A cool air surrounded the bustling streets of District One as a warmly-dressed Corran Devereaux tiptoed across the marble flats. Her long blonde hair hung at the sides of her face in straight wisps, the rest tucked up under the fluffy hood of her navy jacket. Her boots scraped against the ground as she walked past people in her eerie, silent way - watching, like she always did. Bustling shoppers came and went - carrying bags stuffed with groceries, clothes, toys, anything and everything that District One sold in it's vast economic system. Corran herself had some loose change on her, like she always did, but nothing had taken her fancy yet.

Hoping to find some nice jewellery to add to her collection (of course, nothing compared to her fathers works, as in her mind he was the best jewellery craftsman in all the District), her blue eyes peered around the various stores and stalls in the busy streets. Corran thought to herself that she may be the only person for miles that wasn't in a mad rush, and the thought made her lips curve into the smallest of smiles. Corran barely showed emotion at all - instead opting to find it on others in her quiet little way. Of course, she felt every emotion and more that others felt - but her shy veneer gave off the impression that she was rude and cold. It was rather the opposite of that, in fact, Corran just liked to reply in short, blunt sentences - often mere yes or no answers.

In her trawl through the cool streets, she rubbed her small, gloved hands together to generate some heat for her slender fingers. Grateful for the fact that today wasn't a Career training day, the fourteen year old soaked up her remaining freedom and hurried her pace so her feet skipped - almost dancing - in quickened steps past buildings and residents alike. Nothing here catching her eyes, she instead opted to head for the plaza, hoping to spot something pretty - or even better - someone new to study.

Pattering through the more open space of the plaza, Corran was thankful for the smaller crowds of people that were leaving. She felt a little less claustrophobic, breathing in the crisp, clean air with a satisfied huff. Eyes travelling towards the centre of the almost deserted plaza, the girl spotted a figure resting against the grand fountain. As her eyes squinted, she found the figure to be a boy - obviously a few years older than her, or at least looked it, as most teenagers in District One do - and he seemed to have no intention to leave with the rest of the crowds.

Intrigued, Corran took a few paces forward. Remembering the wise words of her father as they floated into her mind, she hesitated for a moment. Intending to walk closer to the fountain to study the boy's laid-back body language; she noted to herself to not be so blunt. People needed personal space - and having someone stare at them wasn't very comfortable. Coming up with a less unnerving option, she instead began to step on the tiles that aligned together and made up the paved walkways around the fountain, looking as if she was merely wandering around, slowly making her way across the fancy plaza. Her blue eyes darted out to the side as she walked, hands in her jacket pockets, watching the boy intently. He began to jog around the large space and eventually fished out a package, which contained a sword. Corran wondered where on earth he could have gotten it, as it seemed to have materialised from no where when she wasn't looking - but shrugged it off.

The boy began to swing the sword around - Corran instantly recognising the moves from Career Training. She smirked to herself, guessing his next moves correctly almost every time. She'd watched her brother and older teenagers do the same combat routines over and over again - and although she herself was too petite and lacked the strength to hold the weight of a full-fledged sword, wondered if she could outsmart himself somehow. Today was supposed to be her free day, and she certainly wasn't dressed anywhere near appropriate to the standard Training uniforms - but her curiosity got the better of her and stepped forward to approach the boy - making sure not to get in the way of him or anywhere near that sword. The last thing she needed was to surprise someone flinging a weapon about and end up with some nasty injuries - Corran imagining her mother forbidding her to ever step outside again with a roll of her eyes.
