School. The very first word that flew into Quartz's mind that morning put her on edge as she woke from her slumber, slamming her hand over the ringing alarm clock by her bedside with a groan. School. It lingered over her as she dragged her limbs, and eventually the rest of her body, out from under her covers and rolled into the rest of her room, almost tripping over a pile of books with her sore foot.

Cursing, half-asleep, she wandered out of her room into the bathroom - splashing her face with freezing water to wake her up and running a hand through her tangled mop of blonde hair as she took a look in the mirror. Poking her tongue out at her reflection in a grimace, she hurried to shower and dress, not wanting to be late this morning. If it were not for the fond memories of the previous day that bubbled inside of her, then she would be in a foul mood for having to get up so early.

Exiting the bathroom a little more awake and no longer dragging herself around the house, Quartz rubbed her eyes awake with the backs of her hands and spied her Father - already up and dressed - dashing about the house. "Morning, love!" he greeted with a squeeze of her arm and a kiss on her head. Smiling, Quartz responded warmly. "Morning Daddy!" she called, checking the time and hurrying her pace down the hall to pack her bag as her Dad entered the kitchen.

Just as Quartz had dashed into her bedroom and began to throw books from the floor into her bag, getting ready to dash out of the house, when a sudden yell almost made her jump right out of her skin, throwing herself off guard. "Quartz Elle you get in this kitchen right now!" she heard her father yell, and gritted her teeth as her pulse attempted to return itself to a normal pace. Her Dad only ever yelled like that when he was angry and she'd done something wrong - but what? She hadn't even been in the kitchen this morning...

Shit.

Forcing herself to the kitchen with her bag slung on her shoulder, Quartz grimaced as she met her Dad in the doorway. A catastrophe awaited her from the previous night - flour and eggs all over the kitchen surfaces and floors. Not only that, but her father was fuming. Maybe if she tried a smile...

"Want to explain this" he began, illustrating his point by waving a hand around at the mess she'd made "to me, miss?" Gulping, Quartz's face perked as she smiled sweetly at her father as she skipped over to him, grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl behind him. "Blake was here, long story, gotta go to school, I'll clean it later - promise!" she sung in her charming little way, kissing her father on the cheek and taking a bite of the apple with a sly smirk before racing out of the house before he could object.

She knew that her father wouldn't object - or he'd have gotten over it by the time she came home. He always did, she could get away with almost anything with him. The only setback was that he knew her so well he could tell when she was lying. She would clean up the mess though - just not now. Quartz'd probably get her mother to do it instead, she always did what she asked. Now, on the way to school down the sandy pathway that lead form her home to the main roads, nerves bubbled up inside of her. Partly from seeing Blake today, and partly from worrying about what everyone else would think. What her friends, ex's, everyone thought. Because she did care a great lot what others thought, as bad as it sounded - and Ripred, she did not want to loose her reputation that she'd built up for so many years. Gnawing at her lip as she pattered quickly and quietly in her boots through District 4, Quartz sighed and gritted her teeth, wrapping her hands around her bag straps and summoned a surge of confidence through her.

She'd just have to hold her head high and take whatever was coming for her.

Beep...Beep...Beep...

What the hell was that sound, and why was it beeping like crazy? Why couldn't I just get a few more minutes to sleep? I was already warm here underneath the covers, exhausted from whatever had occurred yesterday. Was I really that tired? That I couldn't even remember what had happened yesterday? Geez Blake, gotta start getting a hold of yourself.

Beep...Beep...Beep...

Shit. My realization as to why my alarm clock was beeping finally getting into my drowsy god forsaken head. I quickly shift my body, spinning it around, smacking my fingers onto the 'Snooze' button on my alarm clock. I really really didn't want to go to school today. Wasn't exactly sure why, it just seemed like a dreadful idea. I threw the covers that lie on top of me off, sending them to the far end of the bed. I push myself back with my legs, sitting up against the backboard of my bed. What did happen yesterday? God, how I hated this whole thing that happened every morning. Just once, ONCE, I'd like to remember something that happened the previous day before starting my first class at school. Come on Blake, you can remember this.

