Age: 14
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 2
Appearance:
Tawn is a medium height for her age, standing at 5'6, but against all of the strong kids her age, she looks small and scrappy. Her limbs are as skinny as twigs and look like they could snap at any moment, but when she moves you have such confidence in her speed and grace. Although her district is quite well off compared to others, she is thin and pale. Tawn often looks like she hasn't been fed enough, but this is not the case. Dark brown, almost black, curly hair tumbles to about an inch below her shoulders. Tawn hates her hair, so it is usually tied up in two buns, one beside each ear. She has large green eyes, which with her hair make her startlingly attractive, but, more often than not they are misty and thoughtful. She has a pointed nose, which sometimes causes people to quote on her resemblance to a cat. All of this gives Tawn an overall mysterious look, like she is always in another world.Personality:
Tawn's thin hands have long, pointed fingers, which often makes people suspicious of her. She walks very slowly, almost on her tip-toes, but very gracefully. She has ghostly pale skin with just the slightest pink tint to it, which is a huge contrast to her dark hair. She does not resemble anyone living in her family, as they are all light-brunette with navy blue eyes. This often confuses people. Tawn's lips are naturally pale pink, without the use of any make-up. Her teeth are small and just the slightest bit yellow, and her ears are pointed, like a pixie, but none of this bothers her really. People often comment on her unusual appearance and treat her older than she is, which she likes.
Tawn usually keeps to herself, only speaking if she's spoken to. This makes most people's first impression of her quite negative. At first glance, she looks stuck up, like she's too good to be talking to anyone. But as you get to know her (or as close as she will let anyone), she is actually a very shy person. Tawn is extremely clever at school, to the pleasure of the teachers, but even they dislike her cold attitude. She will put her hand up and answer ever question correctly, but stays extremely quiet and does not even look at anyone otherwise. She always looks straight past them, out into the distance, like there is something on her mind. Tawn comes across as a thoughtful, intelligent and 'deep' person to her family. Even they don't take much notice of her. She often goes unremembered, and that's the way she likes it. The girls who try to befriend her back away soon enough, calling her 'ice cold and untrustworthy.'History:
Tawn's nickname is Fox, although many people haven't got a clue who gave her the name, as she has no friends. Still, everyone calls her it as if it is her real and only name. No one can tell whether she likes it or not. Her face is always emotionless, through praise, teasing and mourning. Even though it is said she makes no friends, she also makes no enemies. This can often backfire as no one really seems to like her, not even her own family. She does not try to make any conversation and everyone thinks she is boring. Tawn doesn't really seem to care.
It is a known fact that in District 2, it is a great honour to be tribute for the games. However, Tawn does not share this dream that many of her classmates have. She does not excel at the practice with a bow, knife or spear. She is not good with survival skills, but knows plants very well, and can run very fast. Tawn hates these practices for many reasons. Everyone thinks she is fierce and secretly wants to win, but she doesn't at all. She finds the games pointless and everyone who wants to fight stupid and self-obsessed.
Tawn grew up in a bleak, grey house in District 2. She lives with her father (Coloe), her mother (Moa), and her twin brother (Teever). They are not rich but can survive well on the money they have. Tawn is always well fed but you cannot tell this from her appearance. When she was little, Tawn and her twin brother spent most of their time playing in the dusty back garden behind their house. Teever would draw pictures of him winning the Games in the dust. Tawn would write sums. She finds it hard having to put up with her brother. He is completely different from her in most ways, strong and muscular. He would love to be a tribute and has volunteered each year he has been eligible, but was always beaten by someone else who volunteered first. Tawn finds this annoying. With the exception of her, all of her family love the annual Hunger Games and watch it eagerly each year, betting with each other on who will win. Tawn has to endure this each year and sits silently in the room, watching the screen with empty eyes. Teever boasts about how he will win it one day, and the family all fuss over him and tell him he's brilliant. They simply neglect Tawn because she isn't interested in bringing her family or her district glory, or even competing at all. Because of this, her childhood was long and difficult.Codeword: odair
She attends the one of the local schools like everyone else in the District, where the only thing she shines in is academics. The other pupils can't wait to train for the games whilst Tawn prefers to work. The teachers like her for this but are put off by her cold eyes and unfriendly nature, as they call it. She is often mocked at school for being 'weak' as she does not like killing and weapons. This is not the case as Tawn is a very strong person, but not in that way. She struggles through breaktimes and lunchtimes at school, hiding away from the tough kids in her class.
Up until three years ago, Tawn had another brother who was alive - Porter. If he hadn't died, he would have now been 19 years old. Porter was the only one of her family who looked like her, the same green eyes and nearly-black hair. When he was alive, they were always together, he was the only best friend Tawn has ever had. Porter gave her the nickname Fox and everyone called her it ever since. They would do everything together, even though he was five years older. He walked her to school, took her to the market, told her stories, trained with her (as much as she didn't like it). When Porter was alive, Tawn didn't hate the games as much. She obediently trained with him as he loved them and was obviously dreaming of becoming a Career Tribute and winning. Tawn even supported her brother slightly. With Porter, she was more outgoing, talked more often and laughed. Everyone at school liked her, but no one can remember what she was like then anymore. Her bad attitude has made everyone forget how friendly she was.
When Tawn was 11, she headed to the reaping. Only Porter was the right age as her and Teever were too young. They let Porter take his place and stood at the back to watch the reaping.
'Porter Foxglove.'
His name had been pulled out of the ball. He was chosen as tribute. He ran fowards eagerly, grinning. Tawn frowned, forgetting how much it meant to her brother.
'I'm going to win this thing!' he grinned, and let no one volunteer over him.
At the goodbyes, Tawn wept bitterly on his shoulder. Porter promised her he would win, come back, and everything would be back to normal, just them.
Porter was killed in the final battle, placing 2nd out of 24.
Tawn vowed never to have fun or trust anyone ever again.
