The Outcasts- District 12 Plot
In the poverty stricken District 12 live six friends, three girls and three boys. Living in District 12, one learns that life isn’t all parties and fun like in the Capitol. To survive, even outside of the Games, one must learn how to be hungry, how to be on guard, and how to break the rules. For these six friends, living in District 12 is even harder. These six are called The Outcasts. For different reasons, they have been marked as strange, weak, or undesirable. As they face different obstacles, these six “Outcasts” will need to band together and help each other survive this harsh life.
*Note: I tried to be a bit general with the character descriptions because I want everyone to put their own personal bits into the character and make them unique.
Grant Flint: [Male. 18 almost 19. Open.] Grant is the oldest of The Outcasts. With this in mind, he tries to be the responsible one. Of course, Grant cannot replace whatever is missing in the rest of the group members’ hearts, but he tries. With a deformed leg, Grant cannot walk quite right and has to stop and rest if going on a long walk. Grant’s father and mother constantly argue and ignore their son. With two alcoholic parents, Grant has learned to fend for himself as well as for the rest of the Outcasts.
Fawn Meadows: [Female. 18. Open] Fawn, the second oldest of the Outcasts, is the brains of the group. She is soft spoken and always thinks things through. Fawn has been supporting her two little siblings, a sister and brother, since their mother died during childbirth and their father works all day in the mines. Fawn is a bit jumpier than her fellow Outcasts since a bear that managed to find a large hole in the district fence attacked her. The accident left Fawn’s left side scarred and much weaker than her right and her left eye permanently blind.
Reed Burrow: [Male. 17 almost 18. Open] Reed Burrow is the joker of the group. He can make anyone smile no matter how bad his or her day has been and is almost never seen without a smile on his face. With no physical disabilities, it may take while for one to see why he is considered an Outcast. He is gay. Being gay has made Reed the target of both verbal and physical abuse from both others his age and his own fathe. Many days Reed has bruises somewhere showing the latest beating from his father. Reed is best friends with Eva and is the only person besides her brothers that she has spoken a word to since the accident.
Garnet Carney: [Female. 17. Open] Garnet is a slim and athletic girl. With fiery red hair to match her temper, Garnet always speaks her mind. Garnet is constantly saying nasty things about the Capitol and her friends worry what would happen if a Peacekeeper were to hear her words. Garnet is a tomboy and is not one to giggle, or even smile very much. Living with her grandmother after influenza killed her parents and little sister, Garnet is the opposite of Little Miss Sunshine. She sees the dark side of things and lets very few people in. These walls Garnet has built, however, are mostly to keep anyone from seeing her disability. Garnet has a mild form of autism and she has a hard time relating to others. Garnet is closest to Fawn, but has had a crush on Grant since they were little.
Saxon Iron: [Male. 17. Open] Saxon, the youngest male in The Outcasts is skinny like most in District 12, but his general build is more muscular than most. Saxon’s father died in a mining accident, the same that killed Eva’s parents, and now lives with his grandfather and mother. Saxon has had a huge crush on Eva since he met her after the mining accident and is fiercely protective of her. Saxon’s flaw that has branded him as an Outcast is his panic attacks. Saxon, under high stress, has panic attacks that cause him to freeze up and loose his temper. Few want to be around Saxon when he is like this, but Eva and Grant normally stay with him and try to help Saxon calm down.
Eva Rosemary:[Female.16.Taken by nerdychick.] Eva in one word is energy. This small sixteen year old can hardly ever sit still. With three older brothers, the triplets, Eva has grown up rough housing and learning how to hold her own, so don’t let her small frame and short 5 feet height fool you. What marks Eva as an Outcast can be seen with her sealed lips. Ever since a mining accident that killed both her mother and her father, Eva has refused to speak and is voluntarily a mute. Eva is shy when she first meets a person, but once she accepts you as a friend, she will stand by you no matter what.