Tiredly, I glance over at my alarm clock, the skin beneath my eyes stained a dark purple and black. Probably didn't get a good nights rest again. Ah well, it's cool. I'd just have to pretend to pay attention in class again, hoping they don't expect me to answer anything. Then, I'd just come home and relax. I shifted my seating arrangement as I shifted myself, my legs now hanging off the bed, bottoms of my feet flat on the floor. My eyes gaze quickly droops down, eying the plaid pajama pants and worn T-shirt that I'm wearing. Guess the first thing I'd have to do was change- Not like this is the first time I've ever done this before though... Maybe I'm just being really slow today. just needed some time to adjust to, well, whatever it was making me like this.

I quickly slip of my clothes, quickly replacing them with what I was going to wear for the day. I had a mediocre amount of clothes to choose from. Not just two or three shirts to wear, but not 25 different shirts to wear. Guess that made me unique? nah, I bet other guys around my age were just the same. For today, I was going to be wearing Straight legged jeans, and a Multi coloured striped long sleeved shirt over a plain white T-shirt. I grab my glasses and slip them on, the fact I can barely see without them or my contacts, of which I would put in soon enough.

I glance at my alarm clock once more as it reads: 7:24 AM. Plenty of time to do my things. I stared my rooms floor, glancing around to see if there were any loose folders or books that needed to be packed up in my book bag. Seemed like there were a few. I gripped the stray folders and books, sliding them into my already opened backpack. I quickly zip it, pick it up, and let it slide down my arm, into the doorway to my room. My door was open, as usually. It was just more comfortable for me to leave it open, but I was never exactly sure why. Guess it's just a habit I developed.

I carefully path my way over my book bag, making sure to not trip and look like a total idiot. Especially in my own house. I successfully make it over, (like I wouldn't?) making my way lazily to the bathroom. Still having absolutely no idea what I was trying to remember. Being an only child, the room was empty. I couldn't even imagine and utter chaos that goes through houses with siblings. The fights over rooms, times, everything. It'd just be way too chaotic. I'm glad I'm an only child- My parents though, they could be better. Way better.

I gaze into the mirror, taking note of my duel coloured eyes. God how much I hated them. I'd literally kill for a normal set of eyes. Even if there was a simple green or blue. Gah, so freaking annoying. And the scar under my right eye? Hell, how could I have been so stupid as to resulting in getting it? Sigh. The results in life always come back to stab you in the ass. Hopefully, that'd be true with me and my parents. I was there result, and boy, would I get my revenge for their shitty treatment. Haha, I'm just waiting for that day.

I slip off my glasses, as I had only put them on temporarily, as my noticeable bed head quickly gets blurred by my bad vision. I grabbed the contacts container, unscrewing the tops, placing on on my finger. It was already doused in the liquids to make them easier to apply, so I had nothing to worry about. I easily placed the first one in my eye as I blinked, letting the excess water exit my eye. I begin putting in the second one as it hits me. I had the best day with Quartz yesterday. How the hell could I forget? I poke myself in the eye, sending a cry of temporary agony throughout the household. Shit, shit shit. I quickly locate my contact before it vanished into the drain. Wow, what love could do these days. I slip in my second contact, blinking several times, my eye beating from the mini-injury. But, my heart was beating from the thoughts of spending more time with Quartz today. I picked up my toothbrush, squirted some toothpaste onto it, and began to rush. It lasted for a minute before I washed it out and spit, realizing what a mess my hair was. I grabbed the tin it was in, focusing on it. I slipped my finger in the gel container, pulling it back into my hair, as a cheeky smile plastered itself upon my face. This was going to be a helluva day. (1st pictures hair.)

I made my way out of the bathroom, back into the familiar environment of my room. Yep, it reeked of sexy teenage boy. I quickly slung my backpack over my right shoulder, making my way down the stairs. My parents were already bustling around, my mum and dad already dressed, preparing for the day. I tried to ignore them the best I could, but they wouldn't let me. All they did was throw questions all up in my face. God, how annoying it was.

