JACKSON & MARINA MEETING MAKES ME WANT TO DIE INSIDE SO I CAN BE REBORN AND FOR SOME REASON IN THIS SCENARIO REBIRTH JUST SOUNDED COOL.
But shoot me if I don't have a plot all thought up. Marina is used to messages from God. Quiet tired of them, actually, because a supposed message from God sent her into slavery when it was actually mean to save her. She hates misinterpretations, avoids writing and reading all of the time, and can't stand hidden implications. So basically, she hates communication. It would be interesting if Jackson Icarus showed Marina that she does have to adapt to her surroundings (i.e. occasionally communicate with people) but that she can pick her poison and choose her kind of lunatics from a large pool of interesting, kind, and funny people. The bird could charm Marina, she's always been a free spirit after all, and the boy could be her unhealthy relationship.

Totally unstable, totally abnormal. He could perhaps help her understand what it means to speak untruths because she is so used to blunt, short statements that hesitantly tell people what she thinks, and she's used to going by the policy if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. It leaves her struggling not to be a fake BSer or a mean person. She needs someone supportive to help teach her basic skills, and it would be comedic for her to learn from a strange air-plane obsessed boy with a bird. Perhaps she could even kind of "serve" him, as in begin to cling onto him because of her background as an other-serving slave who falls back into the rhythm of following very easily.

Oh! And I was thinking they could have a platonic love going for them (think anti!Kellalove, because Kellalove is all about skin and bodies and wanting each other and fitting in with each other) Icarus and Marina could be more of the sort of people hesitating and kind of brushing up against each others hands then instantly turning cliche!red and awkward. Like Jackson Icarus is trying to impress Marina with his taxidermy, and she's all like I have a skill too, I can shuck corn. Then he shows her his work, and she's like oh how cool, so like it's already dead when you do this, right? Do you offer its insides to Derpi-I mean its cool. And Icarus is all like yeah, I know. And they kind of keep out of each others bubble's because they're like two kids. Marina being of an unspecified, but prolly equal/andor/older age would make things interesting too, she wouldn't know that as a girl she should be hanging out with older guys instead of younger ones. Yes she DEF SHOULD, eww icky little boys And the two of them just sort of care for each other and occasionally break the touch barrier like a comforting upper-arm fist-hit or quick hand squeeze, but they're mighty awkward and more interested in innocent pursuits like watching clouds and birds together. When they can't bear to be around each other, because lets face it they aren't just mighty awkward, they're full blown loons together, Icarus sends her letters and Marina tries to compose short little notes for him that express the sentimental place he holds in her heart.

So for Essence, I guess it depends on her personality, but it might be cool for Marina to start to put above-named communication skills to work with a girl. Marina naturally distrusts boys because of the mistakes that have impacted her life, and the abuse her fellow girls suffered under ownership. So it might be interesting for Marina to learn how to act around people from Essence, like how most guys aren't crazy and/or odd, she's just a magnet for the wild ones.

My basic plot ideas come down to Marina learning. She likes to learn, flourish, and adapt. Anything she does ends in Marina discovering a part of the world she should belong to, and how she fits into it now, as a damaged good. Marina will especially get on with Jackson because he likes birds for flight, and she likes birds for freedom. Essence, I don't know so much about but they're both female so they have that going for them
