An orphan's curse would drag to hell, a spirit from on high; but oh! more horrible than that, is a curse in a dead man's eye!
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
SYCAMORE HOUSE
Right in the corner of District Five, nestled up near the electrified fence, there is a building. It is derelict and tumbling down, so much so that at first glance you would assume that the house hadn't been inhabited since the industry change. Certainly no changes or repairs have been made to the house since long before then - not since Miss Aggie lost her mind, anyhow. Despite the houses unkempt and battered appearance, there are signs of life if you look close enough. A precarious sandcastle built up in a small patch of sand on the grass. A rusty and broken bike left on the lawn. A pair of small pink wellington boots by the door. Words written in the dust on the windows. All signs that maybe somebody lives there after all. There is a carved board out the front of the house - as dismal and worn out as the place around it. If you run your finger over it, however, you can still make out the words engraved in the wood. Sycamore House. A house of misplaced and abandoned children. A home. An orphanage. A place where the unwanted citizens of District Five live. A place where they always have, ever since the uprisings.
Miss Aggie was appointed to care for the orphans sixty years ago. She's eighty now, and her mind went a while back. She stopped fixing things, she stopped tucking in the children and reading them stories. She stopped making sure that each of her charges where safe and well. For sure, she cared for them, but the poor old lady could no longer care for herself, never mind a troupe of young homeless orphans. The Capitol, however, aren't prepared to fund a second carer while Miss Aggie still lives. After all, nobody cares for the children - that is why they are orphans - so there is nobody left to insist upon the change. The unwanted minors of Five all live together, caring for each other as though they where truly family after all.
Due to great interest in the original Sycamore House Plot, I have decided to introduce one new character. The character is different from the rest, as it is completely up to the handler to design. There are main rules that the design must follow, namely being:
1) Character must have a definite purpose and reason within the group.
2) Character must be recently orphaned, or otherwise moved from another orphanage at a very recent time. There will be an actual introduction thread of the character, as they arrive, as well as subsequent other threads establishing their place within the group.
3) Character must stand apart from each other character history and personality.
4) Each person may submit only one custom character each, so think before you post.
Please fill in the following form to audition for the custom character place in the plot.

New plot character chosen is Sam Fiala, played by South.
The second open position in the plot is the character Ruth, previously reserved for Lyss. Lyss has not been active for some time now, so the character is being passed over to somebody else.
Ruth [14] [reserved for Cait]
Ruth is a quiet girl with big dreams and a shy demeanour. Often overlooked by her peers, the younger twin resents her protective brother, although she loves him very much at the same time. The twins lived with an abusive father for many years until they where removed from his care. Ruth loves reading and drawing, and wishes to one day be seen as an individual rather than simply a twin. I would be interested to see the road that the twins relationship takes, and how she works through her shyness. She is interested in art and fashion.
Face-claim: Le Hoang Bao Tran
Biography:
If you are interested in Ruth, please leave a short paragraph detailing what you could do with her if you were chosen as her handler, as well as a brief outline of how you perceive her. Also, I'd like a link to one of your threads as a sample. This bio would need to be completed quite soon to fit in with the current thread.