"Where were you yesterday? No- Save that for later! Did you get your work done? Are you late for school already? Did you east breakfast? Barely without breath too. They would just keep asking and asking. It was irritating as hell.

"Yes, yes, yes and yes. I've done everything, Mom. Just chill, alright? Oh and," I begin, grabbing an apple from behind her, lying on the counter. ( same breakfast for the win.) Guess she'd already planned for me to get it. "I've got breakfast now. I'm gonna go to school now, 'kay? See you after school. I give her a quick hug, and a slight wave to my dad as I make my way out the door, taking a bite into the apple. A smile re-forms itself on my face. I was going to get to spend more time with Quartz. Score. But how would my friends react? I haven't exactly told them yet. They'd probably just call me a wuss and push me 'round a bit. Nothing I haven't dealt with before. Unless they took it another step. Then, we'd have a problem.

I take the path from the sandy, rocky road from my house, into the larger road of which the school lay on. I was a pretty straight forward walk, and took no more then 10 minutes tops. And soon enough, I was there. The school gates were in sight, and so were most of my school mates. My friends were no exception. I smile and wave at them, walking towards them. It was only fair I told them what I'm in now. I tell them about Quartz, as there eyes look confused. Guessed they are surprised. Before I let them react further I turn, and spot Quartz entering the school grounds.

"And speaking of Quartz," I begin, stopping mid sentence. I make my way towards her, my usual cheeky smile on my face. Boy was I glad to see her. I couldn't wait another minute longer

I apologize for the super long-ness of this post. I had uber muse, and I kept on rambling on and on into specific detail. Probably bored you to death. SORRY, REALLY.

I’m a phoenix in the water,

The amount of nerves that jumped around in Quartz's stomach was so vast that she felt she may be sick right in this very school yard. Eyes jumpy, nails digging into her skin as she dragged them across the bare skin of her arms to distract herself from the gurgling lava that was her apple of a breakfast, she scanned her eyes across the bustle of students. If the Earth would like to swallow her up whole right this very moment, then that would be just fine.

Perhaps she should have just stayed in bed. Lay there, staring into space. Avoid her fears, avoid confrontation. Externally, she was a master of making people look bad, daring to tell them how she felt. Internally, that was a different matter entirely. Why was it that she could so easily rip apart people, yet she could not even summon the courage to look vulnerable? Steering clear of anything that could possibly dent her image was second-nature to Quartz. Even with a shaky breath, the light puffs of air that danced in wisps dissolved into nothingness, and damn, how she wished she could do the same. Perhaps she should just leave right now. Go back home, to the safety of her bed, and lie there until the sun set again and she could hide for another night. Face her fears tomorrow.

If she hadn't waited just a few seconds longer, Quartz would have turned on her heel and marched straight out of the school gates, running back to her haven. But only when she caught Blake's eye - standing in a crowd of guys about his age whom she guessed were his friends - and then they were all staring back at her and Ripred, they're all looking at me. Oh, mother fu-

She needed to calm. down. Stopping in her tracks, she saw Blake smiling at her, ignoring the rest of the group's prying gazes and stupidly lifted her hand to wave. Wave?! You waved?! Oh, Ripred, Quartz, you are an idiot. Really. Suddenly feeling very vulnerable, she wrapped an arm around her side and bit her lip, fingernails now digging into her skin so deep that she wouldn't be surprised if they drew blood.

Perhaps he didn't want her fumbling in there awkwardly and interrupting his conversation. The last thing that Quartz wanted to do was to give off that sickly, clinging girlfriend vibe and wind her way into his friend groups, never leaving Blake any space to breathe. To be honest, she didn't really know how to act around him and his friends. Like she used to when she was around her friends? Or different? Would she take them by surprise that the supposed bitch could be anything but cold? Would they expect her to dump Blake a few weeks later like she had previously, and warn him to stay away from her? That was another thing, too. Letting herself be normal around Blake was one thing, but around everyone else, too? Could she really do that?

Or then again, could she really do that for Blake?

With every small disaster,
I’ll let the waters still.

As long as we’re together, does it matter where we go?

