Personality:
Like her fairy-tale namesake, Rapunzel Thornton has extremely long golden hair. She usually takes very good care of it, but when she neglects it, it gets pretty wild. She has had surgery to make her eyes, which are large and innocent-looking, an impossibly bright purple. She is pale and has a very smooth, clear complexion. Being from the Capitol, she does not have very many physical imperfections that have not been surgically ramified. However, her mouth is a bit big and her nose is slightly crooked. She elects not to have these flaws removed because she thinks they are quirky and give her character.
Zell is very small in stature, standing at only five feet tall (with her hair fluffed up). Everything about her is tiny. She has little hands with thin fingers that usually have clay caked under the nails from her pottery hobby, minuscule feet, and an extremely petite figure. She is often mistakenly thought of as someone younger than she really is. Even though she is eighteen, she could easily pass for thirteen or fourteen without makeup or tighter clothes (both of which she always wears).
Zell usually tends to veer away from the wilder fashions of the Capitol, but has a passion for large, gaudy jewelry. She tends to wear jeans and a nice-looking but plain shirt accessorized to the max with every kind of bling imaginable. She also has a weakness for ball gowns and formal dresses, and she buys far more than she needs.
Zell always wears some type of sandal. Always. Even in the snow. She can't stand the confinement of close-toed shoes, and will often go barefooted whenever possible.
Rapunzel Thornton is a five-foot bundle of never-ceasing energy. She's so effervescent that it can grate on the nerves of some people She bounces when she walks, as if her feet are mounted on springs. Zell is completely caught up in the joy of living. She is a genuinely happy person, and has a very infectious laugh. Her voice is very high pitched and somewhat nasal (think of a less annoying Fran Drescher), and when she yells or gets angry, she tends to squeak rather comically. She tries to be kind to everyone, and is generally a likable person.History:
Rapunzel's major character flaw is that she's a complete ditz. While she isn't stupid at all, she has very little common sense, which can be a problem when wondering aimlessly about the less-than-friendly backstreets of the Capitol. She trusts people blindly, and truly believes that everyone has her best interests in mind. The thought does not occur to her that there are bad people in the world. She lives a charmed life, how could anything bad ever happen to her? She also tends to be a bit self-centered and vain, but who from the Capitol isn't?
Despite her amiable nature, Zell is quite a spitfire. She was very sheltered during her childhood, and she yearns for freedom more than anything. She has a lot of spunk, and very strong opinions and convictions that cannot be changed. She doesn't hesitate to break the rules, and sees life as one great big adventure.
Rapunzel was born to a political advisor father and a stylist mother. She has never been particularly close to her father because he isn't around much, but for most of her childhood, her mother was her world. Zell is her parents' only child, and their pride and joy. Because of this, she was very sheltered during her childhood as a result of her parents' fear that harm might befall her.Codeword: Odair
However, once Rapunzel started to grow up, she yearned to spread her wings and experience the world. Still her parents kept her closeted away, only leaving the house for school and a few other closely-monitored activities. She developed several skills during these years of home confinement. She is an exceptional piano player, a very skilled seamstress, and she creates beautiful pottery.
Once Zell began high school, she became determined to escape from her parents' smothering love. She surreptitiously found out from her father that there was a little-known law that stated that children only had to be under their parents' care until they graduated high school. After discovering this, Zell began to pile on extra coursework, and graduated two years early. As soon as she had her diploma in hand, she immediately emptied her (considerably large) life savings and purchased an apartment. Her parents were so angry at her rebellion, they cut her of financially, convinced that she'd come running back once she couldn't pay the rent.
With no way to earn money, Zell began to make and sell pottery at a local craft shop. She made enough money to live on, but just barely. When Rapunzel looked into the future, she saw herself as a stylist like her mother. She quickly applied for an apprenticeship with a well-known Hunger Games stylist, and she now makes a living sewing the clothes that her boss designs and occasionally designing a few outfits of her own). Her apprenticeship makes her more than enough money, and she is close to being able to open her own boutique. Once she achieves this dream, she knows she'll be set for life.
