is still wildly competitive. Once she decides to do something, she will not only do it, but she will make sure that she is better than everyone else. She lost a footrace once when she was nine. Since then, she has pushed herself so hard that now; she is more than capable of leaving all the other kids in her dust. Ellie is yet to get anything lower than an A in school and makes sure to bring up the academic shortcomings of her classmates to make her perfection feel that much better. Maybe that is just the way she is, but quite possibly Ellie became such an obnoxious perfectionist because of her mother’s extreme standards of her. From a young age her mom made a point of criticizing her daughter’s flaws and making Ellie feel awful about herself. Ellie desperately wants to please her mom but wants to keep herself intact instead of conforming to Mrs. Limerick’s idea of the perfect daughter/tribute. This creates some tension between the two, but Ellie knows that her mom loves her and wants what is best for her, so she tolerates the training courses and convinces herself that she is perfect because she wants to be and not because that is what mother wants.
In District Two, Ellie Limerick is completely alone. Her peers resent her for her tendencies to draw attention to their faults. She hasn’t eaten lunch with another person since she reamed Sandra Gillis from math class to her for her poor posture and slight lisp so badly that Sandra left the class in tears. Her two sisters hate that despite their best efforts, they can't seem to outshine Ellie. Her parents are angry about her lack of enthusiasm for the Hunger Games. While having no friends isn’t fun, Ellie doesn’t seem to mind the fact that she is the social leper of District Two. She sees her lack of social attachments as a liberation of time that she can use to master more complex skills such as weaving or pole vaulting, two skills to which she credits her proficiency to not having to waste time interacting with others.
Ellie is perfectly aware of her physical shortcomings. Her mother makes sure of that. But she fails to understand why people seem to dislike her. After all, why would anybody not want to spend more time with someone who is obviously better than them in every way? They are totally screwing themselves over by passing up a great chance to learn something.