She looked scared. Nervous, even. But why? Beats me. I knew all I wanted was to see her again, since it had felt like eternity since we'd talked. I missed that already, no matter how sappy that actually sounds, it's true. I just wanted to hang out with her again, even if all I got our of her was a 'hey'. (though I am hoping for more then just that.) It's true, I would have to act a bit differently around my friends now, since I already showed Quartz who I was- And frankly, that's not who my friends know.

I swear, from behind my I could feel my friends eyes glancing repeatedly at Quartz, but I knew they wouldn't go go as far as trying to hit on her. Then, there would be a certain problem with my fist in their face. You know, typical stuff. I continued my way to Quartz, as her attempt to wave was quickly executed, covered up by a tense pose- Gripping her arms and biting her lip. Why was she so nervous? Was it me, or was today just not her day? Surely we wouldn't be the only couple in the schoolyard to notice. It's not like we were the center of attention, right? I stood face to face with her now, my grin still planted onto my face. With her tense and myself loose, I to gently wrap my hands around hers, trying to her loosen her deathly grip on her arms. All I wanted her to do was relax a bit.

I plant a small kiss onto her forehead, and decide to question her reasoning as to why she's being so-... strange today. "Hey, Quartz. Why are you so tense? Relax a bit, alright? It took my a few seconds, minutes even to get why. She seemed a bit shaken up to answer me, but then, it hit me. She was nervous because she wasn't typically the type of girl to be in a relationship. I mean, neither was I, but obviously I was taking it much better than she was. "Look, it doesn't matter what they think. You just gotta live life how you want to. Not how you think other people want you to. Really, relax. For me?

I could feel other peoples eyes preying on us, looking for something to make fun of for the day. Hopefully, it wasn't us. We weren't like the other losers, and we weren't nerds. We were just two well known teenagers, wanting to have something more than just reputation in our lives. Quartz was just nervous about the consequences. If everybody wasn't so judging, then she'd be fine. But this will work. This relationship, one I really care about, wasn't going to end because of a group of people who use people like tools. This was going to last, because it was love. True love. I went to wrap my arms around her. She needed support, and I was going to give as much of it as I could. To her, this was probably a huge step.

At the glance of my eye, I could spot a group of people coming over. I was guessing it was her friends, since mine are way too cowardly to do something like that. But, in all honesty, who knows? For all I know, it was probably her friends. They were way more vicious then mine.

Whatever bullshit they had to throw at us, I was going to take and throw back at them ten times harder.

At the rate that this was going, her breakfast really may end up all over the ground in front of her. Quartz wasn't sure what a panic attack felt like, but perhaps this was close to it. In shaky breaths that vibrated in her chest and fumbled with her words, she tried the slow breathing method, but nothing was of use. All she could do was nervously stare back at an approaching Blake, swearing her pulse would be audible to the entire yard by the time he arrived beside her.

She could quickly tell him she felt sick - which wasn't exactly lying - and dash off home again as quick as her feet could carry her. Run away from her confrontations. Hide. At least she was good at that. It was bad, and she wasn't proud of it; but it was something, if anything. Besides, everything else she tried to do fell through her fingers like grains of sand.

If only she could crawl into a cave and never come out. If she could fall into the ocean and live there, never having to resurface again. Like a mermaid in one of her stories her father used to read to her when she was young. But she couldn't, and this wasn't a story that she'd get lost in before bed. This was life. Cold, hard, real life. There was no room for fairy-tales or make believe in reality. Certainly not in Quartz's, anyway. So, gritting her teeth and willing herself to calm the fuck down,

As Blake came to a stop in front of her, it was if the world had stopped spinning altogether. Time existed in the breeze that floated through the trees and the yells of conversation and the patters of feet shuffling across the ground. Blinking, Quartz looked down as she felt Blake's hands on hers - eyes now flitting upwards to his grin. "Hey, Quartz. Why are you so tense? Relax a bit, alright?" Blake said with a kiss on her forehead, the world speeding up again around her.

