My raven hair fell in loose curls over my shoulders, just grazing the bench on which I sat on. I hadn't felt like wearing a shirt this morning, so I had layered my tank tops and put on a pair of old, worn jeans. My feet were bare, but I wasn't worried about them. I just wanted to get out of the house. Of course, I had sent Rayth to school first. But after he left, I brushed my teeth, fixed my hair, and ran out of the stuffy barn we call home. I was faithful to my hunting though, and brought my leather slides in case I decide to cross to the woods. Shooting a deer or two would last us a while, if preserved right.
My bow and sheath of arrows were waiting for me at the Hob, and since I would scare the wits out of Rayth if he found my weapons, I kept them there, right under the mat in the back laundry room. A slight grin came to my face, but quickly vanished. I let my head drop, cuasing the black curls to wave with my sudden motion. I stared down into my lap, waiting for nothing. My life had come to a halt, and I wanted something more out of it.
Apparently, nothing does. Just as I'm about to get up, slide on my shoes, and cross the fence, I'm struck the the blazing ripped of rays coming the the newly-uncovered sun. It glared on the snow that was thinly spread across the ground, and I smiled, actually smiled. I haden't smiled in a long time. I stood there, letting the sun warm my numb arms and allow my blood to flow with the refreshing light. At least animals would be out and about on such a day. I started walking towards the Meadow, arms pale with the cold. I hardly noticed in my eagerness to bring home tonights meal.
