Personality:
John is very rugged in appearance. Not often clean shaven, stubble lntsitters his chin and above his lip. His hair is shoulder-length and brown with a dull, natural shine to it and although it is rarely tangled, it is not from being taken care of. Despite his constant work, its always well kept.
His age has begin to show on his face as worry lines have formed around his mouth and his forehead. Though he is not 'wrinkly' by anyone's standards, he does always look tired and his age is catching up to him. His most prominent feature (besides his naturally luscious hair) is his rather large nose. Long but rounded at the tip, it sits square int he center of his face, symmetrical with both sides. His brown eyes are not too deeply set in his skull, although their warm brown colour can easily portray a wide variety of emotion.
His hands are worked and worn, calloused from fingertip to palm from his hard work. His skin is only slightly tanned from his time spent outside, although it is usually covered by a rough and worn pair of jeans coupled with a dull coloured t-shirt (and occasionally a long sleeve shirt under it for warmth). The boots he wears are the same working pair he's had since he can remember and the soles have begun to wear thin, despite their incredible make.
John is, first and foremost a working man and has been his entire life. When he was younger, during the reaping ages, he was neither afraid nor excited for his time. Fortunately, it seamed the odds had been in his favor and he was never chosen to compete (although his best friend of the time was reaped and died when he was 15). Even now, John is still indifferent about the games as a whole. Although he doesn't necessarily approve of the deaths of district members, he know saying anything about it is tyranny and pointless.History:
He has worked in the cotton fields since we was fourteen and although it isn't the most entertaining work in the wold, it is good work and it earns him and his family a living. He has even grown to enjoy the tedious and monotonous tasks as well as make friends with some of the others assigned to his field. He often enjoys having newer, younger boys come into the field that he can take under his wing and train.
Although he s a simple man at heart, his is also kind and gentle. He is not one to speak out or against anyone of authority and spends his personal time in his small house with his sister and niece. They are a small and often starving family but they make it work the best they can.
he was born to two simple parents who taught him the true value of hard work. They were an average family-his father worked in the cotton fields while his mother worked in the factory making mostly the flashy fabrics and clothing for capitol citizens and his 17-month-younger sister was a strait-A student with a bright future. John attended school and did average, not the top of his class but not the lowest either.Codeword: ODAIR
When he was fourteen, his father brought him into the cotton fields and it was easily obvious that John was a hard worker. Taking him in fully as a paying employee, life was good for awhile while there were four incomes into the house (his sister had begun to work with their mother at the factory). But as time wore on, so did their parents and soon, their father was forced to retire. He died when John was 21 of a simple heart attack. age can do that to you.
Distraught with grief, his mother continued to work at the factory until her last breath. She died when John was 28 and he and his sister have lived in the house since then.
When she was 40, Adriana (John's sister) fell in love. Although she did not marry the man, she did have a child with him-before he died of some unnamed desiese. Their three-month old daughter then began to look to her uncle for the fatherly support she would eventually crave.
It has been seven years since her birth and he has grown to love her very much like a father would. But Adriana has been out of work for a few months now as the younger and quicker girls enter the factory. Although he is aging and should soon be retiring, John has sworn to remain in the fields as long as he possibly can to continue to support his sister and her daughter.