She couldn't do this. She couldn't. She was going to be sick and she. could. not. do. this.[/i][/color]

Clutching Blake's hand so tightly that she was worried she'd stop the circulation in it altogether, Quartz managed a smile. It was probably a little unconvincing, but she did not have the energy, or the will, to be convincing today. "Look, it doesn't matter what they think. You just gotta live life how you want to. Not how you think other people want you to. Really, relax. For me?" he asked, and Quartz felt like she'd collapse right then and there.

She hated knowing he was right. She hated wanting to be right. She hated it so badly that if she were a piece of paper she'd rip herself up, scrunching her being into a ball and throwing it in the trash, done with it. Never having to worry about herself again, or who she was. Who she wanted to be.

Sighing, Quartz nodded. A little bit of the weight from her shoulders was lifted, grateful for Blake and his words. She could do this. She would do this. For Blake, and more importantly, herself. Because she deserved more than a shallow, hard impression of a person. She deserved to live how she wanted to live. Most importantly, she wanted to be herself. Her real self.

Perhaps she could do this after all.

And if Ripred himself has decided to punish her now for all her sins and hand her a cruel deal of cards, a call of her name from an oh-so-familiar voice snapped her spine to a rigid structure.

"Quartz!"

That huge, self-sucking, disappearing-into-the-ground hole she was talking about? Yeah. That'd be good right about now.[/color]

And there is so much we don’t know ,

The sound of a very familiar voice filled my ears as I turned my head to find a group of people standing there. Mostly girls, but one stood out from them all. It was a guy, and he didn't look to happy at all. I recognized him, and I assume Quartz probably did too. It was Tyson- Her ex-boyfriend. And also, one of my friends. Maybe I should have been a little bit more careful when I went around telling my friends about Quartz. I hadn't really thought about what would happen if Tyson found out. Wow. This was going to be interesting, wasn't it? But whatever happened here and now, I'd be there for Quartz. No matter what.

"Hey Blake. What are you doing with my girl? Thought you were cool, dude. Guess I thought wrong, huh?" I guess I kinda lost myself in a mental rage. How in the world was Quartz still his girl? Why in the world was he still lingering on desperately to times that no longer existed? Sure, he once had Quartz. But by now he's probably preyed on just about every girl that's fallen for him. And trust me- that's a lot of girls. I guess leaving his question swaying in the quiet wasn't the best idea, so I opened my mouth to respond. And my cheeky smile was far from being anywhere near it.

"Hey, Tyson. Nice to see you to. But here's a news flash for you. She isn't your girl anymore. In fact, no ones ever actually been your girl before. You treat them like shit, dude. I thought you were cool. Guess I thought wrong, huh?" yea, yea. I was probably getting way too defensive over this, but Tyson needed to earn a little bit of respect in his puny excuse for a soul. Sure, I've run down his path before, but at least I've learned the difference between using human beings as tools, and using them as normal people. I know I'm not the best guy around, and not the best example of the ideal boyfriend, but I was getting there, and Tyson's attitude just pissed me off. Honestly, a knuckle sandwich straight into his nose sounded good right about now. I was hungry for a little bit of action.

"Look Blake. You're not even the dating type, and from what I've seen, this is a different act then from what you usually do. What's the deal? And also, don't even bother arguing with me. But, since you already have, it'd only fair to make you pay." And with the end of that sentence, his fist flew through the air, smacking itself right into my jawline. Fucking hell. it hurt way more than I thought it would. Way, way more then I thought. My feet lost there balance as I stumbled back a bit, praying to ripred that Quartz was going to be fine. Even if she just walked away right now I'd be happy. I just hoped she did something smart. "Wanna answer my question now, Blake? Tyson snapped at me, as I clenched my throbbing face with my right hand. I swear, if I even spoke a word the pain in my jaw would be un-bearable. But then, something else happened. Something to add onto the series of joyful events. "Yea Quartz, what's the deal? You're not the dating type. It was one of her friends- A close one I'd assume. I couldn't talk, and the pressure was on her. I only hoped she'd do the right thing. No, it wasn't to go back to her old self. No, it wasn't exactly to run away.

She was to be herself, and whatever felt right to her, was going to be the perfect thing to do. At least, that's what I think.

