Pain and Sacrifice (A lost non-tribute)

A small 12 year old girl huddled in a dark cave that echoed as she breathed. Her breaths were short and raspy. After 5 years of living on her own outside the District 12 lands she had become scrawny, short, and pale. Her mother and father were non-districts who lived alone. But they had each other. The girl's brother, Ash, had become lost a couple of years ago. All three had died. Her parents went looking for him and a few days later a huge hovercraft swooped them up, after hearing two gunshots. The girl guessed Ash was already dead.
The girl crept further into the cage and ate what was left of her pile of blueberries, then curled up and fell asleep, shivering.
