With a thousand lies and a good disguise
Hit 'em right between the eyes, Hit 'em right between the eys
Hit 'em right between the eyes, Hit 'em right between the eys
Mind guiding her, nineteen year-old Peacekeeper, Emma Len, was exploring. Her Peacekeeping partner had advised her to stay in the shadows, to avoid interaction with other Capitolites as much as possible, (Because who knows what the bubbleheads would do when glimpsing her cruel beauty.) but he hadn't said she couldn't do a little sight-seeing before boarding the hover car. Plus, it was good a time as any to test out her new ultra-vision. Never before had she seen the city in such detail. The world seemed so crystal clear, opposed to the blurry haze she had had to glare through back when she was... average.
Party spires rose from perfectly manicured lawns, fluttering sparklers and radiant fireworks giving the image of lit candles on a green birthday cake. It struck the girl odd that she weren't drooling over the image of being pretty like they, drinking dainty glasses of champagne, laughing 'till her stomach hurt, and suffering from a monster hangover the next day, but doctoring it with another tall glass of Bloody Mary. Strangely, she felt... content. As if she would rather be standing on the roof of some shabby house, peering out at the glittering horizon, being so monstro- No. You aren't a monster, you're special. Nearly jumping from her skin, Emma's head swivels around, searching for the voice's source, finding no one. Strange enough... the sound seemed to have come from inside of her head. But that was bogus. She sure as hell wasn't hearing voices. She wasn't some loon. Emma, it's Doctor Furt. Your surgeon. A communication device was implanted so that you could communicate with your peers without all the complications of understanding modern technology. The girl felt a wave of unease roll through her. She wasn't sure she liked having a twenty four hour news feed from the others. Privacy was important to her. Wasn't it? No, Emma. You do like it. Right? "I do like it."
How are you liking your new eyes, Emma? Enjoying the view through your new eyes, hmm? Exasperation toward the doctor's almost inappropriate snooping and confusion from the procedure nearly had her dozing. More frustration was unwelcome, and that was all the doctor was bringing, carrying on a conversation they shouldn't have been having. "Doctor, is there a way to turn off the feed? For like, when I want to go to sleep?" He grunted. His breaths sounded so close, as if he were sitting right next to her. She didn't like this feeling of closeness, this feeling of having no secrets. Well, I guess that would be a good thing to know. You don't want people bugging you when you're trying to rest, I guess! Simply think the word "off," and the feed will shut down. But Emma, there's no reason to feel uncomfortable with this, It's perfectly nor- "Off." His voice was cut off abruptly, the silence that ensued like bliss. She closed her eyes and sighed, running back to the happy feelings she had felt before she had been so rudely interrupted.
Emma Len! The teen groaned, leaning back and closing her eyes. Emma, we're contacting you through the emergency line. It seems there's some sort of disruption near one of the party spires. The eastern one. Seems someone's had too much to drink, starting a scuffle with another bubblehead. Your flight's going to have to be postponed for the moment. Get down there and see if you can put a stop to it. Well that seemed a lot more interesting than sitting around watching the city liven up until she was to be towed off to District One. Pushing herself off the edge, she landed softly on the balls of her feet, breaking into a run in the direction of the east party spire.
ooc;; sorry it's so horrid xD trying to get used to her <3