Please, dear Ripred, or whatever - let me wake up soon and find that this was all just a dream. A very bad dream. Or a meteor would be good. Or a black hole. Flash flood? Tsunami? Plague? Alien invasion? Anything? Anything at all?

Tyson. Ah, ex-boyfriend number.... who cares. All that mattered was he was one of the ones that still held a grudge. One of the ones she tossed aside before she could be overpowered by him. He was a risk, and a dodgy one at that - and risks were not up Quartz's alley at all.

As the crowd of eyes that studied her, judging her, Quartz turned her body to face them, hands still clutching Blake's for support. Had she not been holding him, she may have fainted. Then again, fainting would at least knock her out for a few hours at least. Why did she even let herself think that she could face them all? Gear herself for an inevitable downfall? She was too shallow, too cowardly, too weak for this.

"Hey Blake. What are you doing with my girl? Thought you were cool, dude. Guess I thought wrong, huh?" Tyson chided, and an anger began to boil up in Quartz. She was not his girl. She wasn't anyone's girl. Well, Blake's, technically - but she was not an item to be claimed. She was her own person. Not a thing to be owned.

Opening her mouth to retaliate, Blake cut in before her. Thankful that he did, for Quartz wasn't sure if her words would come out strong and sharp like they usually did, or falter under her nerves - she listened on an ignored the questioning glances from the onlooking crowd of her friends. "Hey, Tyson. Nice to see you to. But here's a news flash for you. She isn't your girl anymore. In fact, no ones ever actually been your girl before. You treat them like shit, dude. I thought you were cool. Guess I thought wrong, huh?" Blake fought back - and quite well, too.

Tension so thick you could almost taste it, Tyson gritted his teeth and bit back. "Look Blake. You're not even the dating type, and from what I've seen, this is a different act then from what you usually do. What's the deal? And also, don't even bother arguing with me. But, since you already have, it'd only fair to make you pay." Before Quartz could say anything else, the next thing she saw was Tyson's fist flying through the air and a gasp from the crowd - and then Blake was thrown back, clutching his jaw.

What the actual fuck is going on oh my Ripred-

"Wanna answer my question now, Blake?" Tyson spat, anger etched into his face. Quartz barely had time to check if Blake was alright before more enquires were drilled toward her. "Yea Quartz, what's the deal? You're not the dating type" another one of Quartz's friends questioned, everyone shocked at what had just happened.

She was pissed. off. And somebody was gonna get it.

"What the actual fuck, Tyson?! You ASSHOLE!" Quartz screeched, a sudden surge of confidence ignited by her anger that had overthrown her initial shock. Quite frankly, she didn't give a flying fuck what anyone thought of her this moment - she needed to let out her anger and she bloody well would. "One. I am NOT your 'girl', she spat fiercely. "Two" the blonde continued."Don't you fucking dare punch my boyfriend just because your jealous little head can't get over the fact that we broke up months ago. And three - you can all take your judging little attitudes and fuck off, to be honest."

And with that, she turned to Blake and grabbed his face, kissing him full on the lips. Careful to treat his jaw lightly - as who knows what damage Tyson's idiot punch had caused, but as she broke away she tugged on his hand and marched away from the group with her head held high - liberated from what had just happened, and too proud to worry about how her words would affect her later. Never had she spoken her mind in front of them before, let alone screamed at them like that, and it felt wonderful.

Safely out of the crowd's way and earshot, Quartz spun around, still holding Blake's hand, and lifted the other to examine his jaw. "Are you alright?" she asked, a look of worry crossing her face. "Tyson's a fucking idiot, I'm so sorry about him, I had no idea..." she babbled on, feeling entirely at fault for the incident that had just happened.

The pain steered itself violently throughout my face. Wow, Tyson packed a bigger punch then I thought he did. I mean really, damn. I've been bitch slapped before, smacked before, even punched before, but never like the one i just received. Shit, how much I just wanted to punch him back, but all that would do is create more commotion, so that might not be the best idea in this situation. Maybe later though. I don't leave things un-noticed, and Tyson knew that. He was going to regret every second he's spent here. Before I knew it, Quartz was retaliating. And she was way more angry then I would have imagined her to be. Maybe it was a good idea after all, to get to know her better. She actually knew my needs. That's something I've always wanted someone to know. She was doing exactly what I wanted her to- 'cause after all, that is usually the right way, right? My ears caught the sounds of Quartz as she spoke out loud to Tyson.

