He shrugged at the poaching girl's comment about scaring people with weapons, leaning back on the palms of his hands. "Mom always did say I was never the brightest, and it wouldn't be the first time I've been stabbed for scaring a woman," he said, yawning softly.[/size][/blockquote]
He gasped in mock-concern when she said what she had done to his brother, then rolled his eyes. She was witty, was she? Well, he could have a sense of humor, too. "Well, make sure you take a good long time to cook him. He's all stringy meat and bones."
Maverick smiled as he stood, brushing the clinging sand from the back of his shorts. He thought for a moment while stretching, about where the dock master's station was. Oh. Duh, by the docks. Starting off, he wondered just how well he would be received, arriving for medical supplies again. It was always he that went from the boat he worked on to the dock master, when they ran out of first aid supplies or just didn't have the right ones. As a result, it was usually he that did the first aid, and wasn't half bad at it, either.
"Follow me, if you'd be so kind."
Setting off towards the dock master's station, he decided he was enjoying this day quite a bit, actually. A picnic with his little brother, a beautiful sunset, three women to glorify himself in front of... maybe a nap on the beach wasn't such a bad idea. The only recognizable problem was that they were so young. Only one of them looked like she was in her late teens, the other two still looked pretty young. A bit young to be fawning over him, at least. It would bother him, too, if he hadn't seen it before.
Egocentric, much? Well... yeah. I am. It only makes sense that everyone loves me as much as I do. Besides, I'm a good guy. I help other people. It's only fair I like me.
