Yuk! Avalon hated District 13. It was not what she had… expected? She loved the fresh air, and the smell of freshly mowed lawn, even the smell of rain was tempting her theses days. She had thought that if she was to move here she would be happy, she could start life again. That had been her dream, her hopes. But here she was. Living underground! Underground! Like she was an ant! Or a worm! Well that’s definitely how she felt. She felt like she was hibernating. But not coming out of it, like she was stuck in it forever. She felt trapped every day. Her feel of freedom escaping her, more and more each day. If only… if only she had thought her thoughts through before… before rushing into a rash decision. Right now she couldn’t tell if she was happier. Or if her life sucked even more.
Now walking down the deserted corridors, she felt the homesickness in a huge wave, a wave that almost blew her right over. Not that she missed her family or anything, she missed the freedom. She missed everything about being free. Having a life of your own choices. Making her own decisions. In District 13… you got none of that. You had a a set timetable you had to stick to. There was no freedom. There was nothing for you, but she couldn’t turn around and go back home. She wouldn’t be welcomed… she would most likely be punished and turned into an Avox…she would be accused of being a traitor. For siding with the enemy. Again she wouldn’t be free. She would never be free again.
The corridors were a plain grey. She sighed to herself quietly. Everything was bland and colourless in District 13.the food, clothing, beds… everything. What would she give for a dash of colour; she used to always wear bazar clothing back in the Capitol, full of colour and life. Now she was stuck with dull lifeless colours that hung off her body. It was ugly. But she wasn’t there anymore, she told herself strictly. Stop dwelling on the past! Focus on the present the future! She encouraged quietly to herself, as though these words were going to pull her through her miseries.
But she hated the present, she wanted her past. She wanted excitement in her life. She froze, a thought clicking into her head. Right then she knew what she needed. She needed something to numb the pain, she needed something that would take her mind of things, she needed alcohol. But where was she going to get such a liquid in District 13. Then the answer flew at her face first. Coby. He was the person to go to, and he wasn’t bad looking at the same time, maybe he could satisfy her for a while, but that thought instantly left her mind, he wasn’t her type, he was into bad boys, and Coby? Yeah he had alcohol… but that was about it.
She walked down the quiet, sickening hallway in search for the boy, he was about to make her day.