"What the actual fuck, Tyson?! You ASSHOLE!" She yelled, straining her voice, then calming it down the slightest bit. "One. I am NOT your 'girl'. Two, Quartz boomed, her voice spreading throughout the campus. "Don't you fucking dare punch my boyfriend just because your jealous little head can't get over the fact that we broke up months ago. And three - you can all take your judging little attitudes and fuck off, to be honest." She, uhm, handled that pretty well actually. I thought for sure she'd try and at least ~~cat fight the crap out of tyson~~ hit Tyson or something, but she didn't. She chose the safer way. The better one. Yep, it's been confirmed once again. Quartz is the absolute perfect girl for me.

Tyson just stood there, cursing over his own breath, pondering on what useless oaths he had to shoot at us next- But he had none. Quartz had rendered him speechless. Quartz spun on her heels, weaving her fingers into mine, and using her other to lay over the damaged area on my face. Following that, she kissed me. Right then and there. Not giving two shits about anything around us. My eyes shut closed as I went to embrace the ambiance of the moment, and lightly kissed her back before we broke apart. A weak smile grew upon my face as Quartz quickly went to scurry away, dragging me along. She just needed some air. She needed to escape, and frankly, so did I. She continued until we were clear out of sight, and out of the average persons hearing range. So, assuming we were fine to talk now Quartz came to a halt, and spoke. This time, I really had nothing to say.

"Are you alright?" her tone of guilt almost made me want to feel bad, but I really couldn't, since it wasn't actually her fault at all. my jaw was still flaming with pain, though as time passed the pain was beginning to wash itself away. "Tyson's a fucking idiot, I'm so sorry about him, I had no idea..."

"QUartz, I'm fine. Just, please don't apologize. It wasn't your fault at all. It was just Tyson holding onto something he couldn't have anymore. But I wouldn't blame him- You're amazing." With that said, my usual trademark smile of cheekiness was curved upon my lips, class was going to start soon. There was only about 15 minutes every morning to linger around the schoolyard before a bell brought everyone back into their prison cells within the school. Gah, how I would have killed just to stay home today. Maybe I could've just avoided this whole situation and let Quartz live her own life without me ruining it. "Anyway, class should start soon. We could always just skip our first class if you wanna- Then do whatever you want to do. I could honestly use a break right now, but its up to you."

I didn't know about her, but I was just about ready to do anything for 45 more minutes with Quartz. Literally. Anything.

Head racing, Quartz's thoughts were interrupted by Blake's voice. She stopped to listen, holding her breath as his words began. "Quartz, I'm fine. Just, please don't apologize. It wasn't your fault at all. It was just Tyson holding onto something he couldn't have anymore. But I wouldn't blame him- You're amazing." he smiled, and once he'd finished, Quartz gushed, her breathing returning to normal. She couldn't help but doubt his last few words - damn, if she'd just stayed at home today, Blake wouldn't have gotten hurt. Amazing people don't get the people they care about hurt, even if it was an accident. Accidents are full of fault. They define fault - fault that you could not control. Everything seemed to be her fault, lately.

"Anyway," Blake continued, "class should start soon. We could always just skip our first class if you wanna- then do whatever you want to do. I could honestly use a break right now, but its up to you." To Quartz, his words were an answer to her prayers - as if he'd reached into her mind and plucked them out himself. She needed to get away from this place, from all of it. Later, she'd return to her frie-

She didn't have friends. Not any more. After that most recent escapade, the seventeen year old wouldn't be surprised if everyone in the entire school now hated her. Not that they didn't already - but they'd certainly begin to show it now. At least 30 or so people had witnessed the fight - and rumours and gossip spread around this school like melted butter on toast ~~[[[ahahahaha I'm so funny geddit geddit no oh ok I'll be quiet now]]]~~. Whispers and stares and murmured insults as she passed that she once dished out, now all backfiring right in her face. The mere thought of that now being a huge, probable reality made Quartz feel sick - grabbing onto Blake's arm for support.

