The Point Of No Return
In District 6, there is a place called the Tempus Opera House; a place that looks like a mansion from the outside, and could almost be called official what with the shiny tiles on the floor in the lobby and large staircases, except for the large open expanse deeper within the opera house that has a stage, and rows and rows of seats, and boxes among boxes lining the walls so people can get an aerial view of the teenage wonders that perform on the stage. But behind the curtain, when the people in the audience aren’t watching them act and sing and dance, each of them is not as perfect as they make themselves on the stage. Behind the scenes, there is drama, happiness, sadness, tears, smiles, frowns, smirks, glares, iciness – and all of it isn’t pretend.
Mercury Vanadium —Female, 18—(Briknope)— Keagan’s sister Mercury is a kindhearted girl that protects the Opera House cast like they are her own kids. But she protects them more than she protects herself, as she tortures herself unintentionally with hypnophobia, leading to her often staying awake in the middle of the night, eyes running themselves over her script, looking for errors or something that doesn’t make sense, having to cover it up by wearing makeup (and about two cups of the strongest coffee she has). As leader of the cast, she picks out the songs they sing (and plays them on piano for the group to hear first) and also writes the script with Codrus, who she has a small crush on, and Hestia. Mercury is an opera singer and an actress.[/blockquote] [/justify]
Keagan Vanadium–Male, 18—(Shine)— Mercury’s brother Keagan is one of those tough kind of guys, the kind that enjoys sports, and it was surprising to his sister that he even wanted to join something “oh so girly” but did because he had nothing else to do at the time he joined and just decided to try it out. Eventually, he fell in love with the stage (and Hestia) and decided to stay with the cast, and after a couple of years, he emerged as one of the singers (of which Mercury and him argue about who is the better singer). Keagan is an opera singer and an actor.
Hestia Verglasen—Female, 17—(Sarella)— Hestia is almost like an angel put on Earth. She has the ability to walk into a room and make everybody smile, and she is a joy to be around, but you can’t be weirded out when you see the way she eats food in specific orders, or checking every single lock in the Tempus Opera House at least three times, or going into the dressing rooms to make sure Ariadne didn’t leave a straighter on at least four times. Hestia is a sufferer of OCD, and she is constantly checking to make sure things are perfect and in tip-top shape and the such. Bless her heart, she even goes around before the shows to make sure everyone is dressed and everything is done before they go on stage. Hestia is an opera singer and an actress.
Theseus Rhodium —Male, 17—(Semper)— Theseus is an irritable person, with a “don’t have time for you” attitude, but when he isn’t ‘busy’, he can actually be pretty chill, enjoying to hang around the cast rehearsing for a show. But late at night, when the rest of the cast is asleep (except for Mercury, of course), he practices the parts on the stage, repeating each line over and over until the words are branded into his mind. He does this because he is a perfectionist, and he can’t afford to mess up for the risk of being a failure in everybody’s eyes. Once, he accidentally messed up a couple of his lines on stage, and after that, he threatened to leave, but Riordan and Gwynn talked him into staying. Theseus is not an opera singer, but he is an actor.
Xana Quate (formerly known as Ariadne)—Female, 17—(Cass)— Ariadne is the equivalent to a highschool popular girl who cakes on makeup and treats other people like complete garbage. She has a ‘holier-than-thou’ attitude, and she isn’t afraid to tell it to you either. She will do anything she can to get a big part in the next opera that the Tempus Opera House has in store. Once, when Ariadne hadn’t obtained a part in the opera the cast was doing at the time, the costumes that were involved in the opera were cut up the night before the first show, and so Gwynn, Hestia, and Naveen had to work late up until three in the morning to repair them. Mercury eventually found a pair of scissors in Ariadne’s drawer and figured it out, but kept her in the cast, because she is one of the best singers in the Opera House and she couldn’t let someone with that powerful of a voice go.
Codrus Eldringhoff—Male, 17—(Roseh)— Codrus is the funny guy of the cast (and thus he likes to hang around Naveen a lot). He is snarky and sarcastic (but only in a teasing sort of way) and always teases Hestia that she forgot something right before the show (and she has to resist the urge to go check costumes, script, and songs over and over again). What the cast doesn’t know, though, behind some sweet smiles and hugs, Codrus struggles with a drug addiction, heroin and morphling in particular. All the cast would need to do to find this out is go through his dressing room drawer (as everyone has a personal mirror and drawer to themselves, the mirrors and everything else in one huge room) and find a bottle of pills and a hidden needle to know who he truly is. Codrus is an opera singer and actor.
Riordan Einfallen—Male, 16—(Tom)—Riordan is a very joyful, happy boy, who is the guy that is any lonely female’s best friend, constantly telling every female in the cast they look lovely before they go on stage (except for Ariadne. He’s afraid she will hit him). He is a guy that likes to help everybody, but sometimes he gets a little carried away, once taking costumes away from the dressing rooms right before the show, not realizing they were not old costumes, which caused the cast a panic attack, but they managed to get ready in time. He just feels like the little outcast in the group, so he tries to do whatever he can to prove himself as worthy. Riordan is not an opera singer but he is an actor.
Naveen Casovnik —Female, 16—(Arx)-- Naveen is very shy around people when she isn’t on stage, but when she is around the Tempus Opera House cast, she is like a firework, cracking jokes every opportunity she gets and bright eyes and huge smiles always pasted on her face. She makes sure that Mercury (who she is very close to) gets sleep, Hestia doesn’t overwork herself, and Ariadne doesn’t try to claw Riordan’s eyes out. Naveen is not an opera singer but she is an actress.
Gwynn Bellum-Viciantale —Female, 15—(Kiah)— Gwynn is a tough girl, with a blunt attitude and mostly expressionless face (unless she is up on the stage. Then she has all the emotions). She mostly hangs around Theseus, but she hardly ever talks to him, just follows him. Outcasted as a kid, she replaced people with books, and eventually, she developed into a very intelligent person. She is knowledgeable in many things, but specializes in clothing (and that is why she helps Hestia with costumes at times). When she is not on stage rehearsing or performing, she is in box 23 specifically, reading a book. Gwynn is not an opera singer but she is an actress.
To note: Sometimes, certain people will be in the opera at the time. For example, Gwynn, Naveen, Riordan, and Mercury might be in the opera, but when the next opera rolls around, other people will be selected. Also, when it states in the last sentence if someone is an opera singer (since everybody is an actor) it does not limit singing in general. If Mercury does a song, for example, the people who aren’t opera singers or actors for that specific opera will be singing and dancing (yes, dancing) in the background. Instruments will be done by NPC's in the pit in front of the stage.
