His specialty was actually projectile weapons, but since the boy proved to be able to (sometimes) handle those well enough, Callidos wanted to see how good he was with a sword as well since he claimed it was his weapon of choice. The swords were lined up according to material and size. He chose a sword with a thinner blade that was roughly two and a fourth inches long. It was made of maple; he didn’t know what kind.
The blonde sauntered over to the mat where the boy was already waiting for him with his sword at the ready. Callidos sighed, not wanting to have to put a lot of energy into this fight. I should have thought of that before. He gripped the wooden sword tight in his right hand and lifted it into position. It was heavy, but not as heavy as a real one. It took a moment for him move his left foot back and correctly shift his weight to be ready to flee or attack.
“Okay,” Callidos began to declare the rules of the fight since he was the one who challenged the boy, “Here’s what is going to happen. We fight like normal, don’t go easy on one another. No death blows make full contact. Meaning if you are able to manage to get a death blow on me, we’ll pause and start from standard position again. The only way to win is if the opponent gives up.”
He nodded at the boy to make sure it was okay. “On my count: Three... Two... One...GO!” Callidos lunged forward.[dice=200+1000]
Shallow Cut on Neck - 4.0
Callidos managed to spin around behind the boy and land the sword on the side of his neck. There might be a bruise there later. That was probably the only chance he'd get at making a good attack on the kid if he was actually good with swords. "I don't think I ever got to introduce myself. Callidos Mason." He spoke softly, waiting for the boy to retaliate.