"Yeah," she breathed, almost laughing from the nerves in the pit of her stomach that began to rise with her words. "Yeah. That'd be great" she finished quietly, sighing as a terrified smile blossomed slowly on her face. Quartz had already faced and said a hell-load of things and people today that a few days ago would not have even thought possible - so a break sounded fantastic. More than fantastic, actually.

"I need to get out of here, I think"the blonde confessed, hand still on Blake - but released her grip slightly so as not to hurt him. By think, she meant know, but at the moment her mind was too wound-up to bother about picking the right words to exit her mouth. Her eyes studied where Tyson's fist had connected with his jaw, biting her lip as she assessed the damage. Perhaps kissing him hadn't been the brightest idea to carry out - but what was done was done, and it wasn't as if she could take it back. She didn't really want to, anyway - the look on her ex-friend's faces had been worth it. "Are you sure you're ok?" she asked again, genuinely concerned for Blake's health. The last place she wanted to be was at that retched hospital again, but if it was essential, she'd have to grin and bear it. Quartz had done enough of that to last a life-time.

Standing there, I awaited a response for Quartz. Maybe skipping class wasn't the best idea, but what good what it do us in the future anyway? We're not scientists- We're never going to be doing the hard stuff. We'll be fishing, and making nets. Doing things that only take skill in the activity, not things that require you to use your brain. So, why not skip class? it's not like it was going to turn out like it was the end of the world. You know, If the Capitol hasn't already made everyone wish it was. Quartz, gently grabbing onto my arm, began to whisper in a feint voice, what she thought of the idea exactly.

"Yeah," She mutters, whispering under her breath, "Yeah. That's be great." Perfect Exactly what I wanted- No, needed to hear. I needed to hear that she felt the same way as I did; that she needed a break from all these teenagers. They're so quick to judge, and so slow to realize how naive and stupid they actually are. if they were in the position I, or Quartz was in, being judged, I'm sure they would have handled it far worse then us. In my opinion, I think the situation was put down altogether put down quite nicely. And then, she spoke once more.

"I need to get out of here, I think." She says, confessing it openly. Sure, sure, she had just ranted on and on about the shit the kids at this school have done, and expressed her opinion to them. but that's something nobody, and when I say nobody I mean it, nobody else would have done. In their lifetimes. Just something that could shatter the reputation they all think they have, and they become little mice; scurrying around, trying to find someplace safe to hide until the conflict rises. But Quartz- Oh, no. She handles the shit she wants to handles, regardless of the opinion. But that's only how I see it. Not sure about Quartz herself, though. Remaining silent at the mutual agreement, i let her break the silence for once. let her start up the conversation. lately, I've been feelings like i'm not letting her speak out what she needed to- And I guess I'm changing. Regardless whether it's good or bad, and regardless whether I want to or not.

"Are you sure you're okay?" She's obviously concerned. But really, my face is nothing compared to what I'd done to Quartz not too long ago... I could only imagine the pain inflcited upon my face times thrice on Quartz's foot. The bleeding patch, crippling her very ability to be able to walk and slip on a simple pair of shoes properly. Really, she cared too much for me. But, in a good way. it's just that if I were in this situation, I'd be un able to show the care and love that she's shown me. Maybe we can learn a thing or two from each other. Bond, perhaps?

"Yea, i'm fine. Really. You really care too much, you know." I say, smiling at her. I actually genuinely was happy with the agreement we were having. let's ditch school, and have the time of our freaking lives. Screw my face, let's have some fun. Pushing myself up off the ground with my spare arm, I gently lead Quartz up as well, opening my mouth to talk again. Leading her away from the darkened, shadowed area of the school, I allow the fresh streams of sunlight prickle over my skin, as I turn to her, smiling. "So, Quartz. where do you wanna go? I'm up for anything. Make your choice wise though- I don't skip school everyday, no matter how much i wish I could."
