Thread:The Forest Sounds
I leaned against the large oak tree.
Was this the only place left for freedom? I guessed it was true. The Capitol had taken almost everything away. I mean, Haven't they? The anger inside me was building up immensly as I slammed my fist into the icy cold ground. The ice shattered around me.I bit my lip because, I had made noise. The thought of a peacekeeper watching me lingered in my mind. I got up and ran and ran and ran. It wasn't the only thing I knew to do but to be here was to murder someone. Something I was so familiar with these days when food was so scarce. I ran till I reached a small puddle that had not frozen. I scooped up what water was there into a bottle I had bought ages ago.
I suddenly remembered the hunger games were to end today. The thought made me want to vomit. All those innocent children murderered just because they got chose for the reaping. Some of them, maybe volunteering for someone they loved. It was all so confusing. Why? Why do we have to do something so grousome just because it "Gives a good show"? I shook my head, the pain increasing. Vomit started to crawl up my throat. I attempted to swallow it but it was no use. There it went, all over the forest floor. I knew then I would have to disquise it just in case someone found it.
About that time I got up, scavenging around for some dead leaves about the same color. I couldn't seem to find any with all this snow. I decided to leave it be, thinking that maybe the snow would fall and cover it up. I pushed it to the back of my mind and found a new tree to sit by and listen to the sounds of the forest in the night air. I looked at my skin, how could be so bright in the sun and so pale in the night? Eh, it didn't matter.
The thought of the hunger games wouldn't stop crawling it's way to the front of my mind. The blood, the gore. Oh! it was so much! How could someone endure such a thing? I bet it scarred the winner for life! For Life I say! I screamed it out "For Life!". Then I came to what I had done and ran even farther into the forest till I made it to the fence and heard a loud humming noise. The fence was electrified and I wouldn't be able to hop over till morning. Knowing this, I crawled into a tree and sat there, continuing to to listen to the forest sounds.
