Dusk thanked Trench before she left. A devious plan was floating freely in her mind and she could barely contain herself. Doubts flew with her idea and she was afraid of what the outcome of this might be. But she had good intentions... So didn't that mean anything?
I sure hope so..
The crowd was perfect to hide her dirty face. A face that could get her thrown in jail. Dusk tried to be small, and barely noticable. It seemed to be working, and thankfully there seemed to be no peacekeepers anywhere. The road to her destination was clear, and full of perfect hiding places and cover. Best of all, the roads she took contained many alleyways. Most of these she took, evading any wandering peacekeepers on patrol, who were keeping District 12 "safe".
The first stop she needed to go to was the most difficult of the two; the liquor store. The moment Dusk entered the awful aroma of it met her nose. Imediatly she doubled back, shocked and disgusted by the horrible smell, and the memories. The smell put the sense of danger in her blood, and ardrinaline alerted her brain. But it wasn't the breath of her father. Her father was no where to be found. It was only the liquor store. Nothing to be afriad of.... The store wasn't very crowded, and she didn't have to be afriad of the storekeeper because she had never stolen from him; thats one thing her father could never get her to do. She hated the store, everything about the store. It was a horrible place that she now had to buy something from. Shaking slightly, she took a step more into the store. The few people that were in the store didn't even take a second to notice her, they were too busy checking out all the various bottles on the neat shelves. Dusk was about to become one of them now, no matter how much she wished to turn back, and release her nose from the stench, but there was no going back now.
Dusk picked up a bottle which seemed popular among the customers in the store, and she reckonized it as one of her father's favorites. It was a glass bottle that contained a clear liquor inside. It releaved her that the smell had started to not bother her as much. It was becoming less and less terrifying as she faced it. Dusk filled with a bright new confidence as she went up to the counter and set the bottle of liquor on top of it.
"Hi. I'd like to buy this liquor. Its for my dad."
Sadness consumed Dusk. Right as the sentense was finished she realized that she was trying to sound older. It was virtue though. It was important to her mission, and it would help Trench keep his part of the deal, which was much harder. So it kind of evend out...
Right?
Dusk hoped it would be alright. But she wasn't going to keep it a secret. She wanted to help Trench as much she could for all he had done for her. Imediatly after she got home she would tell him.
The storekeeper didn't give her a second glance. He oviously didn't care, plus it wasn't like there were real laws against children or teens drinking. Dusk took out some of her coins and paid the man, then left. It was a relief to relieve the grip of the stench on her throat, and the fresh air was very welcoming. She hurried to her next stop, dreading this one less. Still, she didn't like the next stop. Dusk entered the place where they sold medicen and herbs. The smell wasn't exactly appetizing but better than the last. It reminded her of her mother, because of the medicen she didn't steal. It made her sad, that the only two stores she had never stole from gave her this much sadness, and reminded her of even worse events that had occured in her short life. She quickly picked up the medicen she was looking for and went to go pay for it.
The medicen was special. It was for colds, and it tasted like a mix of dirty sweatsocks, mudy water, and frog warts. It was real cheap too, and perfect for what she was planning. As she walked back outside she did the unthinkable; well the unthinkable to anyone else in the world. She emptied out the bottle of liquor into the dirty sidewalk. Many people stared in disbelief; you'd have to be crazy to waste anything, especially liquor. But maybe she was crazy.
After the bottle of liquor was empty, and the people were done staring, Dusk opened the bottle of medicen, and poured it in. After she was done, she ran back home, and her excitement could not be contained. She opened the door, and gave one last shred of hope that this wouldn't turn out terribly.
"Trench! I'm back!"
Her grin softened, and Dusk hid the bottle behind her back as she looked for Trench.
